I have seen the darker side of Veteran’s Lives after they have returned home. A previous job of mine was helping the VA ensure Veteran Homeless shelters were billing them correctly. During one of my visits to one of these homeless shelters, the donated clothes arrived and the homeless veterans swarmed the pile as it was the highlight of their day. It made me stop in my tracks and realize how fortunate I have been in my life and that some of these veterans were my age (mid 20s) and owned absolutely nothing and pretty much had no personal belongings. This is just something to keep in mind about the fine men & women that have served our country.
