A nice 3-1 night on Tuesday, now a 20-5 run the last eight days! These are my plays for Wednesday night.....
3 STAR: Michigan State (-6) OVER NORTHWESTERN
The Spartans struggled out of the gate this season, playing one of the most brutal schedules in the NCAA this season, but it looks like that tough schedule might be starting to pay off. Michigan State has won and covered back to back games against Penn State and Michigan, and though those two teams are not the elite of the Big Ten conference, neither is Northwestern. The Wildcats are 7-8 on the season and 5-1 at home and have impressive wins over Illinois and Iowa, but they have also lost at home to Mississippi Valley State. Those wins over Illinois and Iowa will ensure that the Spartans are focused for this game. The Spartans have also dominated this series, winning 8 out of the last nine meetings, with those eight wins by an average of 18 points per game. Over the last three seasons, Michigan State is a solid 7-2 against the spread as a road favorite of 6 to 9 points, while Northwestern is only 3-8 against the spread as a home underdog of 6-9 points during that same span. I look for another double digit win here by the Spartans!
1 STAR: Cincinnati (+4) OVER LOUISVILLE
The Bearcats are very banged up for this contest, but I still have to take the points in this one. These teams are almost a mirror image of each other. They both have the same style of play and they both go 10 deep on the bench. This game should be close all the way, and I will side with the Bearcats who are 9-0-1 against the spread this season and 7-3 straight up against Louisville in their last ten meetings.
1 STAR: MARYLAND (+4) OVER Duke
Maryland got they win for us last week as a home underdog against the Tar Heels, then they lost their next road game at Georgia Tech. The Terps are a very young team and they will have their ups and downs especially on the road, but you can look for them to play their best at home. The Terps are 5-1 against the spread at home this year, and they have had good success against the Blue Devils at home going 2-0 straight up and against the spread in their last two meetings at Maryland. The Terps are also 6-2 against the spread in their last eight meetings with Duke and the home team has won six straight in this series. I look for another strong effort from the young Terps at home, I'll take the points here!
