  • Kemp - Samsung Radio Shack 500

Went 4-3 (-2.86) so I finished in the hole as I lost some of my half time plays with UConn. I did however go 2-0 +3.0 units in Busch racing and hope to keep that aspect rolling today with the Cup race. One book I use had a pretty full schedule of matchups as I normally can find 2 or 3 I like today I found many more.

Samsung Radio Shack 500 April 4, 2004 - Race Matchups

    Terry Labonte vs Ricky Rudd

    Terry Labonte -140
    Ricky Rudd +110

Not a good track for Rudd when compared to Labonte. In the 7 races at TMS he has 2 top 5's and 3 top 10's while Labonte has 2 top 5's and 5 top 10's. Head to head Terry has won 6 of 7 with his worst finish being 16th place. Toss out the 3 top 10's Rudd has had and you find 26, 37, 19 and 27th places finishes. Texas Terry wins this one.

    Terry Labonte -140 = LOSS (41, Rudd 22)

    Jimmie Johnson vs Kurt Busch

    JIMMIE JOHNSON +100
    KURT BUSCH -130

The money is good for Jimmie in this one and he has finished ahead in their 2 Cup races here. Johnson has 2 top 10's finishing 8th last year and 6th in 2002. Busch has 9, 23 and 4th place finishes in Cup races. I still say Hendrick cars will do well here this weekend and spin or no spin I am taking Jimmie in this one.

    Jimmie Johnson +100 = LOSS (9, Busch 6th)

    Matt Kenseth vs Jeff Gordon

    MATT KENSETH -125
    JEFF GORDON -105

I know Matt won yesterdays Busch race but where is the respect for the guy who finished in the top 5 in each of his last 3 races here? Of course in the 4 prior to that he stunk the joint up and even still, I think Gordon can win this one.

    Jeff Gordon -105 = WIN (3, Kenseth 16)

    Joe Nemechek vs Terry Labonte

    JOE NEMECHEK -180
    TERRY LABONTE +150

The money is just too good to not give this one a try. Nemechek's best here in Cup races was a 4th place finish in 1998 and the only time he finished ahead of Terry. His other finshes have been 35, 41, 37, 33 and 29th. I would be an idiot not to put something on Labonte here who's worst Texas finish is 16th place.

    Terry Labonte +150 = LOSS (41, Nemechek 16)

    Mark Martin vs Greg Biffle

    MARK MARTIN +115
    GREG BIFFLE -145

I will try Martin at this price who has had 4 in a row at TMS that have finished no worse than 11th places (5, 3, 9 and 11th going back to 2000).

    Mark Martin +115 = WIN (17, Biffle 31)

    Dale Jarret vs Kevin Harvick

I am a fan of DJ but have only ever bet him once. Today is the second time. Harvick doesn't have the luxury of racing here yesterday and he has had mixed results here. Jarrett has won here, a couple second place finishes and 5 of 7 have been 13th place or better. If he can do that today he wins this one.

    Dale Jarrett +120 = LOSS (18, Harvick 13)

    Ryan Newman vs Jeff Gordon

    RYAN NEWMAN -125
    JEFF GORDON -105

Damn, I certainly am not a fan of Jeffy by any means and I know Newman is defending Champ but how can I not take Gordon who's last 3 here have been top 5's.

    Jeff Gordon -105 = WIN (3rd, Newman 39)

    Sterling Marlin vs Dale Jarrett

    STERLING MARLIN -150
    DALE JARRETT +120

Third time I take Jarrett. If you are going to give me +120 on a guy that has finished 13th or better in 5 of 7 races not to mention beaten Marlin in 6 of 7 head to heads at Texas I will take it. Thank you very much.

    Dale Jarrett +120 (2*) = WIN (18, Marlin 26)

    Jeff Burton vs Terry Labonte

    JEFF BURTON -120
    TERRY LABONTE -110

Three in a row in this head to head and today is number four. Jeff won in 1997 and finished 2nd in 2000 but has lost every other vs Terry.

    Terry Labonte -110 = LOSS (41, Burton 27)

    Rusty Wallace vs Elliot Sadler

    RUSTY WALLACE +120
    ELLIOTT SADLER -150

What the hell is this? Rusty has finished ahead of this schmuck 5 out of 5 times that Sadler has raced in Cup. In fact Wallace's worst finish is still better than Sadlers best. Sadler has finished 41, 17, 16, 39 and 10th going back to 1999. Wallace over that same time has finished 14, 11, 12, 4 and 4th.

    Rusty Wallace +120 (3*) = LOSS (5th, Sadler 1st)

The Office Depot Championship - LPGA

    Michele Redman vs Lorie Kane

    MICHELE REDMAN (3RD RND) -110
    LORIE KANE (3RD RND) -120

Kane used to be one of our best ladies golfers here in Canada. She might still be our best which doesnt say much for the state of golf in Canada unless Mike Weir is willing to don a dress. Kane dropped again yesterday and while she may play better today she isnt playing as well as Redman. Redman improved yesterday over the first round and finds herself in contention 3 shots back. She would appear the more logical choice in this one.

    Michele Redman -110 = LOSS

    Juli Inkster vs Cristie Kerr

    JULI INKSTER (3RD RND) -120
    CRISTIE KERR (3RD RND) -110

By far the best of what I saw in the 7 available matchups thus far. Inkster has averaged 2 shots higher per round this season. While this tournament hasn't show that I expect Kerr to play up to her ability and win this one by 2+ shots.

    Cristie Kerr -110 (2*) = WIN

      It's finally here....

      Boston at Baltimore

Ponson pitched 26 innings this spring. He gave up 14 earned runs and 5 hr's. Martinez pitched 16 while giving up 12 earned runs and 2 hrs. The O's added some offensive pop in the off season as well.

      Over 7.5 -104 (2*) = WIN
