This thread is tough!!!
I really like the ALL SPORTS DISCUSSION on Bettors Chat and I thought that I could contribute to the forum by putting a pick in this "TOP PLAY OF THE DAY" thread maybe 4-6 times a week because with college hoops I wager just about every day except on Ivy league Friday........and I will have an occasional pass on other days depending of course on how I like the card for that day.
Anyway, I won't post in this thread any longer because it is just too difficult! Now I know this is not a big deal and it won't take the skin off of anybody's nose but I would still like to explain:
I do want to contribute to the forum in a positive way and thought this (TOP PLAY OF DAY thread) was the way to do it because there are so many cappers posting seperate threads with their picks........I don't want to add any more clutter to an already busy forum even though I've had a good (college & pro) football season and a decent college hoops season (so far) as well. But there are enough good cappers already in this forum so I don't feel good about posting my picks in a seperate thread. It is difficult now to sort through all the picks on each side of a particular game and there are so many different opinions (which only makes sense) on a given game even if you follow just a few select cappers. So I don't feel that posting my picks in a seperate thread is a positive contribution to the forum.
OK.......back to why I think this (TOP PLAY OF THE DAY thread) is so difficult and why I won't post here any longer:
***On Tuesday, 2-10.....I posted a loser [Princeton (-2) over Penn] but I went 4-2 for the night in college hoops.
***On Wednesday, 2-11.....I posted yet another loser [Rhode Island (-3) over Temple] but I went 4-3-1 for the night in college hoops.
It makes me sick to post a loser when I really had a winning night overall. Now this has nothing to do with trying to look like I'm a good capper.......gambling is about winning money over time and has nothing to do with glory.......I don't care about looking like I know more than anyone else because I don't!!....... And believe me (I know) that nobody wagered on these losing games solely because they saw my posts. The amount of views to this thread is relatively low on a daily basis anyway plus it's not like I have a big following; or any following for that matter!
***It makes me sick because when I post a loser (yet really had a winning night)........that is a disservice to the forum and is not a positive contribution.***
When I narrow down a card and have six or eight games I plan to wager: Which one is the TOP PLAY OF THE DAY??
I haven't the slightest clue!!.........so I just randomly selected one of the games that I was wagering..........it turns out it might be a good system to fade (LOL) but that's not what I'm about.
My philosophy is that on any given day (or night)......no one play is necessarily stronger than any other play despite how good a game may look. That's why I wager the same amount on all games except an occasional 1 1/2 times play or a rare double play or a "once in a blue moon" triple play.......10 star games sometimes lose badly and 1 star games sometimes win easily and that's why I don't buy into that type of wagering. Of course it's OK if that's what a particular bettor prefers.
If I could somehow have a TOP PLAY OF THE DAY that won consistently........I would only wager that one game!!!
Unfortunately, that is not the case so I play multiple games during the course of a season and just hope I show a decent profit in the end!!
Asking for a TOP PLAY OF the DAY portrays that it should be a better play and a stronger play but in reality it is no different than any other ORDINARY play and it can lose just as easily as any other play does!!........it is only hype!!
I APPRECIATE ALL THE HARD WORK AND INSIGHTS MANY OF YOU GIVE TO THIS FORUM AND THAT HAS HELPED ME BECOME A BETTER BETTOR (lol). SO IN TURN I WILL TRY AND FIND A POSITIVE WAY TO CONTRIBUTE........but posting my "top play of the day" is certainly not the answer!!!!!!!
Sincerely,
Bennojd

Bennojd :
I find it refreshing to see someone tell the truth about this bizz , and its a shame someones always posting a 10* of the week month or year .
Its all totally hog-wash and has been since day one but it garners attention which is all its about anyway . I learned about 20 years ago when I see such nonsense to stear-clear of it all together. I dont condone such methods and will never say such even when asked to and its so funny that almost on a daily basis I see one here and more often than not I or someone else has already posted it but because of the good-ole " 10* " title it has a billion hits .
It shows one all they need to know about the so called gambler and his mentality ( or lack thereof ) . There are members here that use it often and I cant help but laugh to myself because they have yet to learn how to say something without flash-bulbs attached or front page for me only attitude .
Anyway do what you will , and the best to ya in whatever your heading but I just had to give you cudos for speaking so loud but yet so softly !
G.L.

Bennojd-I agree wholeheartedly with you and Memphis.
There are a few services which have outstanding records on big plays or GOY's like Northcoast.
By and large, however, I think as in stock market diversification is a better way to bet rather than putting all of your money into one stock(in this case one game).
I have been doing this stuff with mixed results for a long time, and personally feel that for me anyways my comfort level is better with spreading the money out over several games a night rather than just focusing on one.
It is certainly is ok to step out once in a while and bet something larger especially if you are doing ok.
There are those who would argue and state that betting only 1 game a day(if that) is the way to go to make money, and I suppose that some have made money using that system.
The number of games one bets a night is left to one's own personality and temperament(and of course how many games are worth betting for that night).
What I find interesting is that Memphis and EZ, who are for my money the best day in and day out cappers, have a different approach to how many games to bet-Memphis a lot and EZ(John_ fewer.
Both systems work for them, and that is what counts.
Anyways, enough rambling and thanks again for that very nice post.
