Alabama vs Syracuse -2/135;
Maybe the Orangemen weren't a one-man show last year when they beat all the Big 12 powerhouses and won the National Championship. Starting this season without star player Carmelo Anthony from last year's National Championship team, you would have to think the Orangemen would have a rough road to hoe to try and repeat last year's performance. Well guess what? Here they are again playing in the Sweet 16 round with a 23-7 record with returning starters McNamara, Forth, Warrick, and Pace.
The Orangemen have won 8 straight March Madness games outscoring their opposition on average 76.7 ppg to their opponents 69.1 ppg for a scoring margin of +7.6.
The Tide of Alabama has never reached the Sweet Sixteen and they were a bubble team coming out of the strong Sec with a 9-9 SU mark, but managed to compile an 11-5-2 ATS record while playing the toughest schedule in the nation to make it in the Big Dance. They were able to hang around long enough with Stanford to get a second half 16-0 run enabling them to knock the #1 seed off. Alabama isn't shy about shooting from behind the arc, as their 38.3% long range clip shows, but Bama is vulnerable inside against bigger and stronger teams. If Alabama's guards don't play at their very best, the Tide will get rolled. Syracuse has a balanced attack and the low-post presence that will allow them to get the win and move on to the Elite 8 round. Coming out of the Big East with wins over UCONN and Pitt proves the Orangemen are still the real McCoy and a threat to at least reach the Final Four. Play the Orangemen -2 and get some green in what I see to be an easy cover!
Also playing Pitt + the points and Kansas - the points for 3 units each. I'm wagering 10 units ($1,100/win $1000) on the Orangemen because I think this is the biggest mismatch of the remaining schedule!
