  • CBB picks for Sat., 3-13-04

Record: (72-39-1).........includes all posted college hoop picks since Sat., 2-14-04.

**I wager my "regular bets" at my usual wager amount.
**I wager my "best bets" at 1 1/2 times my usual wager amount.
**My usual wager amount is 2.5% of my total bankroll.
**All picks are "regular bets" unless noted: "BEST BET."
    --------------------------------------------------------------------

    SATURDAY, MARCH 13TH........CBB (FINAL PICKS):

    1) 3:05PM/CST -- **MICHIGAN STATE** (+3) over wisconsin [WIN]
    **BEST BET**
--IF THE LINE GOES UP A 1/2 POINT OR DOWN A 1/2 POINT.........THEN I SUGGEST BUYING A 1/2 POINT IN EITHER CASE.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------
    2) 3:00PM/CST -- NC STATE (-2 1/2) over maryland [LOSS]
--I SUGGEST BUYING A HALF POINT HERE DOWN TO (-2).
--IF THE LINE GOES UP TO (-3) THEN I SUGGEST BUYING ONE FULL POINT BACK DOWN TO (-2)........OTHERWISE, JUST BET HALF OF A NORMAL WAGER. THIS SEEMS LIKE A PLAY THAT IS DESIGNED TO BE (-2).......EVEN THOUGH I DO LIKE NC STATE TO WIN BY 7 TO 9 POINTS.......THERE ARE TOO MANY GAMES BEING DECIDED BY MEANINGLESS FREE THROWS LATELY.

    3) 5:05PM/CST -- XAVIER (-1 1/2) over dayton [WIN]
--I SUGGEST PLAYING THE MONEY LINE OR AT THE VERY LEAST BUYING A 1/2 POINT DOWN TO (-1).
--IF THIS LINE GOES TO (-2).........I THEN SUGGEST BUYING ONE FULL POINT BACK DOWN TO (-1).

    4) 6:00PM/CST -- WESTERN MICHIGAN (-4 1/2) over kent st. [WIN]
--I SUGGEST BUYING A HALF POINT HERE DOWN TO (-4).

*Update: (3-1) today w/ an updated record of (75-40-1) in posted college hoop picks since Sat., 2-14-04.*

In my opinion, the rest of the games on the card are all tough calls; there are some great matchups and good games to watch but they are all ones that could very well go down to the wire. I do like these 4 plays so I will be content with betting just them!

*I will try and post my picks for Sunday by early tomorrow morning.*

Good luck and I hope everyone has a nice weekend!

    Sincerely,
    Bennojd

        Logan:

Thanks for the wishes of good luck.
I realize that it seems a little fanatical when I suggest all those scenarios for buying half points.
I don't normally do it to this extreme but it has to do with these games at this juncture in the season having in my opinion a greater chance of being close.
I always make picks thinking (and hoping) that they will cover by a healthy margin.
However, after having been on a nice winning streak, I would rather give up a little in the form of winnings versus losing a close one (or two).
That's why I do it a little different at this time of year.
But I always do condone buying half points in the right situation regardless of the time of year. I firmly believe that the games that push or (win) instead of losing by the hook make up for the loss in odds........but I will say it again: buying half points needs to be done in the right situations!
