what happens if ya click on the email?

I got 2 of em yesterday, one I clicked on the email
but DID NOT open any attachments ... just scanned
with Norton and does not indicate any virus .....

noticed in my outlook 2 emails sent to addresses
I have never seen or in my address book that say
something like email stopped because of virus or
    something like that

Yet, just scanned with Norton and indicates no Virus
and again I HAVE NOT opened any attachments

      Doc,

If you opened the emails but did not click on the attachments you should be okay.

Nortons antivirus is not one of the best. They sometimes will not detect the new virsus. You can go to trendmicro and use their online scan that will scan your pc for you. This is the link:

      http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Trendmicro is one of the best anti-virus products on the market.
      Good luck,
      John

        Doc

You should always delete any of those emails that you do not recognize. However, it is the ATTACHMENT that carries the "executeable" file (aka virus) (this one mostly shows up as a .vbs file extension on the attachment. DELETE THEM AND THEN BE SURE TO DELETE THEM FROM YOUR TRASH unless it is set to empty on program exit.

Most virus programs WILL NOT FIND IT AS IT IS VERY NEW and it will not be listed in your Norton Virus program to look for it unless you just downloaded the newest updates from their site today!

For example....those running McAFEE AntiVirus software will need to have the latest scan engine (basically the newest point upgrade they have out) and then download the two NEWEST .DAT files which were released yesterday and today....They are:

        4318 yesterday
        4319 today

This virus is a typical DNS (Denial of Service) garbage which is designed to bog down web sites with useless emails gleaned from everyones address books. HOWEVER it has a nasty twist to it as also installing a "keylogger" through an open port on local PC Users IF THEY OPEN THE ATTACHMENT!

SO DELETE THEM FOR GOOD DOC!! FWIW! gV
I am NOT schizophrenic......and NEITHER am I! Just paranoid that fear may overcome my insanity!

          Fellas:

ok, let me ask ya the following:

got the following message in outlook:

A virus was found in an Email message you sent.
This Email scanner intercepted it and stopped the entire message
          reaching its destination.

The virus was reported to be:

          the W32/Mydoom@MM virus !!!

Please update your virus scanner or contact your IT support
personnel as soon as possible as you may have a virus on your system.

I DID NOT open any attachments ...... doing an Online scan with TrendMicro .... showing 6 infected files so far out of 18,000 scanned ... I take it not good???

          any advice would be appreciated
