-- Road teams posted a 3-1 ATS record in Week 10

-- Home teams are 24-15 SU overall
-- Road teams are 20-18 ATS overall
-- The 'Under' is 22-17 overall

    Analysis

    Winnipeg (7-2 SU, 6-3 ATS)
was able to double up the lowly BC Lions (1-8 SU, 2-7 ATS), 32-16. After failing to cover in each of the past three, the Blue Bombers were able to cover for the first time since Week 6. They’re a perfect 5-0 SU at home while covering in all but one of those contests. The under has hit in three of those five outings at home, including their Week 10 victory against BC.

For the Lions, they have really struggled both straight-up and against the number. They have allowed 32 or more points in each of the past five outings, with the over going 3-1 in the past four. BC has covered just twice in nine outings this season, and they haven’t covered in consecutive games. They’re 2-4 ATS in six road games this season, and 0-3 SU/ATS at home.

On Friday, Edmonton (6-3 SU, 4-5 ATS) was able to get back on track against struggling Toronto (1-7 SU, 3-5 ATS). The Eskimos posted the 41-26 victory, winning consecutive games straight-up for just the second time this season. Their over result was a rarity for the league’s No. 1 defense, as the under was 6-0 entering play.

For the struggling Argonauts, they’ve won just one of their eight outings overall, although they’re a respectable 3-3 ATS over the past six. They hang their hats on the fact the offense is finally starting to click a little bit, especially against some of the CFL’s upper-echelon teams. Toronto averaged just 12.5 points per game (PPG) in their first six outings, all losses, while averaging 27.0 PPG in the past two weeks against Winnipeg and Edmonton. As such, the over has cashed in consecutive games for the Argos for the first time this season.

Hamilton (7-2 SU, 6-3 ATS) was able to post the impressive 21-7 road victory at Ottawa (3-6 SU, 4-5 ATS) to keep a little distance between the top two and bottom two teams in the East. The Tabbies have won two in a row, and four of the past five, and they haven’t lost consecutive games straight-up this season. The ‘under’ has hit in four of the past five, too. The favorable schedule continues, as they travel to meet the lowly Lions next week.

Montreal (4-4 SU, 5-3 ATS) was angry after that ridiculous Week 9 weather-shortened loss. They took out their frustrations on Calgary (5-4 SU, 3-6 ATS), who have been very ordinary this season. The Alouettes snapped a two-game losing streak and non-cover straight. The Als have allowed 29 or more points in five of their eight contests overall. For the Stamps, they have managed 23 or more points in three straight, and eight of nine overall.

    Team Betting Notes

-- Winnipeg and Edmonton kick off Week 11 on Friday night at Commonwealth Stadium. The Bombers enter 19-8 ATS in the past 27 against winning teams, 12-5 ATS in the past 17 overall and 7-3 ATS in the past 10 vs. West. They’re also 22-10 ATS in the past 32 road contest.

-- The Esks have posted just two victories in the past seven against winning teams. They’re 0-5 ATS in the past five following a cover while going 1-12 ATS in the past 13 in Week 11. They’re also 2-5 ATS in the past seven tries against the Bombers.

-- Ottawa enters the new week having over 28 of their past 39 on the road as they travel to Regina to battle the Roughriders. Ottawa is 4-1 ATS in the past five trips to Saskatchewan, while the over is 5-0 in the past five meetings in Regina, and 4-1 in the past five meetings overall.

-- The Riders have been hot against the number lately, going 5-2 ATS in the past seven at home, 5-2 ATS in the past seven against losing teams and 4-0 ATS in the past four overall. They’re also 4-0 ATSA in the past four following a bye. The under is 5-1-1 in the past seven at home for the Riders. However, the over is 4-0 in their past four after a bye, 5-0 in the past five meetings in Saskatchewan and 4-1 in the past five in this series overall.

-- Hamilton and BC hook up in Vancouver at Saturday night. The Lions limp in 2-10 ATS in the past 12 overall, 1-5 ATS in the past six against winning teams and 0-4 ATSA in the past four at home. However, they’re 4-1 ATS in the past five vs. HAM, while the over is 10-4 in the past 14 meetings overall in this series, and 9-1 in the past 10 battles in the Pacific Northwest.

-- We haven’t had a Sunday battle in a while, but Montreal and Toronto square off at high noon in Hogtown in Week 11. The Als are 10-2 ATS in the past 12 on the road, while going 10-3 ATS in the past 13 overall and 8-2 ATS in the past 10 vs. East. For Toronto, they have failed to cover eight in a row against the East while going 3-9 ATS in the past 12 overall. In this series, the Alouettes have covered 19 of the past 26 trips to Toronto, while cashing in five of the past seven. The under is 18-7-1 in the past 26 meetings in this series, and 7-2 in the past nine in Toronto.

-- The Alouettes look to rebound after a difficult loss against the Roughriders last week in that weather-shortened game. They face a tough trip to Calgary. Montreal is 9-2 ATS in the past 11 road games, while connecting in eight of their past 10 against winning teams.

-- The Stamps are 1-4 ATS in the past five against losing teams, and 1-5 ATS in the past six following a straight-up loss. However, they're 24-7-1 ATS in the past 32 games in the month of August. The under has been the way for both teams lately, going 10-4 in Montreal's past 14 road games, and 5-1 in the past six overall for Calgary. In this series, the under is 8-2 in the past 10 meetings, including 4-1 in the past five in Calgary. Montreal has covered eight of the past nine meetings with Calgary, too.

CFL Betting Notes - Week 11

      Week 10 Betting Recap

Winnipeg remains the team to beat in the West Division with last Thursday’s 32-16 victory against British Columbia as a heavy 10 ½-point home favorite. Edmonton was able to keep pace in that division race with a 41-26 road victory over Toronto as a 7 ½-point favorite on Friday night.

Saturday’s CFL doubleheader of action kicked things off with Hamilton knocking off Ottawa 21-7 as a 2 ½-point road favorite to maintain possession of first place in the East Division. The stunner of the week north of the border was Montreal’s wild 40-34 overtime victory over Calgary. The Alouettes closed as five-point road underdogs.

      Friday, Aug. 23

Winnipeg Blue Bombers (7-2 SU, 6-3 ATS) at Edmonton Eskimos (6-3 SU, 4-5 ATS)
      Point-spread: Edmonton -3 ½
      Total: 47

      Game Overview

The Blue Bombers wrapped up the first half of their regular season schedule with their first cover against the spread in their last four games. The total stayed UNDER 52 ½ points against BC and it has stayed UNDER in three of their last five outings. Matt Nichols went a very efficient 10-for-12 throwing the ball for 179 yards and a score. Andrew Harris rushed for 70 yards to become the all-time CFL leader in yards from scrimmage for a Canadian player.

Edmonton remains just one game off the pace in the West coming into this week’s showdown. It has won three of its last four games straight-up with the total staying UNDER in six of nine games this season. The Eskimos faced Winnipeg on the road in Week 3 and came up short in a 28-21 loss as five-point underdogs. In Friday’s road victory against Toronto, Trevor Harris padded his lead as the CFL’s top passer this year with 420 yards through the air. Greg Ellingson was his top target with 10 receptions for 170 yards.

      Betting Trends

-- Edmonton is 9-3 SU in its last 12 home games against Winnipeg, but the Blue Bombers have a 7-3-1 edge ATS in the last 11 meetings overall. The total has stayed UNDER in six of the last seven meetings in Edmonton.

      Saturday, Aug. 24

Ottawa RedBlacks (3-6 SU, 4-5 ATS) at Saskatchewan (5-3 SU, 6-2 ATS)
      Point-spread: Saskatchewan -10 ½
      Total: 49

      Game Overview

Ottawa’s fast 2-0 start has faded fast with just one SU win in its last seven games. The loss to Hamilton was the first time the RedBlacks failed to cover in their last four games. The total has stayed UNDER the closing line in four of their last five contests. With just seven points in Saturday’s loss, they have failed to score more than 16 points in four of their last five games. Dominique Davis only completed 20 of his 40 passing attempts for 238 passing yards.

Coming off last week’s bye, Saskatchewan has won its last four games both SU and ATS. It started the season 0-2 SU including a 44-41 loss to Ottawa in Week 2 closing as a 4 ½-point road underdog. The Roughriders are 3-1 ATS at home this season and 4-1 ATS in five games closing as favorites. Cody Fajardo is fifth in the CFL in total passing yards (1,871). He has completed a solid 74.2 percent of his 198 passing attempts and he has seven touchdown throws against four interceptions.

      Betting Trends

-- Ottawa has a SU 4-1 edge in the last five meetings and it is 5-1 ATS in its last six road games against the Roughriders. The total has gone OVER in the last five meetings played in Saskatchewan.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats (7-2 SU, 6-3 ATS) at British Columbia Lions (1-8 SU, 2-7 ATS)
      Point-spread: Hamilton -4
      Total: 50

      Game Overview

The Tiger-Cats’ lead in the East over Montreal remains at 3 ½ games at the halfway point of their season. Their lone loss within the division was to the Alouettes in early July. Two weeks ago, Hamilton beat BC 35-34 at home, but it could not cover as 9 ½-point favorites. The total went OVER 51 ½ points in that game, but it has stayed UNDER in four of its last five contests. Dane Evans continues to fill in for an injured Jeramiah Masoli at quarterback. Evans completed 24-of-39 passes for 299 yards and a score against Ottawa on Saturday. He also tossed a pair of interceptions.

The Lions’ current SU losing streak reached five games with Thursday’s loss and they have failed to cover the spread in five of their last six games. The total stayed UNDER 52 ½ points in that latest loss after going OVER in each of their previous three games. BC is allowing an average of 34.2 points per game which is the second most in the CFL. The offense is averaging 19.8 PPG during this current five-game slide. Mike Reilly went 16-for-28 throwing the ball for 177 yards and one interception against zero passing touchdowns.

      Betting Trends

-- BC has lost four of its last five games against Hamilton SU, but it still holds a 6-3 edge ATS in the last nine games of this inter-division tilt. The total has gone OVER in five of the last seven games between the two.

      Sunday, Aug. 25

Montreal Alouettes (4-4 SU, 5-3 ATS) at Toronto Argonauts (1-7 SU, 3-5 ATS)
      Point-spread: Montreal -6
      Total: 55 ½

      Game Overview

Montreal has been the biggest surprise in the first half of the regular season. Following a SU 0-2 start, it has now won four of its last six games SU and ATS. The total went well OVER 49 ½ points in Saturday’s upset and it has gone OVER in four of the Alouettes’ last six games. One of the big reasons for the team’s early success has been the play of Vernon Adams Jr. at quarterback. He threw for 389 yards and two scores against Calgary, but he was also picked off twice. He added another 38 yards and two touchdowns running the ball.

The Argonauts are going nowhere fast with just one SU win this season. The have closed as double-digit underdogs in five of their first eight games. Mcleod Bethel-Thompson continues to get the call at quarterback. He threw for 200 yards and two scores in Friday’s loss while running the ball five times for 38 yards. Toronto is averaging 16.1 PPG on offense while allowing an average of 35.3 points a game on the other side of the ball.

      Betting Trends

-- Toronto is 4-1 SU in its last five home games against Montreal, but the Alouettes have the 5-2 edge ATS in the past seven meetings overall. The total has stayed UNDER in seven of the last nine meetings in Toronto.
