Alouettes have trends on their side in East Final

The Montreal Alouettes may have opened as 3.5-point road dogs at the Hamilton Tiger-Cats for their Eastern Final Sunday, but they do have the edge against the spread in recent clashes.

The Als are 5-1 ATS in their last six head-to-head meetings with the Tiger-Cats, and split the two meetings this season. The Ti-Cats' lone cover in those six games was this season's home game, covering as 3.5-point faves in a 29-15 victory.

Montreal already has a playoff game under its belt this season, winning 50-17 in the Division Semifinals against the BC Lions covering as 3-point home favorites.

      Week 22

Keep in mind, both road teams today played last week; home teams had a bye.

Montreal (10-9) @ Hamilton (9-9)-- Last two times these teams met in playoffs, TiCats won game in OT. At one point this season, Alouettes were 2-8, Hamilton 2-7, so two hot teams here. Home side won both series games this year; Alouettes (+1) won 38-31 in Week 10, TiCats returned favor 29-15 (-3.5) two weeks ago, which is Montreal's only loss in last 8 games. . Overall, home teams won last nine series tilts; Alouettes lost last nine games at Hamilton, with last win in 2010. Montreal covered its last three tries as an underdog, TiCats are 4-6 as when favored. Under is 7-2 in last nine Hamilton games, 6-2 in Montreal's last eight games.

Edmonton (13-6) @ Calgary (15-3)-- Stampeders lost at arch-rival Edmonton in 2011 playoffs, but are 10-0 vs Eskimos since then, winning/covering this year's games by 4-15-7 points. Edmonton was 0-3 vs Calgary this year; they were 13-3 against everyone else. Four of last five series games stayed under total, as have six of last seven Eskimo games. Four of last five Calgary games went over total. Calgary QB Mitchell is 15-2 as starting QB; Stamps are 9-3-1 vs spread in last 13 games, covering eight of last nine games against their arch-rival. Edmonton covered eight of its last nine games overall, but only two of last six when an underdog.

Reilly to start at QB in Western Final Sunday

The Edmonton Eskimos have named quarterback Mike Reilly as their starter for Sunday's Western Final versus the Calgary Stampeders.

Reilly was on the bench to begin the Western Semifinal versus the Saskatchewan Roughirders last week as Matt Nichols got the start. Reilly made a relief appearance, going six of eight for 53 yards in the 18-10 Eskimos' victory.

The Eskimos opened as 6.5-point road dogs at most shops for this Battle of Alberta playoff game and the total is currently 48.
