The hardest part about capping baskets is that it's a daily grind and the ending of games can go either way. You may have a game capped perfectly but something "happens" at the end. Do they foul, does an underdog shoot a 3 or drive for a layup as time expires? Although I was 3-1 yesterday, here is what I am talking about:
UConn - Laying anywhere from 5-6'. Tie game with 5 seconds, UConn Napier shoots and the ball goes all around the rim (I think it hit the net) and pops out. UConn then crushes in OT but Memphis scores in the final seconds to get within 5.
St Lou / VCU - This is more about coaching but St Louis was up 12 playing loose with about 10minutes to go. They decide to hold the ball and continue to shoot with under 5 on the shot clock for about 10 possessions....VCU takes the lead. St Louis gets back to their game and go back ahead and win but not enough to cover the 5'.
Vandy - With a line of 5, Vandy player hits 1 FT in OT to go ahead by 5. With 7 seconds to go, he misses the 2nd. Vandy gets the rebound and A&M steals it and scores with 0:00 on the clock.
Baylor - Laying 5 and getting outplayed the entire game. 11 seconds remain and Baylor down 3...They miss a 3, Baylor rebounds, refs do not call a travel and Baylor hits a 3 to tie. They end up winning by DD and covering.
Just needed to share that as some of that makes you think that it could be like the WWF....Crazy Stuff!
