    Armadillo: Monday's six-pack

Teams witb best record in regular season OT games. in NFL history........

    1) Washington Redskins 23-14-1, .632

    2) Denver Broncos 25-15-2, .619

    3) Buffalo Bills, 19-12, .609

    4) Arizona Cardinals 23-16-2, .588

    5) Pittsburgh Steelers 21-15-2, .581

    6) Cincinnati Bengals 15-11-1, .574

Armadillo: Monday's List of 13: Wrapping up a sports weekend........

    13) Some writer complained Sunday night that Jason Dufner "is boring and bad television." He's a golfer, not a damn court jester. His job is to make as much money as he can, not to entertain the masses.

His even demeanor was what helped him win $1,445,000 this week; not too bad for a boring guy.

    12) Eldrick Woods has played eight PGA rounds at Oak Hill and is +16, with no sub-par rounds. In his other 56 PGA rounds, he is a combined -63.

    11) Between 2:00-2:45 Sunday, before Furyk/Dufner teed off, CBS was like an all-commerical channel, showing more ads than golf shots.

    10) FOX paid an enormous amount of money to land US Open golf starting in 2015; they've asked Greg Norman to be their #1 analyst.

    9) Realized tonight that DirecTV doesn't have a deal with FOX Sports1, so much like the Pac-12 Network, I won't be seeing that this weekend either.

I've got a lot of soccer channels and other channels I don't give a rat's ass about; the other channels I want, at least let me pay to get them.

    8) Golfer named Jeff Overton is only American player to make a Ryder Cup team without winning a PGA tournament. Just thought you should know.

    7) Diamondbacks' OF Cody Ross dislocated his hip while running out a ground ball Sunday; strange non-contact injury, but he just collapsed and was in severe pain. Have never seen anything like that before.

    6) Somehow, Ike Davis has reached base in 24 of his last 32 ABs; one thing he has done is stop chasing bad pitches. Teams are still trying to get him to go fishing but now he is drawing walks- his batting average is even over .200 now (.205).

Mets have lot of 1B/DH types on their team, but not lot of OFs; 3B Flores has nine RBI in his first six big league games.

    5) I'm concerned the Marlins are so dysfunctional that they're ruining Giancarlo Stanton's career; he's hitting only .238, because they've put so many stiffs around him in the batting orrder, it is stupid to give him any pitches to hit. Hopefully he'll get exiled from Miami soon.

    4) Oakland A's won a game Sunday they had no business winning; pitchers walked 11 Blue Jays, infielders made two errors in first inning, but Balfour survived a rocky ninth inning and Oakland escaped with an ugly 6-4 win.

Teams that walk more batters than they strike out win a little less than 20% of the time, so if you walk 11, strike out 6 and win, you dodged a bullet.

    3) 6-foot-8 rookie umpire Baker had a rough day behind the plate in Toronto, calling knuckleballer Dickey's pitches half the time; Baker seems to call the curve ball a strike more often than fastballs, not sure why that is.

    2) Andy Pettitte allowed a first inning run for the 8th consecutive game, and threw 100+ pitches in less than five innings. Not good.

    1) Diamondbacks have a backup catcher named Tuffy Gosewitch; that is a tremendous name.

                  ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MLB betting: Texas moves to 6-0 after Cruz suspension
                  ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It has been a week since the suspensions stemming from the Florida biogenesis case in Major League Baseball were handed down.

Though it wasn't an overly star-studded list, the list included a few everyday players. Namely Nelson Cruz of the Texas Rangers.

Cruz was batting .269 with 27 homers and 76 RBI in a productive season before accepting the suspension from the league.

Following a 6-1 victory over the Houston Astros Sunday, the Rangers are a blistering 6-0 in life post-Nelson Cruz.

Any $100 bettor would be up $412.35 if they had wagered in each of the Rangers six ball games without their suspended slugger.

The Rangers will look to keep the streak rolling as they finish up their four-game set with the Astros Monday.

At the time of writing, the Rangers are -210 road favorites. Yu Darvish takes the mound for Texas.

NFL AFC North division preview: Books selling Ravens short?

The defending Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens aren’t getting any respect in the AFC North, with only the Cleveland Browns behind them on the division futures board.

Are the Ravens out of the picture with veterans like Ray Lewis and Ed Reed gone or are oddsmakers selling Baltimore short this season?

                      Baltimore Ravens (2012: 10-6 SU, 6-9-1 ATS)

                      Odds to win division: +300
                      Season win total: 8.5

Why to bet the Ravens: The defending Super Bowl champs are still a Top-10 team in my power ratings, despite losing a lot from last year. The Ravens have a terrific coaching staff and a solid QB in Joe Flacco, and they play three of their four toughest games on their strong home field where they are 16-2 SU over the last two seasons.

Why not to bet the Ravens: We’re not projecting a Super Bowl repeat in 2013. Baltimore broke the bank to sign QB Joe Flacco to a long-term deal. The decision to open the vault for Flacco will set the Ravens back a few years because they couldn’t afford to keep or sign other key contributors.

Season win total pick: Under 8.5

                      Cincinnati Bengals (2012: 10-6 SU, 9-6-1 ATS)

                      Odds to win division: +190
                      Season win total: 8.5

Why to bet the Bengals: Cincinnati made the playoffs last year for the second consecutive season. It was just the fourth time in the past 21 years. Cincinnati has a highlight reel offense with QB Andy Dalton throwing to WR A.J. Green. The Bengals have a stout defense that improved immensely under coordinator Mike Zimmer. The stop unit will be scary good if they improve further this year.

Why not to bet the Bengals: They are feeling good off back-to-back post-season appearances, but they are walking a fine line between wins and losses. They’ve played extremely easy schedules over the last two seasons, but this year they will face five teams out of their division ranked higher in my power ratings. It will be extremely important for the Bengals to win the majority of their divisional games if they want a playoffs three-peat.

Season win total pick: Under 8.5

                      Cleveland Browns (2012: 5-11 SU, 8-7-1 ATS)

                      Odds to win division: +600
                      Season win total: 6

Why to bet the Browns: Another season of change for the Cleveland Browns in 2013. Michael Lombardi takes over as the VP of player personnel and he felt it would be best to overhaul the coaching staff and change schemes to ignite the organization. The new head coach is Rob Chudzinski and his offensive coordinator is Norv Turner, who is a veteran play caller in the NFL. The changes will pay dividends for the Browns.

Why not to bet the Browns: Cleveland has ranked No. 24 or worse in points scored for five straight years and in nine of the last 10 years overall. The new defensive coordinator is Ray Horton, who has his work cut out for him as the Browns allowed 24 points or more in half of their games last season.

Season win total pick: Over 6

                      Pittsburgh Steelers (2012: 8-8 SU, 6-9-1 ATS)

                      Odds to win division: +170
                      Season win total: 9

Why to bet the Steelers: Pittsburgh failed to make the playoffs last season despite having the No. 1 overall defense. They won less than nine games for the first time since 2006 and it was just the third time since 1999. Last year was a fluke for Pittsburgh and it should bounce back with a strong season in 2013.

Why not to bet the Steelers: Pittsburgh’s roster is in a state of flux and their veterans are getting old and injury prone. They just don’t have the depth to survive if they miss significant time like last season. Luckily for the Steelers they are in the right division considering their issues, even though they aren’t what they once were.

Season win total pick: Over 9
