great job. where have u been all season? do u handicap nba and football?
Dear Vinnie,
First of all, thanks.
Secondly, to answer the question of where have I been all college hoops season? Well, I posted a few picks at the very beginning of the college hoops season but I stopped for a few different reasons:
a) I was very busy at work and at home and the holidays didn't help matters either.
b) There are so many quality cappers on this forum; I thought: "Why add to the confusion of conflicting picks among all these proven people?"
c) It seemed my picks were lost "in the clutter" and I didn't feel they were helping anyone.
Anyway, since I like this forum and respect so many that contribute to it; also the fact that I feel BettorsChat has helped me to some extent become a better bettor (lol)...........I figured I would contribute in other ways like wishing members good luck on their plays or bring up topics of discussion (like buying half points, etc.).
Then I started posting in the "play of the day" thread but quickly realized that I was doing more harm than good. For example, I might have bet six games on a given night and ended up (4-2). Usually, the play I decided to post was one of the losers. I couldn't narrow down the six plays I liked to just one! Because that one play was really no different than the other five. To this day, I will never understand how a single play can qualify as a "play of the day." Any one play can lose on any given day no matter how good it looks! That's why I don't post stars next to my picks; I will, however, make a certain play a "best bet" if I like it more than usual........but I only bet it (1 1/2) times my normal wager. I'm not saying that using stars is bad; I'm just saying that it is not right for me...........I would probably have a great record on my one star picks and a lousy record on my five star ones. It would "kill me'" if I had a winning record but actually lost money!
In conclusion, I finally discovered that the very best way for me to make a positive contribution to this forum was to post ALL of my plays in college hoops and keep a record; I started that on Sat., 2-14-04 and luckily it has been a nice run!
And.......no I don't handicap the NBA as I could never seem to get a grasp on it..........I find CBB to be a much "truer' sport and it is by far my favorite sport to handicap and wager!
I do handicap both college and pro football as well and I like to think that I'm pretty decent at those too.
So that's it...........I have listed the sports below in my order of preference to handicap and wager:
1) college basketball
2) college football
3) pro football
Vinnie,
I hope I answered your questions in a satisfactory manner.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW!
Sincerely,
Bennojd
