SUNDAY'S FREE PICK: West Virginia at
Georgetown (2:00 ET). As usual, the Hoyas have
played a typically light, early-season home
schedule. They have opened 8-0 at home (they
have lost their only two road games this year at
Virginia and Duke), but the only team they have
met so far in the class of West Va, is South
Carolina, a game they won just 67-59. West Va
is GREATLY IMPROVED this year, from the
disaster of a team they were last season, in
Gale Catlett's final season (8-20). New head
coach John Beilein has his team playing very
good basketball, as the Mountaineers have
opened 9-3. Away from home, they've won
only a neutral-site game over Gardner Webb,
but they have been competitive at UNLV and
Duquesne, losing BIG, at only St Louis! The
Hoyas beat West Va last year twice, by seven
and ten points but this is a MUCH BETTER
West Va team. Although Georgetown owns
the talent-edge, they didn't win by this big of
a spread over last year's West Va team, so
there is little reason to expect them to COVER,
here! Take the points!
