Florida State +7 over Alabama
This could very well be a preview of the national title game in January as both teams are loaded and at the very least, both should be in the playoffs. This is a neutral site game, so no real homefield advantage for both teams, The Noles are led by one of the best defenses in the nation, but can they slow down what will be a very good Alabama offense? I think they can. The offense for Florida state looks really good as well and they will be facing an Alabama defense that will be strong again, but that also has just five starters back and may take a game or two to become dominant. This will be a war and while I feel that Alabama will win the game, they won’t win it by more than four points. Take the Noles to keep this one close.
UMass -2 over Coastal Carolina
The Minutemen have already played a game this year and it was a very tough loss for them as they blew a 14 point 2nd half lead in a three-point loss to Hawaii at home. The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers are making the jump to the FBS level after going 51-15 their last five years at the FCS level. The Chanticleers have just 10 starters back overall and will be taking on a more experienced UMass team that has to be very angry after blowing their game last week. Their offense is solid and while their defense is not, they still have all the edges in this one against a team that is making its first ever appearance on the gridiron as a member of the FBS. Look for the Minutemen to bounce back in this one by at least seven points.
