Coming off of a big day on Sunday, lets keep it rolling tonight in the NIT............
5 STAR: HAWAII (-2.5) OVER Nebraska
I really like this match up. Hawaii has one of the biggest home court advantages in college hoops, especially when they are playing a non conference team that does not make the trip to the island on a yearly basis. The Huskers last made the trip to the island in 1997 and got crushed 87-62 as a six point dog, so nobody on this teams roster has made the long trip in the past and that is not an easy thing to do, especially for a team that struggles on the road like the Huskers do. Nebraska is a very bad road team. They did get the win for me last week at Creighton in the opening round of the NIT, but I don't see them winning back to back road games so I believe the Rainbows will cover the small number here. How bad is Nebraska on the road? They have not won back to back road games since 12/27/98 and 12/30/98 when they defeated San Francisco and UMKC (Missouri-Kansas City) in consecutive road games and since then they are 8-52 straight up on the road. The WAC has also proved to be a stronger conference than most people think, just look at the performance of Nevada and UTEP in the NCAA tournament. Nebraska is only 1-5 against the spread in their last six meetings with a WAC team and Hawaii is 3-1 against the spread in their last four games against the Big 12. I think we get some line value here with the Huskers scoring the win at Creighton, but this is a great spot for the Rainbows as they are 6-2 against the spread as a home favorite of three points or less. Lay the points here!
2 STAR: St. Louis (+5.5) OVER NOTRE DAME
Not a lot of stats or trends favor St. Louis in this matchup, this is more of a gut feeling, but I really think the Billikens pull off the upset here. I never trust the Irish as a favorite, and can see them losing this game. At the very least St. Louis should keep it close.
2003-2004 NCAA BASKETBALL RECORD
10 STAR RECORD 0-1 (-11.0 UNITS)
5 STAR RECORD 34-22-3 (+49.0 UNITS)
3 STAR RECORD 71-45-3 (+56.0 UNITS)
2 STAR RECORD 101-82-9 (+21.6 UNITS)
1 STAR RECORD 104-98-3 (+3.8 UNITS)
OVERALL RECORD 310-248-18 (+119.4 UNITS)
A $100 player would be up $11,940.00
