NCAAF expert picks insiders preview a matchup between the two most underachieving teams in the Pac-12 conference who will meet on Friday night at Cal memorial stadium. Cal comes into this game with a 3-3 record and trying to bounce back after a week off coming off a loss on the road by a score of 47-44 to Oregon State as a 13.5 point favorite. Cal was dominated in all phases of the game against the Beavers and gave up a whooping 474 rushing yards although they still have an opportunity to win behind their prolific offense after trailing by 17 points in the 4th The Oregon Ducks who are have their worst season in 30 years and in the midst of a four game losing streak also comes into this match up with a week off after getting shellacked by the Washing Huskies by a scores of 70-21. Oregon’s defense has struggled in every game this season and had their worst performance two weeks ago as they gave up almost 700 yards of total offense to the Huskies allowing Washington’s quarterback Jake Browning to throw for 304 yards and six touchdowns.
THE OFFENSES:
The week off will help both the Oregon and Cal on offense as the Ducks freshman quarterback Justin Herbert has had time to get more reps before making his second career start after playing well against the Top Ranked Huskies by completing 62 percent of his passes for 179 yards and two touchdowns with one interception. Cal’s starting quarterback David Webb who averages 376 passing yards, 22 touchdowns and seven interceptions has had time for his hand injury that limited him in the Org eon State game to heal and will be ready to go Thursday night along with his top wide out Chad Hansen who has 59 catches and eight touchdowns for a total of 770 yards. The ducks coming into this game as the top rushing team in the Pac 10 while Cal is coming off 299 yards rushing against the Beavers.
WHO WILL WIN?
There is no reason to mention the defense in this matchup because you wont see any played on Thursday night as both teams are ranked among the worst in the country in multiple defensive categories giving up at least 40 points a game so this game will come down to turnovers and who has the ball last. Look for the scoreboard to light up early and often in this one and you can expect both quarterback who will be aided by a strong rushing attack to make big plays down the field. Although Both teams will play much better on offense in this game but we could possible pick a side with the worst defenses in the country. The betting total is extremely high at 87 points but it’s that high for a reason as both teams can easily put up in 50 points between them as we like the Over in this one.
