    NHL Picks for Friday.........

We will not be playing Buffalo...Maple Leafs are still the much better team, and the value is just not great enough. Also, we will not be playing the Sharks....they have clinched their division, while Canucks still have something to play for.....
    ____________________________

Ottawa +105...Both teams have memories of the famous brawl the last time, but vow to behave themselves this time! However the Senators are playing better hockey right now, and are rested and waiting for the Flyers who played last night and travelled. Ottawa is 3-0-1 SU and 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall....Philly is just 5-12 ATS on zero days of rest...Both teams are still fighting for home ice advantage in the playoffs...

Islanders -.5 -120... NYI can clinch a playoff spot with a win tonight and end Buffalo's season. This is also a revenge game , as they lost to the Canes 3-2 on the Island last week...Carolina is out of the playoff picture and will check into this game at 28-33-13-6 SU, 37-43 ATS overall, and 18-22 ATS at home.

Flames -120...Feeling good about themselves after making the playoffs for the first time in 8 years, they figure to keep things going against the already eliminated Kings, who made a courageous run at the post-season after having their 4 best players injured most or all of the season, and having won only 1 of their last 10 games.Flames have won two straight games and are now 8-3 ATS in their last eleven overall.

              Ottawa @ Philadelphia
              Pick: OVER 5.5
              Time: 7:00 PM EST

Today the National Sports Advisors look for Ottawa and Philadelphia to score over 5.5 goals, when they matchup tonight in Philadelphia.

Anyone expecting a continuation of the bad blood from the last game between the Ottawa Senators and Philadelphia Flyers should think again. There's just too much at stake.

The Senators and Flyers will meet at the Wachovia Center for the first time since their March 5 brawlfest in Philadelphia resulted in an NHL-record 419 penalty minutes.

Though many players have said there is still a lot of unfinished business between the teams, Thursday may not be the right time to settle matters. In the wake of the Todd Bertuzzi-Steve Moore incident, the league is showing less tolerance for on-ice violence.

And if that's not enough of a deterrent, both the Senators and Flyers are right in the thick of the race for home-ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs, and desperately need the two points.

The Senators have used a four-game unbeaten streak (3-0-1) to move within two points of Boston for the top spot in the Northeast Division with two games remaining. The Bruins tied lowly Washington 3-3 on Thursday.

The Flyers have split their last six games, but ended a two-game slide with a 2-0 win over Montreal on Thursday. They are two points ahead of New Jersey in the Atlantic Division with two games to play.

                NHL HOCKEY
                Toronto @ Buffalo
                Pick: Buffalo +110
                Time: 8:05 PM EST

Today the Vegas Sports Insiders look for Buffalo to defeat Toronto as +110 underdogs, when they matchup in Buffalo tonight.

The Toronto Maple Leafs and the Buffalo Sabres could both use a victory. However, the Sabres will likely be playing with more desperation.

In need of some outside help, the Sabres will try to do their part and keep their slim playoff hopes alive when they host the rival Maple Leafs.

Buffalo trails the New York Islanders by three points for the final playoff berth in the Eastern Conference with two games remaining for both. The Islanders can clinch the last spot with a victory at Carolina on Friday, but a loss or tie by New York would keep the Sabres' playoff hopes alive provided they beat Toronto.

Buffalo has done almost everything it can lately, going 5-0-1 in its last six and gaining points in 13 of 15 games in March (9-2-1-3).

Toronto, chasing Boston and Ottawa for the Northeast Division title, is also battling for fourth place in the East and home-ice in the opening round of the playoffs. The Leafs are currently fifth, one point behind the Senators with two games remaining for both.

                          Update for April 2, 2004

10 Unit Side & Total Parlay on Seattle +5.5 and LA/Seattle Under 197.5

The Lakers have won 10 straight after last night’s win over Houston. However, they are just 4-10-1 ATS in their last 15. They are also just 5-11-1 ATS on zero days of rest. Seattle is a very impressive 9-1 ATS in their last ten overall and an outright win here would not surprise me at all.

The under is 5-1 in LA’s last 6 and 13-5 in Seattle’s last 18. The under is a perfect 3-0 in the Sonics’ last three at home and I fully expect that to be 4-0 after tonight.

Hook these plays up in a 10 Unit Parlay.

Big Al's NBA Pick for Friday Night

San Antonio Spurs at Utah Jazz

The San Antonio Spurs are making a late-season push for the Midwest Division Title, and tonight they travel to the Delta Center to take on the Utah Jazz. And over the past 5 years, the Spurs have owned (literally) Larry Miller's club. San Antonio is 14-4 ATS and has won an incredible 16 straight games vs. Utah. And what's most remarkable about this streak is that the Spurs have only been favored by more than 6 points in just 4 of these games. So, even though the Jazz are 26-11 SU at home this season, my $$$ will be on the Spurs tonight, as I won't
fade that 16-game winning streak. Lay the wood with San Antone. Good luck, as always...Al McMordie.
