john found this at another site would this change you bet on boston

Everyone knows the Red Sox played 13 innings in Baltimore last night and now have an afternoon Home opener in Boston. This team had a hell of a night though as they got to the Airport in Baltimore at 2:00am but sat on the charter flight until it left at 5:30am, they then flew to Boston touching down at the airport at 6:45am! This team hasn't been in Boston for 6 weeks either.

                SF Giants vs. SD Padres

It could (and should) have been a winning night overall on Thursday for us "EZ riders" if San Francisco wins but:

San Francisco loses 4-3 in 10 innings.........and yet another case of a manager using too many pitchers.
First, with San Diego leading 1-0 the Giants bring in a new pitcher (J. Christiansen) to start the bottom of the 8th. He faces one batter and gives up a walk so then he is immediately replaced by F. Rodriguez.
                F. Rodriguez retires 3 batters (on ground balls mind you) in the bottom of the 8th with one walk being his only blemish. Then in the top of the 9th the Giants score 2 runs and take a 2-1 lead. You would assume F. Rodriguez would pitch the bottom of the 9th........NOT!........(I'm SORRY but the Giants pinch hit for F. Rodriguez in the top of the ninth and that's why he didn't pitch in the bottom of the ninth; damn national league.....LOL).
Anyway, the Giants bring in M. Herges to pitch the bottom of the ninth and he gives up 1 run for the tie. The Giants again take the lead 3-2 after scoring one run in the top of the 10th so they bring back Herges for the bottom of the 10th. Herges ultimately gets two Padres out after letting two men on base (first and second). So Herges has the lead by one with a man on first and second and two outs but instead of letting him try for the final out, get out of his own mess, and preserve the victory..........FELIPE ALOU brings in D. Aardsma.
                D. Aardsma gives up a ground-rule double that ties the game and then a single to end it.........SICKENING!
FELIPE ALOU claims the reason he took out Herges is because he's the Giants closer and he doesn't want to blow out his arm in the first week of the season........what a bunch of B.S.!!........yeah right, facing one more batter is going to blow out his arm.......(lol).
The Giants used a grand total of six pitchers in 9 and 2/3 innings.

--What is going on in MLB with these chess-like moves in the relief pitching area?
--Why not leave a pitcher in if he's doing well and getting outs?
--Why always so quick to bring another relief pitcher in the game?
--It seems the more relief pitchers a manager uses in a close game the more likely that one of those pitchers will have "lousy stuff" and wind up losing the game for his team!

                Sincerely,
                Bennojd

                      tdickson,

I think you are right, LA is the worst 2-1 team in baseball.
                      Good luck,
                      John
