    Tuesday's Tip Sheet

    November 4, 2013

    **Ohio at Buffalo**

-- The lead in the MAC East will be on the line Tuesday night when Buffalo (6-2 straight up, 6-2 against the spread) plays host to Ohio. The Bulls are 4-0 in league play, while the Bobcats and Bowling Green are both one game back in the East with 3-1 conference records.

-- As of Monday afternoon, most betting shops had Buffalo favored by 3 ½ or four points. A few offshore books had the total at 54. 5Dimes had the Bobcats available on the money line for a +145 return (risk $100 to win $145).

-- In his fourth season at the helm, Jeff Quinn has his best team. Buffalo won just nine combined game in the three previous years, but it is in the midst of a six-game winning streak after losing its first two games on the road against top-10 teams Ohio St. (40-20) and Baylor (70-13). The Bulls have covered the spread in five consecutive victories that have each come by margins of 20 points or more.

-- Buffalo blasted Kent St. by a 41-21 count in its last outing on Oct. 26, easily taking the cash as a three-point road ‘chalk.’ Brandon Oliver was the catalyst with 184 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 31 carries. Sophomore quarterback Joe Licata threw for 285 yards and a pair of TDs without committing a turnover.

-- Ohio (6-2 SU, 5-3 ATS) won four straight games both SU and ATS after getting smashed 49-7 at Louisville in its season opener. The Bobcats’ winning streak was snapped in a 26-23 home loss to Central Michigan on Oct. 12, but they have won back-to-back games since then.

-- Ohio is led by senior QB Tyler Tettleton, who has completed 68.0 percent of his passes for 2,029 yards with a 17/6 touchdown-to-interception ratio through eight games. Senior RB Beau Blankenship has rushed for a team-high 550 yards and four TDs.

-- Licata and Oliver are enjoying outstanding seasons for Buffalo. Licata has connected on 60.2 percent of his throws for 1,569 yards with a 14/4 TD-INT ratio. Oliver has rushed for 874 yards and nine TDs while averaging 4.9 yards per carry.

-- Ohio owns a 13-15-1 spread record in 29 games as a road underdog during Frank Solich’s nine-year tenure.

-- Buffalo is 5-7 ATS as a home favorite on Quinn’s watch.

-- The ‘over’ is 6-2 overall for Buffalo, 3-1 in its home games. The Bulls’ games have played to an average combined score of 53.9 points per game.

-- The ‘under’ is 6-2 overall for Ohio, 2-1 in its three previous road assignments. The Bobcats have seen their games average a combined score of 55.4 PPG.

-- The ‘over’ has cashed in five consecutive head-to-head meetings between these schools and seven of the last eight.

-- Kickoff is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. Eastern on ESPN2.

    **B.E.’s Bonus Nuggets**

-- Gamblers have a pair of MAC games to wager on Tuesday night. Bowling Green is favored by 23 ½ at Miami (OH.) in an ESPNU broadcast at 8:00 p.m. Eastern. As noted above, the Falcons can pull into a first-place tie in the division with a win and a Buffalo loss. The RedHawks will be without starting QB Austin Boucher (7/8 TD-INT ratio) due to a knee injury.

-- Bowling Green has seen the ‘under’ cash in six straight games.

-- Wisconsin is the nation’s best ATS team with a 7-0-1 spread record.

-- Miami RB Duke Johnson broke is ankle in Saturday’s loss at FSU and will miss the rest of the season. Johnson rushed for a team-high 920 yards and six TD in 2013.

-- Wake Forest senior WR Michael Campanaro has played his last game for the Demon Deacons. Campanaro suffered a broken collarbone in a 13-0 loss at Syracuse. He had 67 receptions for 803 yards and six TDs as a senior. Campanaro finishes his career at Wake Forest’s as the third-leading receiver in school history, behind only Ricky Proehl and Desmond Clark.

-- The ‘under’ is 8-1 overall for Wake Forest.

-- ULM’s Kolton Browning and Boise St.’s Grant Hedrick both threw five TD passes apiece without an interception and had a rushing score in leading their respective teams to wins both SU and ATS in Week 10.

-- The race for national Coach of the Year at this point has got to be between Auburn’s Gus Malzahn and Missouri’s Gary Pinkel.

-- Florida has beaten Vanderbilt in 22 consecutive head-to-head meetings. The Gators haven’t had a losing season since going 0-10-1 in 1979. They are 4-4 with four games remaining, including a pair of contests (at South Carolina and vs. FSU) in which they’ll be underdogs. In fact. Sportsbook.ag is currently showing the Gamecocks as nine-point favorites vs. UF, while FSU is a 19-point ‘chalk.’ UF hasn’t been a double-digit home underdog to FSU since 1993.

Maybe that was fixed overnight, too, Bum. I've got 16 posts in today's trends thread and everything seems to be working fine. It shouldn't be too much longer before there's something else to post. We'll see if it keeps it up.
