College football odds: Week 13 opening line report

Practically every week in college football, there’s a major showdown in the Southeastern Conference. That’s certainly the case for Week 13, which is highlighted by reigning Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel and Texas A&M traveling to Baton Rouge to battle LSU.

The Aggies (8-2 SU, 5-5 ATS), coming off a bye, haven’t had trouble in the scoring department all season, scoring 41 points or more in all 10 games. And they’ve racked up huge totals the past few weeks, breaking 50 in each of their last three games while going 3-0 SU (2-1 ATS), including a 51-41 home victory Nov. 9 against Mississippi State – though they fell short of covering in that contest as 19.5-point favorites.

LSU (7-3, 4-5-1 ATS), also coming off a bye, got off to a strong 4-0 SU start this year, but the Tigers are just 3-3 SU (2-3-1 ATS) in their last six games and have failed to cover in their last three outings. That includes a 38-17 loss catching 14 points at top-ranked Alabama on Nov. 9.

Peter Korner, founder of Nevada-based odds service The Sports Club, found the total on this game intriguing, as he expects a shootout in the bayou.

“This is another great game to watch,” Korner said. “The total we sent out is 78, so you know this is going to be an up-and-down game. What Texas A&M game isn't?”

As for the spread, Korner had to give the nod to the host.

“Our range of numbers went from LSU pick to -4.5, and we settled on LSU -3. Of course, Texas A&M has a great chance of winning this game straight up, but playing at LSU this late in the year is a tough challenge for any team – even one led by Johnny Football. We think this line will hold close to our opener by kickoff. A&M has a good, steady flow of cash that has followed them all year.”

Arizona State Sun Devils (-1.5) at UCLA Bruins

ASU (8-2 SU, 5-5 ATS) heads to the West Coast toting a five-game SU win streak (3-2 SU), and the Sun Devils have gotten it done in blowout fashion and grind-it-out fashion. In wins over Colorado, Washington and at Washington State, ASU rang up 54, 53 and 55 points respectively; the past two weeks, the Sun Devils fended off host Utah 20-19 laying seven points and bested visiting Oregon State 30-17, barely failing to cash as a 13.5-point chalk.

It appears UCLA (8-2 SU, 7-3 ATS) has gotten over brutal back-to-back road trips. Since losing 24-10 at Stanford and 42-14 at Oregon, the Bruins have won three in a row, covering their last two while averaging 39 ppg in that stretch, including a 41-31 home win over Washington.

“This is a very good game, and the line is representative of how unpredictable this game is,” Korner said. "Our range of numbers went from UCLA -3 to ASU -2. After discussing the teams overall strengths and recent play, we made ASU the road favorite. We're going to open this game at ASU -1.5 and see where
that takes us. We see the offshores had play on ASU, and that ASU was up to -3. But we're not going that high here in Nevada with the large Los Angeles following we have in our sportsbooks on the weekend.”

Baylor Bears (-11) at Oklahoma State Cowboys

Baylor (9-0 SU) aims to keep its name in the national championship conversation. If scoring and spread-covering ability were part of the BCS formula, the Bears would definitely be No. 1. They average a whopping 61.2 ppg, rolling to a 63-34 win over Texas Tech on Saturday laying 27.5 points at AT&T Stadium, and their 8-1 ATS record (4-0 last four) ranks third in the nation.

Oklahoma State (9-1 SU) is also no slouch at the betting window, with a 7-3 ATS mark (14th), and like Baylor, offense is a big part of the formula. The Cowboys have won six in a row SU and five in a row ATS, scoring 38 points or more four times in that stretch, including two games in the 50s.

“Nevada books continue to get trampled by Baylor each and every week,” Korner said. “We don't want to be light on this team. Our range of numbers went from Baylor -10 to -14. We saw the number diminish from -10.5 to -9.5 early Sunday morning, but we're not falling for that. We stuck a -11 as our opener and fully expected that weak -9.5 to jump back up in no time.”

Northern Illinois Huskies (-2.5) at Toledo Rockets

Northern Illinois (10-0 SU, 7-3 ATS) is looking to become a BCS bowl buster for the second straight year. The Huskies had their hands full at home last week against Ball State, but pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 48-27 win and cover as an 8.5-point favorite. NIU has cashed four in a row and six of its last seven.

Toledo (7-3 SU) has been a good bet this season, with a 7-2-1 ATS mark (10th nationally), and the Rockets’ scoring production has been strong over the past few weeks. Toledo has won five in a row SU (4-1 ATS), scoring 45 points or more in four of those games, including a 51-41 home win over Buffalo as a 5.5-point chalk last week.

“This game will be an excellent one, with two very good teams going at it,” Korner said. “Apparently, it was a no-brainer, as everyone had Northern Illinois -2.5 -- all five of our oddsmakers and the offshores. Nothing to see here, keep it moving.”

Buffalo at Miami (Ohio): What bettors need to know
      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Buffalo Bulls at Miami (Ohio) RedHawks (+24.5, 48)

The Buffalo Bills will likely be playing for top spot in the Mid-American Conference's East Division next week when it tangles with Bowling Green. But first, the Bulls will need a strong showing against Miami (Ohio) as they visit the winless RedHawks on Tuesday night. Buffalo is coming off a wild 51-41 defeat at the hands of the Toledo Rockets last week, while Miami (Ohio) fell to 0-6 in the conference - and 0-10 overall - with a 24-6 loss at the hands of Kent State.

While Buffalo is a heavy favorite against a team that manages just over 220 yards of total offense per game, the Bulls are wise not to look past this game after falling behind 38-0 against Toledo, then watching their stunning second-half rally fall just short. Quarterback Joe Licata was one of the lone bright spots in that one with 497 passing yards and four touchdowns. The RedHawks are playing out the string, having scored just one touchdown in their last three games.

      TV: 8 p.m. ET, ESPNU
LINE: Buffalo enters as a 24.5-point favorite, with the total set at 48.
WEATHER: Temperatures will approach the freezing mark with clear skies.

ABOUT BUFFALO (7-3, 5-1 MAC): Licata has shown plenty of promise as a sophomore, passing for 2,235 yards and 20 touchdowns. Last game marked a career-best in yardage for the native of Williamsville, New York, and he has thrown just one interception in his previous six games. Senior running back Branden Oliver ground out 102 yards against the Rockets, extending his streak of triple-digit rushing games to six while scoring for the the eighth time in four games.

ABOUT MIAMI (OHIO) (0-10, 0-6): There aren't many positives to glean from the RedHawks' performance on either side of the ball, but things have looked particularly dire on offense. Miami (Ohio) is averaging fewer than 10 points per game, with senior quarterback Austin Boucher throwing for just 1,036 yards with seven touchdowns and eight interceptions. The team is averaging only 2.6 yards per carry on the season, with a paltry three touchdowns on the ground.

      TRENDS

      * Bulls are 5-0 ATS against teams with losing records.
      * RedHawks are 6-15-1 ATS in their previous 22 games.
      * Under is 9-3 in Buffalo's last 12 conference games.
      * Over is 5-0 in the last five meetings at Miami (Ohio).

Kent State at Ohio: What bettors need to know
      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kent State Golden Flashes at Ohio Bobcats (-5.5, 49)

Having failed spectacularly in a spoiler role, the Ohio Bobcats will have to settle for a shot at third place in the Mid-American Conference's East Division as they entertain the Kent State Golden Flashes on Tuesday night. The Bobcats tangled with division co-leaders Buffalo and Bowling Green in consecutive weeks, and were promptly routed by a combined score of 79-3. Kent State halted a five-game losing skid last time out with a 24-6 triumph over Miami (Ohio).

Tuesday's game pits new blood against old guard as Ohio senior quarterback Tyler Tettleton duels Kent State freshman signal-caller Colin Reardon. Tettleton was limited to 93 passing yards and an interception in last week's 49-0 drubbing at the hands of the Falcons, while threw for 147 yards and ran for 30 and a score in the victory over the RedHawks. Kent State can finish no higher than fifth in the division, while the Bobcats will secure third place with a victory.

      TV: 8 p.m. ET, ESPN2
ODDS: Ohio is listed as a 5.5-point favorite, with the total set at 49.
WEATHER: Temperatures will approach the freezing mark under clear skies.

ABOUT KENT STATE (3-8, 2-5 MAC): Reardon will conclude what has been an up-and-down season Tuesday, having thrown for 1,744 yards with 11 TDs and nine interceptions - five of which came in losses to Buffalo and Akron that preceded the win over Miami (Ohio). He has thrown just one touchdown pass in the last three games. Trayion Durham posted his second 100-yard rushing game of the season last time out, while scoring for the third consecutive game.

ABOUT OHIO (6-4, 3-3): Tettleton's final collegiate season has been trending in the wrong direction for several weeks now. He threw for 681 combined yards and seven scores in wins over Eastern Michigan and Miami (Ohio), but followed that up with 219 combined yards and zero scores in the losses to the Bulls and Falcons. Beau Blankenship leads the team with 644 rushing yards, but Ryan Boykin has more touchdowns on the ground (six).

      TRENDS

      * Golden Flashes are 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 games following a SU win.
      * Bobcats are 2-8 ATS in their previous 10 home games vs. teams with losing road records.
      * Under is 5-1 in Kent State's last six conference games.
      * Road team is 10-3 ATS in the last 13 meetings.

NIU has two road wins vs Big Dozen teams (Iowa/Purdue) so road isn't a problem for them- they've also run ball for 336 ypg last four games. Underdogs covered eight of last 11 series games. Toledo won its last five games, scoring 45+ points, running ball for 321+ yards in four of the five- they've won all five home games this season. Interesting game. Rockets covered three of four games as an underdog this season.

Northern Illinois at Toledo: What bettors need to know
              ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Northern Illinois Huskies at Toledo Rockets (+2.5, OFF)

Northern Illinois can clinch at least a share of the Mid-American Conference West Division title with a victory Wednesday against host Toledo and assure the No. 21 Huskies a fourth consecutive trip to the MAC championship game. A win by the Rockets in the Glass Bowl would forge a three-way tie for the division lead with Ball State. The No. 1 task for Toledo will be finding a way to stop Northern Illinois quarterback Jordan Lynch, who upped his Heisman Trophy stock by passing for 345 yards and two touchdowns and rushing for 123 yards and two scores in a 48-27 victory last week against Ball State.

Lynch established an FBS record for rushing yards by a quarterback earlier this season when he totaled 316 yards in a 38-17 victory against Central Michigan. Last season against Toledo, Lynch threw for a career-best 407 yards and ran for 162 in the 31-24 victory. The Rockets are riding a five-game winning streak, despite giving up 27 fourth-quarter points in 51-41 victory last week against Buffalo, averaging 45.2 points in that span.

              TV:
              8 p.m. ET, ESPN2.

              LINE:
Toledo opened at +2 home dogs and have been bet to +2.5. The total is currently OFF.

WEATHER: Temperatures will be in the high 30s with an 8 mph wind blowing towards the North end zone.

ABOUT NORTHERN ILLINOIS (10-0, 6-0 MAC):
One of the surprises for the Huskies this season has been the emergence of running back Cameron Stingily. He was limited to four appearances on special teams last season and one rushing attempt after switching to running back in the offseason and figured to be
buried behind Akeem Daniels and Keith Harris Jr. on the depth chart. But Daniels has been sidelined all season with a toe injury and Harris suffered a season-ending ankle injury in October, opening the door for Stingily to rush for 812 yards and nine touchdowns this season - second only to Lynch.

ABOUT TOLEDO (7-3, 5-1): The Rockets have been dealing with their own injuries as running back as David Fluellen, second in the MAC with 133.4 rushing
yards per game, has missed the last two contests with a leg injury and his status against Northern Illinois in uncertain. Fluellen has been replaced by freshman Kareem Hunt, who rushed for 186 yards and a touchdown against Buffalo, his fourth straight game with more than 100 yards on the ground. Fluellen’s pass-catching ability is also missed as he’s third on the team with 25 receptions.

              TRENDS:

              * Huskies are 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall.
              * Rockets are 1-5 ATS in their last six home games versus a team with a winning record.
              * Over is 5-1 in Huskies last six games after rushing for more than 200 yards in the previous game.
              * Under i 8-2 in the Rockets last 10 versus a team with a winning record.

              EXTRA POINTS:

              1. The Rockets are 25-5 in MAC play over the past four years with three losses coming against Northern Illinois.

              2. The Huskies have won 14 consecutive road games, the longest active streak in the FBS after Oregon's 19-game streak ended Nov. 7 against Stanford.

              3. Northern Illinois CB Sean Evans, who started the first four games before suffering a knee injury, is expected to return against Toledo.

Beyond the BCS: Big profits from NCAAF small conferences

Team to watch: East Carolina Pirates (8-2 SU, 5-5 ATS)

This week: -6.5 at North Carolina State

East Carolina has to be feeling good about itself at 8-2, which includes a current four-game winning streak in which it is beating opponents by an average of 36.25 points. It has to be feeling even better about getting to play North Carolina State Saturday.

The Wolfpack are 3-7 and one loss to Maryland away from their first winless ACC season since 1959. Don’t be fooled by N.C. State’s decent-looking pass defense (209.7 yards per game), which is going up against the strength of East Carolina (341.2 yards per game). The team is often getting blown out by halftime, at which point opponents resort to keeping the ball on the ground.

Quarterback Brandon Mitchell missed his sixth game of the season in last week’s loss to Boston College and the Wolfpack used three different signal-callers in his absence. Defensive tackle A.J. Ferguson is also questionable for NCSU with an undisclosed injury.

Team to beware: San Diego State Aztecs (6-4 SU, 5-5 ATS)

This week: +7 vs. Boise State

San Diego State has won three in a row but it has won those games by an average of 5.3 points, despite playing two of the three worst teams in the Mountain West Conference in Hawaii and New Mexico. Starting safety Gabe Lemon is likely still out with a neck stinger. Defensive tackle Sam Meredith returned last week from missing two games with a torn right labrum, but he is far from 100 percent.

Boise State is faring just fine without quarterback Joe Southwick, who suffered a broken ankle on Oct. 19. In his first two games, replacement Grant Hedrick threw one touchdown and two interceptions. In his last two, however, he tossed eight scores compared to only one pick in wins over Colorado State and Wyoming.

Total team: Wyoming Cowboys (4-6 SU, 5-5 O/U)

                    This week: 62 vs. Hawaii

After allowing 23 points or fewer in three of its first four games, Wyoming has given up at least 31 points in each of its last six, including at least 48 points in four straight contests. The Cowboys moved from a 4-3 defensive scheme to a 3-4 and they rarely bring more than the minimum number of pass rushers while basically refusing to play press coverage on wide receivers at the line of scrimmage.

They are facing Hawaii running back Joey Iosefa, who has 72 carries for 341 yards and two touchdowns in his past two outings. The good news is that Hawaii’s run defense (201.4 ypg) is almost as bad as Wyoming’s (236.3). Wyoming is averaging 196 rushing yards per game. This has shootout written all over it.

                      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rutgers Scarlet Knights at Central Florida Knights (-17.5, 57.5)

Central Florida looks to follow up a remarkable road victory and stay unbeaten in the American Athletic Conference when it hosts Rutgers on Thursday. The No. 20 Knights' remarkable run through the league slate continued Saturday with perhaps the game of the weekend in college football as standout quarterback Blake Bortles led his team to 10 points in the final 1:06 to steal a 39-36 victory at Temple. Late drama is nothing new to Central Florida, which has won five games by seven points or less, four during its five-game winning streak.

While the Knights may eventually eye a conference crown and an automatic BCS berth, the Scarlet Knights still have plenty to play for as well. They remain one win shy of bowl eligibility for the eighth time in nine years. Rutgers also had a three-point win against Temple before it suffered a 52-17 loss to Cincinnati on Saturday, its third setback in four games.

                      TV: 7:30 p.m. ET, ESPN.
LINE: Central Florida opened as low as 16.5 and jumped to 17.5. The total is set at 57.5 points.
WEATHER: Temperatures in mid 70s with a 27 percent chance of rain early on. Winds blowing NNE at 6 mph.

ABOUT RUTGERS (5-4, 2-3 AAC): Although it has a shot at gaining that bowl eligibility, a once-promising season has taken a bad turn for the Scarlet Knights, whose 1-3 slide has coincided with an allegation by a former player of bullying by a coach and an embarrassing home loss to the Bearcats. Gary Nova's touchdown pass late in the first quarter Rutgers cut Cincinnati's lead to 10-7, but the Bearcats responded with six straight touchdowns. Nova threw two interceptions and has nine picks against five touchdowns in the last four games.

ABOUT CENTRAL FLORIDA (8-1, 5-0): Many who had not heard of Bortles prior to the Temple game are now well aware of his exploits. In the comeback win over the Owls, the junior threw for a career-high 404 yards, leading Central Florida to 657 total yards, the most the program has amassed in a game since it joined the FBS ranks in 1996. Bortles ranks seventh in FBS in passer efficiency (168.6).

                      TRENDS:

                      * Scarlet Knights are 4-1 ATS in their last five Thursday games.
                      * Knights are 5-1 ATS in their last six home games.
                      * Under is 11-5 in Scarlet Knights last 16 road games.

                      Rice Owls at Alabama-Birmingham Blazers (+19, 63.5)

Rice looks to keep its chances at the Conference USA West Division title alive Thursday night as it visits Alabama-Birmingham. The Owls fell to division co-leader North Texas two weeks ago but bounced back in its previous game, rolling past Louisiana Tech 52-14 on the strength of Charles Ross' conference record-tying five rushing touchdowns. The Blazers have dropped four straight games and have surrendered a whopping 119 points in their last two defeats.

The Owls have built much of their success on a potent running game - and after struggling to gain much real estate in the loss to the Mean Green, they atoned with a sensational performance against the Bulldogs. Ross racked up 215 of Rice's 415 rushing yards, and the Owls finished with six scores on the ground to improve to 5-1 in conference play. UAB has been feasted on all season, allowing more than 42 points per game.

                      TV: 7:30 p.m. ET, Fox Sports 1
LINE: UAB is installed as a 19-point dog after being as low as +20. The over/under is set at 63 1/2.
WEATHER: Temperatures will be in the mid-50s under partly cloudy skies. Wind will blow northwest across the width of the field at 6 mph.

ABOUT RICE (7-3, 5-1 Conference USA): Ross has been the centerpiece of one of the best rushing attacks in the country, surpassing the 1,000-yard plateau for the season last time out while leading the conference with 11 rushing scores. Quarterback Taylor McHargue has had an up-and-down season to date, throwing for 1,751 yards with 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He has also run for 359 yards, but had just one in the victory over Louisiana Tech.

ABOUT UAB (2-8, 1-5): Austin Brown and Jonathan Perry have formed a competent quarterback tandem for the Blazers, combining to throw for nearly 2,100 yards with 16 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Perry threw for a season-best 210 yards in last week's loss to East Carolina but was picked off twice - one of which was returned by Kyle Tudor for a 50-yard touchdown. Darrin Reaves (827 yards, nine TDs) and Jordan Howard (826 yards, two TDs) pace the run attack.

                      TRENDS:

                      * Owls are 5-0 ATS in their last five games vs. teams with losing records.
                      * Blazers are 1-7 ATS in their last eight conference games.
                      * Over is 7-0 in UAB's last seven games vs. teams with winning records.

UNLV Rebels at Air Force Falcons (-1, 61)

The UNLV Rebels look to get their season back on track as they visit Colorado for a showdown with the Air Force Falcons. The Rebels have lost three of their last four games - including back-to-back home defeats to San Jose State and Utah State - to spoil what had been a solid start to the year. The Falcons have struggled all season long but have been better of late, defeating Army at home before dropping a 45-37 shootout against host New Mexico.

The Rebels may be in for a struggle Thursday as they bring a shaky run defense into Falcon Stadium. UNLV ranks eighth in the 12-team Mountain West Conference in rushing yards allowed per game (234.5) while surrendering 22 touchdowns on the ground and 5 1/2 yards per carry. If Air Force has done one thing well this season, it's running the ball - the Falcons are second in the conference and 11th in the FBS in rushing yards per game at 277.

LINE: Air Force is listed as a one-point fave, down slightly from a 1 1/2-point open. The over/under has held at 61.
WEATHER: Snow is in the forecast at Falcon Stadium with temperatures in the mid-teens and wind blowing across the length of the field at 13 mph.

ABOUT UNLV (5-3, 3-3 Mountain West): Thursday's X-factor could be Rebels senior quarterback Caleb Herring, who will look to solve a Falcons pass defense that ranks fourth in the conference in yards against per game. Herring has thrown for more than 250 yards in three straight games, with seven touchdowns and just three interceptions over that span. His performance could ultimately determine whether feature back Tim Cornett (970 yards, 11 TDs) has room to run.

ABOUT AIR FORCE (2-8, 0-6): Solving the Falcons' offense isn't difficult - Air Force has run the ball an unfathomable 538 times so far in 2013, while attempting just 141 passes. But stopping the Falcons' ground attack is a much harder task; they're averaging better than five yards per carry with 26 rushing touchdowns spread out among nine different players. Eighteen different Falcons have at least one carry, led by Anthony LaCoste with 111 for 781 yards and six scores.

                      TRENDS

                      * Rebels are 8-3-2 ATS in their last 13 games following a SU loss
                      * Falcons are 2-7 ATS in their last nine conference games.
                      * Over is 6-1 in the last seven meetings.

Navy at San Jose State: What bettors need to know
                            ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Navy Midshipmen at San Jose State Spartans (-2, 59)

The quick-strike offensive attack the San Jose State Spartans used to build a four-game winning streak earlier this season has abandoned them recently. They'll look to get back on track Friday night as they host the Navy Midshipmen in their second-last game of the regular season. San Jose State looked overmatched in a 38-16 loss to the Nevada Wolf Pack last time out, while the Midshipmen used their nationally renowned rush attack to subdue South Alabama 42-14.

The Spartans had little trouble moving the ball through the air against the Wolf Pack, as quarterback David Fales racked up 326 yards and a score. But the rushing game managed just 58 total yards on the ground as San Jose State fell to 0-2 since stringing together four consecutive victories. Navy had no such trouble with its ball-carrying juggernaut against the Jaguars, finishing with 351 rushing yards and four touchdowns in the one-sided win.

                            TV: 9:30 p.m. ET, ESPN2
LINE: San Jose State enters as a 2-point fave, with the total set at 59.
WEATHER: Temperatures will be in the low-50s with wind blowing diagonally across the field at 6 mph.

ABOUT NAVY (6-4): The name on the front of the jersey may be synonymous with the sea, but the Midshipmen are one of the most dangerous teams in the country when it comes to ground-and-pound. Navy ranks sixth in the FBS at 308.9 rushing yards per contest, led by sophomore quarterback Keenan Reynolds (884 rushing yards, 19 TDs). He has had at least one passing and rushing touchdown in five consecutive games, and 26 combined scores on the season.

ABOUT SAN JOSE STATE (5-5): The Spartans averaged 39 points per game during its mid-season winning streak, thanks in large part to Fales. The senior QB has a whopping 3,202 passing yards on the season - second to Fresno State's Derek Carr atop the Mountain West Conference - and his 22 passing TDs are also second to Carr. Jarrod Lawson leads San Jose State with 646 yards, but the team has just seven combined touchdowns on the ground.

                            TRENDS:

                            * Midshipmen are 16-5 ATS in their last 21 games vs. Mountain West opponents.
                            * Spartans are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 November games.
                            * Under is 14-3 in Navy's last 17 games on fieldturf.
                            * Over is 4-0 in San Jose State's last four home games vs. teams with losing road records.

The Citadel Bulldogs at Clemson Tigers (-40.5, 69.5)

Tajh Boyd’s services might not be required long but the Clemson quarterback plans to play when the No. 6 Tigers host The Citadel on Saturday. Boyd left the Nov. 14 victory over Georgia Tech with a collarbone injury and the senior who is three touchdown passes shy of 100 has pronounced himself fit to play in the final home game of his standout career. The FCS Bulldogs have won three straight games and last beat Clemson in 1931.

The Bulldogs run the ball a lot in their triple-option attack and average 282.1 on the ground with quarterback Ben Dupree (939 yards, 18 touchdowns) and running back Darien Robinson (921 and seven) closing in on 1,000-yard seasons. The passing game is virtually non-existent at an average of 91.4 yards and nobody on the roster has even 200 receiving yards.

LINE: Clemson comes in as a 40.5-point favorite, with the total at 69.5.
WEATHER: Temperatures will be in the mid-60s with a 47 percent chance of rain.

                              TRENDS:

                              * Bulldogs are 2-3 on the road.
                              * Over is 7-3 in Tigers' last 10 games.
                              * Clemson is 5-5 ATS.

Michigan State Spartans at Northwestern Wildcats (+7, 41.5)

Michigan State's Aaron Burbridge is healthy but it appears he’ll have to earn his way back into the rotation of what has become a deep group of wide receivers. Burbridge was on the preseason Biletnikoff Award watch list but got off to a slow start and then a hamstring injury Oct. 19 put him on the shelf the last three games. Wide receivers Bennie Fowler and Tony Lippett have stepped up their production and contributed to the winning streak.

A closer look at the six-game losing streak shows that the Wildcats have dropped two contests in overtime and two others by three points. They still have a shot at becoming bowl eligible for a seventh straight season, but need to start with a mistake-free game against the Spartans. Northwestern has been pretty good at taking advantage of opponents’ mistakes, leading the Big Ten in forcing turnovers (22).

LINE: The Spartans opened -7.5, but the line has been bet down a half-point. The total has held at 41.5.
WEATHER: Temperatures will be in the high-20s with wind blowing diagonally out of the NW at 19 mph.

                              TRENDS:

                              * Spartans are 6-1 ATS in their last seven conference games.
                              * Wildcats are 1-7 ATS in their last eight games.
                              * Road team is 11-1 ATS in the last 12 meetings.

Oklahoma Sooners at Kansas State Wildcats (-5, 54)

Oklahoma quarterback Trevor Knight was solid in relief of Bell (undisclosed injury) last week while sophomore Kendal Thompson saw his first action late in the 48-10 win against Iowa State. Knight, who started the first two games of the season, had 123 rushing yards in the win. The Sooners are second in the Big 12 with 236.4 rushing yards and are ranked No. 13 nationally in total defense, allowing 326.5 yards.

The Wildcats are averaging 39.5 points and are plus-6 in turnovers during their win streak. Quarterbacks Jake Waters (111-of-183 for 1,690 yards, 10 touchdowns and six interceptions) and Daniel Sams (team-high 784 rushing yards and 11 TDs) have both appeared in all 10 games. Kansas State will likely be without senior safety Ty Zimmerman (ankle), who missed the last two games last season with a similar injury.
LINE: The Wildcats are 5-point faves after opening as low as -3. The total has dropped a half-point to 54.
WEATHER: Temperatures will be in the high-20s with sunny skies and wind blowing across the length of the field at 12 mph.

                              TRENDS:

                              * Sooners are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games following a SU win.
                              * Wildcats are 5-1 ATS in their last six games.
                              * Over is 5-1 in Oklahoma's last six November games.

Memphis Tigers at Louisville Cardinals (-23.5, 43)

Among a handful of standout defenders for coach Justin Fuente is cornerback Bobby McCain, who had three interceptions against South Florida to tie a school record and set the AAC mark. Junior defensive lineman Martin Ifedi added a pair of sacks and needs just two more to tie the team's all-time career mark of 21. The Tigers' six losses have come by an average of 8.5 points.

Mentioned in Heisman Award conversations earlier in the year, quarterback Teddy Bridgewater's season has plateaued a bit. He has just one touchdown and one interception in his last two games, during which the junior has averaged 245.5 passing yards, and had his string of 21 straight games with a touchdown pass snapped in the win over Houston.

LINE: Louisville opened as a 24.5-point favorite, but the line has dropped by one. The total is currently 43.
WEATHER: Temperatures will be in the mid-40s with wind blowing diagonally out of the NW at 13 mph.

                              TRENDS:

                              * Tigers are 9-1-2 ATS in their last 12 November games.
                              * Cardinals are 0-5 ATS in their last five games following a SU win.
                              * Under is 7-2 in Memphis' last nine games.

Coastal Carolina Chanticleers at South Carolina Gamecocks (-34.5, 70)

The Chanticleers average 45.5 points and 512.5 yards and have committed just nine turnovers (six interceptions, three fumbles). Lorenzo Taliaferro is one of the top backs at the FCS level and has rushed for 1,466 yards and 23 touchdowns, while quarterback Alex Ross has thrown for 2,282 yards and 17 touchdowns. Defensively, Coastal Carolina allows 25.5 points and 417.1 yards and is led by linebacker Quinn Backus (108 tackles, three interceptions).

Shon Carson was terrific with a career-best 102 rushing yards against Florida last Saturday and is averaging 4.6 yards on 47 carries. Quarterback Connor Shaw has 19 TD passes against just one interception. Defensive end Kelcy Quarles has posted a team-best seven sacks while the more heralded Jadeveon Clowney has just two sacks and 8.5 tackles for losses after receiving preseason hype as the rare defensive Heisman Trophy candidate.

LINE: South Carolina is a 34.5-point fave with the total set at 70.
WEATHER: Rain is in the forecast with temperatures in the high-60s.

                              TRENDS:

                              * Chanticleers are 4-1 on the road.
                              * Gamecocks are 4-6 ATS.
                              * Over is 4-2 in South Carolina's last six games.

Chattanooga Mocs at Alabama Crimson Tide (-49, 52.5)

Quarterback Jacob Huesman is a multipurpose threat, passing for 16 touchdowns against five interceptions and adding 894 rushing yards and nine scores. Keon Williams (687 yards) hopes to return from a three-game absence due to an ankle injury to further spruce up a ground game that averages 223.3 yards. The Moccasins have two standout defenders in linebacker Wes Dothard (81 tackles) and defensive end Davis Tull (nine sacks).

Quarterback AJ McCarron threw two of his five interceptions in the contest against Mississippi State but has mostly performed well with 2,228 yards and 21 touchdown passes. T.J. Yeldon rushed for a career-high 160 yards to raise his season output to 1,022 but also coughed up a fumble against the Bulldogs while Kenyan Drake (584 yards, 7.6 average) continues to be a strong complement. The Crimson Tide lead the nation in scoring defense (10.2).

LINE: The Crimson Tide are 49-point faves, with a total of 52.5 listed at some books.
WEATHER: There is a 39 percent chance of showers and wind blowing across the length of the field at 11 mph.

                              TRENDS:

                              * Mocs are 3-2 on the road.
                              * Crimson Tide are 6-4 ATS.
                              * Under is 1-3-1 in Alabama's last five games.

Idaho Vandals at Florida State Seminoles (-57, 68)

Receiver Dezmon Epps has been the bright spot of another dreary season for the Vandals. The junior has 66 receptions for 811 yards and is coming off a big performance against Old Dominion in which he accumulated a career-high 175 yards on nine receptions. Idaho is often outmatched defensively – allowing 45.7 points and 531.5 yards per game – but the unit has received solid play from defensive tackle QuayShawne Buckley, who has 12 tackles for loss.

The Seminoles are led by Winston but the defense has also been excellent, ranking third nationally in scoring defense (11.1) and fourth in total defense (271.4). Outside linebacker Telvin Smith has a team-leading 68 tackles and has recorded 7.5 stops for losses and cornerback Lamarcus Joyner has 51 tackles, five sacks, three forced fumbles and an interception.

LINE: The Seminoles are a whopping 57-point favorite after opening at -56. The total has dropped from 69.5 to 68.
WEATHER: There's a 22 percent chance of rain with wind blowing across the length of the field at 7 mph.

                              TRENDS:

                              * Vandals are 5-17 ATS in their last 22 non-conference games.
                              * Seminoles are 8-1 ATS in their last nine games on grass.
                              * Over is 8-0 in Florida State's last eight games following an ATS win.

Indiana Hoosiers at Ohio State Buckeyes (-34.5, 81)

The Hoosiers need to win their final two games against Ohio State and Purdue to become bowl eligible. Indiana, which has scored a school single-season record 52 touchdowns, had scored 28-or-more points in 10 straight games before the streak came to a halt last week at chilly and rainy Wisconsin. Sophomore QB Nate Sudfeld has thrown for 2,281 yards and a Big Ten-best 19 touchdowns.

The Buckeyes lead the Big Ten and rank fourth nationally in rushing with an average of 315.1 yards and are coming off a season-best 441 yards on the ground in a 60-35 victory at Illinois last week. Senior RB Carlos Hyde has rushed for 821 yards and 11 touchdowns over the last five games and needs 53 more yards to hit the 1,000-yard mark for the season.

LINE: After opening as low as -31, the Buckeyes have been bet up to a 34.5-point fave. The total is set at 81.
WEATHER: Temperatures will be in the high-30s with wind blowing across the width of the field at 13 mph.

                              TRENDS:

                              * Hoosiers are 1-5 ATS in their last six November games.
                              * Buckeyes are 10-2-1 ATS in their last 13 games following a SU win.
                              * Favorite is 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings.

Oregon Ducks at Arizona Wildcats (+20.5, 67.5)

Oregon's top six rushers on the season are all averaging at least 6.5 yards per carry and are led by Byron Marshall, who has 152 rushes for 991 yards and 14 scores. Quarterback Marcus Mariota could find his way to the Heisman Trophy ceremony next month, as his ratio of 25 touchdowns to zero interceptions is pretty eye-catching, not to mention his 477 rushing yards and nine scores.

The Wildcats have had a streaky year, winning their first three games followed by a two-game losing streak, a three-game winning streak and now another two-game skid. In addition to standout back Ka'Deem Carey, Arizona also can run the ball with quarterback B.J. Denker, whose 709 rushing yards are a Wildcats single-season record. On the defensive side of the ball, linebacker Scooby Wright leads the team with 70 tackles.

LINE: Oregon opened as a 17.5-point fave, but the line has since been bet up to 20.5. The total is up a half-point to 67.5.
WEATHER: Temperatures will be in the high-50s with a 70 percent chance of showers or thunderstorms.

                              TRENDS:

                              * Ducks are 10-1 ATS in their last 11 games on grass.
                              * Wildcats are 5-16 ATS in their last 21 November games.
                              * Over is 4-1 in the last five meetings.

Wisconsin Badgers at Minnesota Golden Gophers (+16.5, 50)

To say that the Badgers ground game is clicking right now would be a woeful understatement. Three individual rushers topped 100 yards and the team amassed 554 yards on the ground - the second-highest total in team history - in the rout of the Hoosiers. The tandem of Melvin Gordon (1,306 yards) and James White (1,156) gives Wisconsin the status as the only FBS team with multiple players over the 1,000-yard mark.

The Gophers also have utilized the ground game for recent success, climbing to 20th in FBS play in rushing yards per game at 218.5 (Wisconsin is sixth at 307.9). David Cobb's emergence has been the catalyst, as the unheralded running back has recorded four straight 100-yard rushing efforts and has 405 total yards in his last two contests.

LINE: Wisconsin is a 16.5-point fave after opening at -14.5. The total is steady at 50.
WEATHER: Temperatures will be in the mid-teens with sunny skies and wind blowing diagonally out of the NW at 7 mph.

                              TRENDS:

                              * Badgers are 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 games.
                              * Gophers are 12-3 ATS in their last 15 November games.
                              * Under is 4-0-1 in Minnesota's last five games following a bye week.

Texas A&M Aggies at LSU Tigers (-4.5, 71)

The Aggies' offense has been unstoppable, topping 40 points in 13 consecutive games and going over 500 total yards in nine straight. The catalyst, of course, is reigning Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel, who leads the nation in completion percentage (73), ranks second in total offense (3,924) and ranks third in passer efficiency (186.86).

The Tigers are far more balanced than the Aggies, if not nearly as explosive. Quarterback Zach Mettenberger (2,733 passing yards, 20 TDs) is nursing a sore ankle but is expected to play and needs 93 passing yards to pass Matt Mauck for third on LSU's single-season list. The defense had its share of struggles early in the season but has rounded into form - especially against the pass - and allows just 14.6 points per game at home.

LINE: LSU is installed as a 4.5-point fave, down from -4. The total is set at 71.
WEATHER: Persistent rain is expected with wind blowing across the length of the field at 12 mph.

                              TRENDS:
