This is the last time I will post there record, just thought it was only fair(they had a pretty good night). The Lakers have been horrible on the road this season, but they are much better historically on the road after a loss and they qualify in a 119-60-4 ATS road bounce-back situation as long as they’re not favored by more than 8 points. Washington, meanwhile, is coming off a couple of wins against bad teams and the Wizards qualify in a negative 90-171-5 ATS home underdog letdown situation today. The record is 9-1 ATS for the road team when both of those angles apply in the same game, so I expect the Lakers to play with some intensity in this game. However, my ratings (based on current available players for each team) favor the Lakers by just 6 ½ points and I’m not willing to give up much line value to make them a Best Bet. I will take the Lakers in a 2-Star Best Bet if they are favored by 7 points or less and I’ll consider L.A. a Strong Opinion is they are favored by 7 ½ or 8 points.

St. Joe’s winless season could be in jeopardy today, as I expect a very good effort from the streaking Rams, who have returned to good form recently. Rhode Island has covered 4 straight games, including a Best Bet spread win at St. Joe’s 2 weeks ago. St. Joe’s has shown no signs of slowing up lately, winning by 18 points, 23 points, and 25 points in their 3 games since failing to cover against the Rams at home. However, teams that win 3 or more consecutive games by 15 points or more are bad bets in conference road games and the Hawks apply to a negative 31-76-1 ATS situation that is based on that premise – that angle is 4-21 ATS when applying to favorites of 7 points or more. St. Joseph’s also applies in a very negative 18-58-1 ATS road favorite letdown situation that applies only to teams with a win percentage of .900 or better. Rhode Island, meanwhile, applies in a 49-16-3 ATS home revenge momentum situation, so the technical analysis is clearly on the side of the Rams in this game. My ratings favor St. Joe’s by 10 ½ points, so the line is fair, and I’ll take 9 points or more with Rhode Island in a 2-Star Best Bet.
Upgrade Rhode Island to a 3-Star Best Bet if they are an underdog of 11 points or more.

Georgia Tech enters this game after a couple of upset home losses and I expect the Yellow Jackets to bounce back against an inferior Clemson team. Georgia Tech qualifies in a very good 40-11 ATS road favorite bounce-back situation and the Yellow Jackets are 19-4 ATS after a double-digit loss in 4 seasons under coach Paul Hewitt. Clemson has been a good team to end a losing streak against, as the ACC teams are 6-2 ATS against the Tigers after a loss and 4-1 ATS after consecutive losses. My ratings favor Georgia Tech by 7 ½ points in this game and I’ll lay 8 points or less with the Georgia Tech in a Best Bet.
Downgrade Georgia Tech to a 2-Star Best Bet if they are favored by more than 7 points.

Michigan State qualifies in my favorite college basketball situation, a 62-11-1 ATS big road favorite angle that is 22-1 ATS the last 3 seasons and has accounted for a few 4-Star winners this season (Niagara on Thursday the latest). However, my ratings favor the Spartans by just 9 points in this game, and the lack of line value is taking away some of the strength of the situation. Michigan State is still a good play at -11 points or less (59% chance of covering at - 11) and I’d make them a 3-Star at -10 points or less.
Upgrade Michigan State to a 3-Star Best Bet if they are favored by 10 points or less.

TEXAS (-10 points or less) 80 Texas Tech 63

Texas Tech has had a tendency under coach Bobby Knight of starting the season strong and struggling in Big 10 play and that has been the case again this season. Most of the Red Raiders’ woes come when they leave Lubbuck, as Knight’s squad is just 8-20-1 ATS in conference games away from home, including 1-6 ATS this season. Texas, meanwhile, has a history of playing better in conference play under coach Rick Barnes, especially against mediocre and bad teams, and the Longhorns are now 36-9-2 ATS in regular season conference games when not laying more than 13 points against teams with a win percentage of .750 or less (4-1-1 ATS this season). My ratings favor Texas by 12 ½ points in this game, but that’s not quite enough line value to make the Longhorns a Best Bet unless than line goes down to -10 points or less. I’ll take Texas in a 2-Star Best Bet at -10 points or less and consider the Longhorns a Strong Opinion if they remain favored by more than 10 points.

Arizona struggled without star guard Salim Stoudamire in Thursday’s home loss to Washington, but Stoudamire’s suspension is over and the Wildcats are likely to respond to their 2 game losing streak with a big home win against an inferior Washington State squad. Arizona doesn’t lose consecutive games too often, but they are 9-0 ATS in conference games after back-to-back losses the last 14 years, including wins this season of 25 points at UCLA and by 27 points at home against USC. Arizona also qualifies in a very good 43-12 ATS big home favorite bounce-back situation tonight and my ratings (with Stoudamire for Arizona) favor the ‘Cats by 15 ½ points in this game. I’ll lay 15 points or less with Arizona in a 2-Star Best Bet.

Iowa State has one of the nation’s strongest home court advantages in Hilton Coliseum, but that means that also have one of the nation’s strongest road disadvantages. The Cyclones are a profitable 87-62-2 ATS in regular season home games the last 14 seasons and a negative 71-80-4 ATS away from home in the regular season. That dichotomy has been clearly evident in coach Wayne Morgan’s first season as head coach. Iowa State is 8-3 ATS at home this season and 1-8 ATS on the road and the Cyclones are now 0-13 ATS in their last 13 road games when not getting at least 13 points. Nebraska, meanwhile, is 20-10-1 ATS in conference home games in 4 seasons under coach Collier and my ratings favor Nebraska by 12 points in this game. Not surprisingly, Iowa State won the earlier meeting at home by a 15 point margin and the home team is now 7-1-1 ATS in this series recently. I see that trend continuing and I’ll lay 9 points or less with Nebraska in a 2- Star Best Bet.

Buffalo’s impressive 82-66 upset win over Kent State was the Bulls’ 4th straight victory - the last 3 of which were upset wins. However, teams that win 3 or more consecutive games as underdogs are just 36% ATS in their next game the last 14 seasons and Buffalo applies to a negative 10-43-1 ATS subset of that angle (as well as an 0-19 ATS portion of that angle). The Bulls also apply to a more general 47-113- 7 ATS road letdown situation, but I’m reluctant to go with Miami-Ohio because of a lack of line value. My ratings favor The Redhawks by just 5 points in this game and they’d only be worth a Best Bet at -6 points or less (59% chance of covering at -6 points). Miami-Ohio is still a pretty good play at the current line of -7 points (57%), so I’ll take Miami-Ohio in a 2-Star Best Bet at -6 points or less and consider the Redhawks a Strong Opinion if they remain favored by more than 6 points.

Arkansas has won 4 of their last 5 home games, with they only loss coming against highly ranked Mississippi State. The Razorabacks’ 82- 66 upset home win last Saturday over South Carolina sets them up in a very good 61-23-4 ATS home momentum situation against a Florida team that has struggled away from home over the years. The Gators have been significantly better at home under coach Billy Donovan, going a profitable 50-34 ATS at home and a break-even 48-45-1 ATS away from Gainesville. Arkansas, meanwhile, has been better at home over the years than they’ve been away from Fayettville and that trend has remained intact under 2nd year coach Stan Heath (12-10-1 ATS at home; 7-12-1 ATS away from home). My current ratings favor Arkansas by 4 points in this game (Florida is about a point worse without departed Christian Drejer) and I’ll take 4 points or more with Arkansas in a 2- Star Best Bet.
Upgrade Arkansas to a 3-Star Best Bet if they are an underdog of 6 points or more.
