3 Stars: Utah (-5) vs. Air Force
This is a HUGE game in the Mountain West Conference, the
type of game which Air Force has NEVER played in.
They will be very loud and hostile in Ute land
this afternoon. All of this comes as Air Force is
playing by far their worst basketball of the season,
coming off a loss at Texas Pan American this week on
the road. Utah is 14-0 at home this season and 8-3
ATS while AFA is only 1-3 ATS in their last five. The
odds-makers still love the Academy, thus the
relatively low line here. Utah comes in steaming
after losing to lowly Wyoming on the road. Bottom
line here is this one could get very ugly.


3 Stars: Cincinnati (-5) vs. Louisville
Its payback time in another huge Saturday showdown,
this time in Conference USA. Both teams enter this
game struggling, but the Bearcats have plenty of
reason to turn in their best performance of the
season. Cincinnati is 8-1 ATS in home games versus
teams who make 8 or more 3 pointers per game since 97.
Louisville is 0-6 ATS this season after failing to
cover 3 of 4 ATS this year. Finally the Cardinal are
reeling going 1-4 SU in their last five and 1-4 ATS in
the same span. Cincinnati is 2-0 ATS at home vs
Louisville in the last three seasons. Like the
Bearcats in this spot quite a bit.


3 Stars: KSU (-4.5) vs. Colorado
Colorado has been one of the worst road teams in the
country for a while now, and KSU has been one of their
chief nemeses' during that period. Colorado is coming
off a big but possibly costly win against Texas Tech
Wednesday night. Michel Morandais came up lame after
twisting his knee after dunking. He returned to the
game and played well but KSU will be ready to hound
him which will limit his productivity somewhat. If
Colorado's best pure scorer and defensive player is
slowed a little, this game may not be competitive.
KSU is 5-1 ATS versus Colorado in all games over the
last three seasons and should have beaten Colorado in
Boulder two weeks ago. Colorado is only 7-23 ATS
after winning 4 or 5 of their last six games over the
last three seasons. Colorado returns to .500 today,
and KSU gets a cover.


2 Stars: Gonzaga (-11.5) @ Tulsa
When this one was scheduled, you know ESPN thought
they had a dandy. Tulsa, however, has turned out to
be a pretty bad basketball this season. Tulsa enters
this one 0-5 SU and 1-4 ATS in their last five. Tulsa
is also 1-5 ATS after playing a game as a home
favorite this season. They were blown out by Nevada
at home last month, and Nevada is no Gonzaga. Gonzaga
is 2-0 ATS since 1997 against good Tulsa teams and
this one ain't so good. They're actually piss poor.
Zags it is.


2 Stars: West Virginia (+6) vs. Pittsburgh
Call this a hunch. This reeks of a let down spot for
Pitt when they travel to the much improved
Mountaineers on Saturday night. Well, WVU is 5-1 ATS
after five straight games committing 14 or less
turnovers since 1997. WVU also enters this contest
10-2 SU at home and 6-1 ATS, while having won four in
a row at home and covering all four contests. Take
the Mountaineers here.


2 Stars: St. Johns (+15) @ Virginia Tech
St. John's has been through hell this season. The
Johnnies, however, are a respectable 4-4 ATS on the
road this season, while Va. Tech is only 3-5 ATS at
home. The lines-makers were burned initially after all
of the suspensions at SJU. The lines being released
are still a bit high, witness them getting points at
home from Gtown this week. A game they won outright
easily. Throw in the fact that SJU is 7-0 ATS in road
games playing a team with a losing record over the
last three years and we'll take the points here.


2 Stars: Vanderbilt (-7.5) vs. LSU
Vandy has been 15-3 ATS vs. good defensive teams over
the last three years. Vandy is 13-1 SU at home this
season and 8-4 ATS. LSU's star player Lloreda is
hobbled and may not play in this one. Vanderbilt has
covered the only matchup between these two teams in
Nashville in the last three years. I like the
Commodores to get it done here.


2 Stars: Baylor (+11) vs. Missouri
Baylor is 7-1 ATS after two or more consecutive losses
this season. They are also 5-1 ATS against Missouri
since 1997. That is ATS domination. Throw in the
fact that Mizzou will be looking forward to its home
date with Oklahoma St. next Tuesday and I like Baylor
to get the cover here.
