Baseknock-Can I assume OCD's 5* pick is San Diego as opposed to San Diego St., as both are playing today?

Season Record: 23-16 +6.4 UNITS
Added Looks: 34-30
Halftime Plays: 12-11
*Halftime Service will be active Saturday.
Two plays Saturday:
Purdue at Michigan (-2.5) - 9:15am Pacific
This is a pivotal game for the Wolverines. They have played four of their last five games on the road and return home today for just the second time since students returned from winter break. Surprisingly, this game marks the first sellout of the season at 13,751 seat Crisler Arena. Michigan is currently 3-4 in Big 10 play and will play two more road games at Minnesota and at Iowa following this. They really need this win to keep NCAA tournament hopes comfortable.
Purdue started the season on fire winning 8 of their first 9 games including an upset over Duke, but since then they are just 7-5. They were fortunate to get narrow wins over the top two Big 10 teams, Wisconsin by 2 and Illinois by 4 or things would be looking much worse right now. They have had some very suspect losses at Colorado State, and to both Ohio State and SMU in West Lafayette. Senior guard Kenneth Lowe (best all around player, leads team in both scoring and minutes played) has missed the last two games with a sprained elbow and remains questionable today. He will probably be a game time decision. I expect him to play some but how much he can help his team remains to be seen. Purdue is 3-4 in true road games, but two of the three wins came at Baylor and at Penn State, both very poor teams.
While Purdue played at Penn State on Wednesday night and will be playing back to back road conference games, Michigan has been off since last Saturday and will be playing at home. Wolverines are 9-2 at home this season and have won 8 of their last 11 conference home games. Give the small number.
Michigan 1 UNIT
Oklahoma State at Iowa State (+2.5) - 10:45am Pacific
This is an important game for the Cyclones. They have to be considered one of the biggest Jekyl and Hyde teams in the country. At home they are great, 12-0 overall, 4-0 in Big 12 games. On the road they are a different story, 1-5 overall, 0-3 in Big 12 play. Fortunately for us, this game is being played in Ames, Iowa. The Cyclones have already beaten the likes of Xavier, Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa, and Kansas here this season. I see no reason why they cannot continue their success against Oklahoma State.
I have not been very impressed by the Cowboys this year. They have played four conference games on the road this year. They were beaten soundly by 21 at Texas Tech and were extremely fortunate to escape with a one point win at Kansas State after trailing big throughout the course of the game. Since then they did get a solid 5 point win at Texas but that was a best case scenario followed by a win at Texas A&M. The Cowboys have been outrebounded in two straight games since win at Texas. Having played at Texas A&M on Tuesday, this will be OSU's first back to back road game situation of the season. The Cowboys will be hosting a big showdown with Kansas on Monday and it will it is unlikely they will play their best vs Iowa State today.
Iowa State's freshman guards Stinson and Blalock continue to impress. They have not looked much like freshman all season. Center Jared Homan missed the loss at Baylor three games ago with an ankle injury but came back to average 16.0ppg, 10.5rpg, and 6.5bpg in next two wins earning FoxSports national player of the week honors. Cyclones have won 7 straight Big 12 games at home. Expect the trend to continue.
Iowa State 1 UNIT
Added looks for Saturday:
Notre Dame +4 over Pittsburgh
The Irish gave Pitt all the could handle in first meeting, leading for a good portion of the game. A similar performance in addition to change of venue would put them in the winners circle today. Pitt has only played three conference road games and four total all season. While they did play well at UConn and Syracuse, they were very lucky to escape with a double OT win at Miami, Fla. Pitt has to be feeling good about themselves right now but Notre Dame is fighting for its life. Irish are 0-3 in sellout home games (Indiana, Syracuse, Kentucky). This is one they have to have.
Northwestern +9 over Wisconsin
Upstart Wildcats are 6-2 at home and have beaten the likes of Arizona State, Illinois, and Minnesota (by 14) here. Badgers lost a 32 minute per game player (second highest on team) with the suspension of guard Boo Wade. It was announced this week that injured starting forward Alando Tucker (only appeared in 4 games) will not return this season. Freddie Owens returned from a 3 game absence but shot just 2-for-9 in 25 minutes vs Minnesota in last game. Badgers have been great at home (12-0) but just 2-3 on the road overall and 1-1 in conference (win at Ohio State). Too many points.
Do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or comments.
Good luck,
Edward
