Handicapper: Larry Ness
League: College Basketball
Event: Wisconsin vs Michigan State on 03-13-2004 at 13:05
Condition: Michigan State
Grade: Ungraded
Explanation: Mich St played a BRUTAL non-conference schedule and the team struggled to a 5-6 start. After opening its Big-10 schedule by getting TOASTED at Wisconsin, things looked bleak for the Spartans. The team however JELLED and wound up 12-4 in the Big-10, tied with Wisconsin for second place. The Spartans could have tied Ill for the title but lost its rematch with Wisconsin in East Lansing 68-64 in OT! In that game, MSU's best player (Paul Davis), missed the late stages of the game, most likely costing the Spartans BIG TIME! Here MSU gets a third crack at Wisconsin and I believe, matches up well with the Badgers. Inside Davis has no equal and although there's no denying that Whisky's point guard Devin Harris (nearly 20 ppg) is a great player, the rest of Wisconsinn's perimeter game is fairly average while the Spartans are getting nearly 40 ppg on the perimeter with Hill, Torbert, Brown and Ager! As well as Bo Ryan has done at Wisconsin (two titles and one second place finish in the Big-10 in three years), yesterday's win over pathetic Minn was his FIRST Big-10 Tourney win! Third time IS the charm for MSU! Big-10 Tourn GOY 10* Mich St.
