    ASHTON SPORTS

    Pro Basketball:
    1 Unit on Orlando Magic -6 -110
NBA FREEBIE: ORLANDO The Grant Hill mystery is over. That guy will be on the Injured List until his ankle is better; translation, he is done. It was an expensive investment on Orlando’s part but now they have got to realize that it is T-Mac’s show and Mike Miller will have to pick up Hills slack. The Magic are still the 4th highest scoring team in the East at 97 PPG and play against a Raptor team that’s allowing 95.3 PPG. Toronto had a 2 game win streak sandwiched between 14 SU losses including their last 2. The Raptors have shot less than 40% in the last 2 games and are 4th from last in the league at 41.3%. Toronto is 5-14 SU/6-13 ATS at Air Canada Center dropping 3 of the last 4 to the Magic at home.

    Championship Games

Sunday, January 19th 3:00 PM EST.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (13-4) at Philadelphia Eagles (13-4)
Both teams are tough and will make this a defensive brawl with solid defenses. Philadelphia is 11-6 this season and 7-1 the last eight games with a better offense then the Bucs and are playing at Veterans Stadium in cold weather. Tampa’s defense gets the edge in this contest. However, the home advantage is the killer in this battle. The Eagles are 7-2 ATS at Veterans Stadium this season.

    Philadelphia Eagles - 4

Sunday, January 19th 6:30 PM EST.

Tennessee Titans (12-5) at Oakland Raiders (12-5)
The Raiders’ offense with its strong passing attack will be to much for Tennessee vulnerable secondary, but the Titans have covered four of the last five meetings. Take the points. It is a championship battle and Tennessee will make it a tough fight.

    Tennessee Titans + 8

    Saturday, January 19th , 6:30 p.m. EST.
    Oakland 28, Tennessee 21
The Raiders are 7-2 ATS their the last nine games, but are a awful, 1-7 against the spread in the last 8 games against Tennessee. Look for QB Rich Gannon to attack the Titans weak pass defense.

      Divisional Championships

      TB VS. PHil

Weather Forecast: Partly Cloudy Hi 55º/ Lo 22º

      TB (+4) by 4

      Tampa Bay (+4) 21 – PHILADELPHIA 17
Veterans Stadium Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (Nexturf / 65,352)

Eagles dominated Vick and co. LW, and answered any questions regarding the health of QB McNabb. Despite a roster shakeup, tumultuous year, the Eagles stayed even keel, averaging 26ppg on 350ypg. The rushing offense proved it could win games, gaining 139 YR per game, while McNabb and his backups made all the necessary plays. Obviously, McNabb’s dual threat capabilities provide quite a different attack to prepare for. On defense, the Eagles shine, holding foes to just 15ppg on 297ypg. With two Pro-Bowl corners and an All-Pro Safety, the Eagles are stout against the pass, holding opposing offenses to just 193 YP per game.

The Bucs must be overjoyed that QB Johnson is "back" in the fold. With him in the lineup, the Bucs are averaging 22ppg on 313ypg. The passing attack is averaging 215ypg, and is the new focal point of this West Coast attack. But the Bucs can still run when needed, though they are only averaging 97 YR per game. Look for "(not) good hands" Alstott (4 fumbles in 146 carries TY) to get plenty of clock chewing carries. Top defense in the NFL is holding opposing offenses to a shockingly low 12ppg on just 253ypg. The unit is a powerhouse against the pass (155 YP per), just ask Niner Garcia (3 picks LW).

This one will absolutely be a defensive battle, but the big question is: can the Bucs pull out a victory in Philly, in the Winter? Something tells us their defense will show up this year, while their offense should squeeze out just enough. McNabb and co. won’t go down without an epic fight, but we think the Buc defense is just too strong to roll over, especially with fiery HC Gruden running the O.

      Recommendation: Tampa Bay Buccaneers +4

      OAK VS. Tenn

      OAK (-7½) by 10

      OAKLAND (-7½) 30 – Tennessee 20
Network Associates Stadium Oakland, California (Grass / 63,026)

Titans "fall" into this one, after a phenomenal game LW against the Steelers. On the year, the offense has posted averages of 23ppg on 329ypg. Unit revolves around multi-talented QB McNair, and is getting 122 YR, with 207 YP per game. Not impressive numbers, but this unit usually scraps their way to score. On defense the Titans are holding foes to 20ppg on 310ypg. The squad is very tough against the run, allowing just 89 YR per game, but can be beaten through the air (221 YP per), as the Steelers proved (257 YP).

The Raiders come in with likely their last chance at glory. What should be a rickety offense is putting up 28ppg on 390ypg. The nickel and dime passing unit is averaging 280 YP per game, while RB’s Garner and Wheatley quietly compliment with 110 effective YR per game. The defense has improved virtually every game of the year, holding foes to 19ppg on 311ypg. Problem is, the secondary is allowing 220 YP per game, and comes in severely banged up, though it faced the same predicament LW and shut down Pennington and the Jets….

The Titans have the X-factor in the never say die McNair, but don’t forget that the Raiders already hung 50-points on the Titans this year. The Raiders have the offense, the veteran leadership, and a strong enough defense to contain McNair and co. McNair will make enough plays to keep the Titans close for most of the game, but in the end, the Raider offense should be able to pull away, covering those 7 ½.

      Recommendation: Oakland Raiders -7.5

            Bookie Killer
Today's Pick: Vancouver / Detroit UNDER
The NHL's best rivalry lived up to its name Thursday night as the Detroit Red Wings skated to a 4-2 victory over the Colorado Avalanche in their first meeting since Game 7 of the 2002 Western Conference Finals.

Brendan Shanahan scored twice, including the game-winner at 12:42 of the third period, to hand Colorado its fourth straight home loss.
The Wings have the 7th best defense in the league, allowing only 2.4 gpg. The Canucks are even better on the road, ranked 5th, allowing only 2.3 gpg. This is a matchup of two top teams, expect the total to go UNDER here. Take the UNDER 5.5 goals !!!
