As if St. John’s season wasn’t bad enough, the Red Storm have now suspended or expelled 6 players from the basketball team after the group broke curfew to go to a strip club. Included in that group are Ingram and Reynolds, the Red Storm’s top two scorers, and two top reserves. St. John’s was very thin to begin with and they now have just 3 players remaining that average 6 minutes per game or more. I don’t have a problem valuing the loss of one or two players, especially when their backups have played enough minutes to me to gauge their effectiveness, but there are too many unanswered questions for me to accurately calculate the value of the lost players in this case. So, I’ll trust the oddsmakers in this case and they opened the line at Boston College by 8 ½, which I’ll assume is fair. Boston College qualifies in a very good 101-31-3 ATS big road favorite momentum situation in this game and the Eagles are 44-20-4 ATS on the road under coach Al Skinner, including 7-2 ATS as a road favorite. With the situation in their favor, the Eagles would be worth taking as a Best Bet up to -10 points. So, I’ll lay 10 points or less with Boston College in a 2-Star Best Bet.

St. Peter’s lost 60-87 at Manhattan last month, but the Peacocks are unbeaten at home and 5-1 ATS on this floor, which should give them the confidence to get their revenge. St. Pete’s also applies to a very strong 47-13-3 ATS home revenge situation that is partly based on their recent good play, which serves to add to the confidence needed to beat a superior team. My ratings favor Manhattan by 4 points, so the line is fair, and the Peacocks are a solid play at +3 points or more in this game (58% at +3 and 60% at +4).

All any team needs to beat up on Loyola Maryland is a reason to do so and Rider’s overtime home loss to Saint Peter’s on Friday night is that reason. The Broncs apply to a very strong 42-11 ATS big home favorite bounce-back situation that is an even better 17-1 ATS if the road team has a win percentage of less than .275 (Loyola is 1-20 straight up). My ratings favor Rider by 21 points in this game and they have the motivation to win by more than that.
Downgrade Rider to a 2-Star Best Bet if they are favored by more than 20 points.
