  • Picks For U.S. Open

After spending literally 4 hours trying to figure this out, I narrowed down about 25 guys to 7. Since 7 is my lucky number I figured it was a good number to go with this week.

I hit the Masters Winner so i'm going for 2 in a row here.

These are my 6 guys who just "Missed the Cut". For one reason or another I simply had to leave them out. Hopefully it doesn't come back to bite me in the ass. I like them all BUT I only wanted to go with 7 guys.

Webb Simpson - No repeat Champion at the U.S. Open in over 20 years (1989). For that, he is out.

Brandt Snedeker - He is taking injections in his stomach for major rib issues. It scares me enough to leave him out.

Bubba Watson - Has shown nothing in previous Open's and I mean nothing. Out.

Tim Clark - I think this course could set up nicely for him but he has been horrible in 5 of his last 6 Open's. Out.

Zach Johnson - In 9 Open's he has 4 missed cuts and finishes of 48th, 45th, 77th, 30th and 41st. Not enough to sell me. Out.

Dustin Johnson - I like him and he has an 8th at the 2010 Open but he also has a missed cut and a 48th, 40th and 23rd in 4 others. I'll pass. Out.

Now on to my choices (Risking $100) .......

Tiger Woods - $30 to Win $135 ($65 If Win Profit)
Safety net here. I'm very disturbed with how he played last time out. Yes many guys had bad rounds but Tiger's weekend was one of his worst performances of all time. Still, I can't leave him out.

Graeme McDowell - $15 to Win $330 ($245 If Win Profit)
McDowell has been really good this year and his game looks like it matches up very well with the course here. He also has a 1st and a 2nd in the last 3 Open's so his game is built for them.

Matt Kuchar - $15 to Win $300 ($215 If Win Profit)
Matt has had a GREAT year and he is primed for his 1st Major Victory. He has 3 Top 10 finishes in his last 5 Majors entered. Is this the weekend he gets it done?

Adam Scott - $12 to Win $300 ($212 If Win Profit)
I am a big fan of Scott and he is a great pressure player and a great player in recent Majors. He has finished in the Top 15 in each of his last 6 Majors entered and he has finished 8th or better in 4 of them. He should be in the hunt!

Lee Westwood - $10 to Win $270 ($180 If Win Profit)
My boy Lee. He loves these Majors and he ALWAYS shows up for them. This is another guy primed to Win a Major. Since 2009 he has entered 16 Majors and he has 9 Top 10 finishes and 6 of those were Top 5. Enough said!

Phil Mickelson - $12 to Win $240 ($152 If Win Profit)
Not playing well but just a hunch here with Phil on a course short enough to play right in to his hands if he hits his irons well.

Jim Furyk - $6 to Win $270 ($176 If Win Profit)
Furyk has been a historically great player at the Open. He finished 4th last year and he has 6 Top 5 finishes in U.S. Open play. The short course should also help him this weekend.

    GOOD LUCK

Every guy you either dropped or picked was on my radar except Bubba. It's going to be a fun 4 days for sure. Good luck

Take a look at Kevin Chappell. He is +8050. He had a shot at winning the Memorial and has had a couple decent finishes in last 2 Opens. Lately the Open has produced unexpected winners and this guy fits the bill.

I saw about 30 Kevin chappell's in the field raven but when I narrowed it down to 7 guys, I prefer the ones who have shown repeatedly that they can handle the pressure of a major and put up a good score in it. Playing well in the Memorial and doing it in a Major is just a different game IMO.

I took Furyk & Z. Johnson. Two longer shots that could win. Also took them to finish in top 5.
              Best of Luck Everyone
