WinOnBaseball - Monday Report - 04/12/04
-- NEXT UPDATE will be posted before 6:00am Pacific on TUESDAY, April 10.
Season record: 9-19, -12.02 UNITS
All lines effective as of as of 4/12/2004, 1:12:00 AM - PST. Listed pitchers must start.
One play for Monday:
UNDER 8.5 CIN (WILSON)/PHI (WOLF) - +101 - 1 UNIT - 10:05am Pacific
Wilson can probably be referred to as a fast starter. Although he didn't have a good spring, he pitched great against the Cubs in his debut. His April ERA was 3.48 last year and 2.89 in 2002. He doesn't have much of a history against the Phillies, but their lineup is struggling on offense right now, and I think he can hold his own against them. Wolf did not look sharp in his debut, but he was sick the night before and made the start anyway. Over the last three years, he's pitched 56.1 innings against them, with a 2.40 ERA, .195 BAA, which is fully supported by excellent skill set numbers. He put up similar dominant numbers against them last year as well.

It is important to note a couple of things about baseball. Unlike all other sports, baseball is handicapped more on facts and figures. There are less intangibles involved and there are less variables. The fact is, a fielding error, a blister on the pitchers throwing hand, a key hit in a big inning, or any number of reasons can result in a bad loss. That is baseball. We try very hard to put ourselves in the best situation at all times but sometimes it does not work out and a game can go down really hard. Even the best starting pitcher, and the best reliever has a bad outing from time to time and these times cannot be predicted correctly every time.........Our point is simple.....There will be Under plays that will lose by large margins. There will be Over plays that will lose by large margins. There will be Side plays that will lose horribly. But in every situation we would make the same play again based on the information that we have.
