San Antonio Spurs at Houston Rockets (-1.5, 211)
The Houston Rockets had a rough weekend against the Memphis Grizzlies and things don’t get any easier when they host the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday. The Rockets are one of the highest scoring teams in the league but were held to an average of 84 points in back-to-back losses to the Grizzlies. The Spurs are battling through injuries and dropped to 1-1 on their three-game road trip with a loss at Miami on Sunday.
San Antonio is down three starters with Kawhi Leonard (hand), Tiago Splitter (shoulder) and Danny Green out (hand) but has enough depth to cover the gaps against weaker clubs. The Spurs have a tendency to get in trouble against teams with legitimate championship aspirations and have suffered their last three losses against Portland, Oklahoma City and Miami. The Rockets want to be one of those teams with championship aspirations but are still working on consistency. “It’s just so frustrating,” Chandler Parsons told reporters. “We can be so good one night and bad the next. That is something that we have to figure out collectively.”

WHY BET THE SPURS (33-11 SU, 22-22 ATS, 26-17-1 O/U): San Antonio blew out Atlanta 105-79 to start its road trip but could not muster the same effort on the defensive end in an NBA Finals rematch against the Heat on Sunday. “The first and third quarter were basically the same,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich told reporters. “We didn’t do a very good job of starting out defensively. It’s a bad combination if we’re not disciplined enough defensively.” San Antonio ranks fifth in points allowed, at 96.9 points against per game.
WHY BET THE ROCKETS (29-17 SU, 22-22-2 ATS, 21-23-2 O/U): Houston’s starters all scored at least 13 points in the Dec. 25 meeting and James Harden and Chandler Parsons combined to go 8-for-12 from 8-point range. Parsons set an NBA record with 10 3-pointers in a half on Friday against Memphis but the Rockets still suffered an 88-87 home loss, and things got even worse when he cooled off the next night and Houston fell 99-81 on the road. Houston has taken each of the first two meetings this season while scoring an average of 111.5 points

The San Antonio Spurs are the only team in the NBA that haven't lost back-to-back games this season and it's a scenario that has allowed Spurs backers to cash in.
Not only are the Spurs 10-0 SU after a loss this season, they are 9-1 ATS.
The Spurs - who are coming off a loss Sunday at Miami - are in Houston to take on the Rockets Tuesday, where San Antonio is listed as a 1.5-point road dog.

Red Wings at Flyers: What bettors need to know

Detroit Red Wings at Philadelphia Flyers (-137, 5.5)
The Philadelphia Flyers look to break out of their slump when they host the Detroit Red Wings in the finale of their three-game season series on Tuesday. Philadelphia suffered its fourth consecutive setback (0-3-1) and seventh in nine games (2-5-2) on Saturday with a 6-1 home loss to Boston. The Flyers have especially struggled at home, dropping four of their last five (1-3-1) after posting a 10-game winning streak at the Wells Fargo Center.
Detroit, which will be without captain Henrik Zetterberg for a second straight game due to a back injury, is attempting to extend its point streak to four games as it hits the road for two contests following a 3-1-1 homestand. The Red Wings settled for one point Sunday as they squandered a late two-goal lead before falling 5-4 to Florida in a shootout. The Flyers and Red Wings split their first two meetings in Detroit, with each team totaling eight goals.

ABOUT THE RED WINGS (23-18-11): Jimmy Howard will be activated from injured reserve and be available to face Philadelphia, according to the Detroit Free Press. The 29-year-old United States Olympian has missed three games since leaving a loss to St. Louis on Jan. 20 with a knee injury, which also sidelined him for several weeks in December. Howard has struggled when healthy, going 9-12-8 with a 2.64 goals-against average and .916 save percentage in 29 contests.
ABOUT THE FLYERS (25-22-6): Philadelphia has not performed well at either end of the ice lately, scoring fewer than three goals in each of its last three games while allowing a total of 14 in that span. Steve Mason has been pulled from three of his last six starts as he has surrendered 13 tallies on 60 shots in those outings. All three of the contests in which the 25-year-old has been replaced took place at home on a Saturday.

The Toronto Maple Leafs will head into Monday's trip-opening stop in Phoenix fresh off a big win over the rival Canadiens on home ice on Saturday. That marked the Leafs fourth straight victory, but three of those came at home, and two by way of a shootout.
The Coyotes are a force at home, where they're 14-7-3 on the season. Phoenix has righted the ship following an ugly stretch, notching back-to-back wins over the Canucks and Devils. Staying home works in the 'Yotes favor against a 'fat and happy' Leafs squad on Monday.
Lookahead spot
The L.A. Kings have been playing a rather uneven brand of hockey lately, and they'll find themselves in a difficult spot on Tuesday, as they head to Columbus for a non-conference date with the red hot Blue Jackets.
The spot is made even tougher thanks to the game that the Kings have on deck two nights later. That's when they'll head back out west for a matchup against an even hotter opponent, and a rival at that, in the Anaheim Ducks. Don't count on a Tuesday night game in Columbus drawing the Kings full attention.

It's going to be a tough week for the Ottawa Senators, as they pack their bags and hit the road for three games in four nights. After falling in blowout fashion against the Rangers on Saturday, the Sens will make the trip to Washington for a game against the Capitals on Tuesday night.
After enjoying a day off, they'll be back at it in Tampa on Thursday before facing the Hurricanes in Carolina on Friday. We could see a drained Sens squad taking the ice by the time Friday rolls around, and the Canes are never an easy out at home, where they're 11-9-5 this season.Comment
