Some very early statistical leaders in baseball........

-- Batting Average: Chris Davis, Balt .556, Adam Jones, Balt .522.

    -- RBI: Davis 17, John Buck, NYM 9, Fielder, Det/Frazier, Cin 8.

    -- Runs: Jones 8, Crisp/JUpton/Choo/AJackson, all with 7.

    -- Total Bases: Davis 25, JUpton 23, Frazier 22.

    -- Pitches/PA: Rios CWS 5.05, Hosmer KC 4.89, Butler KC 4.88.

    -- Pitching K's: Burnett Pitt 19, Kershaw LAD 16, Darvish Tex 14.

Armadillo: Sunday's List of 13: Wrapping up a sports Saturday.......

    13) Louisville is either a 3.5 or 4-point favorite Monday night, depending on where you get your lines; should be noted that favorites are 10-3 against the spread in last 13 national championship games.

    12) Since 1998, #1 seeds are 5-1 vs spread in national title games when facing a lower seed, winning all six games; last #1 to lose a final to a lower seed was when 4-seed Arizona upset Kentucky in '97 as a 6.5-point underdog.

    11) Louisville 72, Wichita 68-- This game swung when Tim Henderson, a walk-on, hit a pair of 3's with 13:01, 12:22 left, cutting a 47-35 Wichita St. lead in half. Gorgui Dieng played 30 minutes, took one shot, didn't score.

    10) Michigan 61, Syracuse 56-- Hardaway/Burke combined to go 5-24 from floor, Wolverines left door open for Syracuse in last minute, but scored the last four points to advance. This game was little disappointing. Syracuse got very little from Southerland (2-9 from floor).

    9) My cousin KL Wheat is holding a ticket on Michigan to win the whole thing at 18-1, so good luck to him with that Monday night. Have to find out when he bought that ticket, because Wolverines were 6-6 in their last twelve games going into the NCAAs.

    8) Michigan sub Josh Bartlestein never plays for the Wolverines; his dad is player agent Mark Bartlestein, who has lot of prominent clients, one of whom is two-time NFL MVP Kurt Warner.

    7) Red Sox pitcher John Lackey hurt his arm in his first start since 2011, as Toronto beat the Red Sox 5-0. Lackey threw 76 pitches in 4.1 innings.

    6) BJ Upton hit a game-tying homer in ninth inning, then his brother Justin hit a walk-off shot in same inning, as Atlanta beat the Cubs 6-5.

    5) Phillies had three hits all night, but scored three runs in ninth inning off KC closer Greg Holland stunned the Royals 4-3.

    4) A's have lost their last nine season openers, but at least this year they are having a good first week, raising their record to 4-2 with a 6-3 win over the Astros in Houston. Oakland is first team this year to use six starting pitchers, as Bartolo Colon was activated in time to pitch Saturday's game.

    3) Mets' catcher John Buck is second in big leagues with nine RBI.

    2) Can a player from the 29-47 Wizards be NBA MVP this year? John Wall had 37 points as Washington beat the Pacers by 19- they're 22-17 at home, and over .500 overall since Wall got healthy.

    1) Underrated franchise; the Denver Nuggets are 35-3 at home this year.

NASCAR betting: STP Gas Booster 500

The Sprint Cup Series shifts to Martinsville, Va. for the STP Gas Booster 500 at Martinsville Speedway this Sunday.

Thirty of the last 32 races held at the smallest track (.526 miles) have featured a double-digit number of caution flags.

Hendrick Motorsports teammates Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson lead all active drivers with seven victories each at Martinsville.

      Favorite: Jimmie Johnson (+500)

Johnson has seven wins, tying Dover (Del.) International Speedway for his career-best total at a single track on the circuit. A win Sunday would make him the winningest active driver at the half-mile oval. Johnson holds the series’ best driver rating for the track and has finished outside the top-10 only three times in 22 races.

Live dog: Dale Earnhardt Jr. (+1,200)

Earnhardt has never visited Victory Lane at Martinsville in 26 attempts, but Virginia is one of his best tracks statistically. He has led more laps at Martinsville (868) than at any other track and his 14 top-10 finishes there ranks second only to Daytona, where he's posted 15 top 10s.

      Long shot: Ryan Newman (+2,500)

Ryan Newman won last year's spring race at Martinsville. After a slow start, Newman has posted a seventh-place finish at Bristol and 10th at Fontana. Newman has one win, seven top 5s and 11 top 10s in 22 races at Martinsville.

Key stat: No active driver has scored his or her first Cup win at Martinsville. Also, the race winner at Martinsville has started from the pole 20 times, the most productive starting position of any track.

      Notable quotable:

"I remember the first several races I ran there (Martinsville), I ran into everything. I ran into other race cars, walls, pace cars, just about everything that could be ran into, I found it." Dale Earnhardt Jr. on his early history at Martinsville.

      Jimmie Johnson 4/1
      Brad Keselowski 6/1
      Kyle Busch 6/1

                  ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sunday Night Baseball: Angels at Rangers
                  ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Los Angeles Angels at Texas Rangers (-144, 8.5)

It's an AL West showdown on Sunday Night Baseball as the Rangers host the Angels.

                  Yu Better Believe It

Yu Darvish makes his second start of the season as he tries to top the one-hitter he threw against the Astros this past Tuesday. Darvish was magnificent against Houston although performances like that will probably be the norm against the Astros’ weak-hitting lineup. Now he takes a step-up in class against the Angels whom he faced six times last season. Darvish allowed 19 runs in those six games with 48 strikeouts. The righty actually had more struggles against Los Angeles at home where he had one of his worst starts of the season back on August 1. Darvish allowed seven runs on four hits and six walks in just five innings in that game which turned into an 11-10 victory.

                  Dream Weaver

Jered Weaver got a no-decision in his last start despite giving up only a single run and two hits in six innings at Cincinnati on Monday. His problem was the first three innings where he threw 63 pitches which was the reason why he couldn't go deep into the game. Weaver is not the biggest fan of pitching in Arlington, posting a 6.48 ERA in his three starts there last year. Most of that damage came in one outing back on May 13 when he allowed eight runs and 10 hits in just over three innings. He beat the Rangers on September 28 in Arlington after yielding only two runs and five hits in seven innings.

                  Injury Report

The injury reports for these two teams are relatively clean. The Angels are without Ryan Madson who is recovering from Tommy John surgery. He'll be big for their bullpen when he returns. Texas has a few key names that aren't available right no, including pitchers Colby Lewis, Joakim Soria, and Neftali Feliz who is expected to be out until early August due to ligament transplant surgery. The former Royals' closer, Soria, hopes to be back by late May after undergoing his own Tommy John surgery. Finally, Lewis also had elbow surgery and hopes to be back by late May.

                  Trends

Angels are 20-6 in Weaver's last 26 starts vs. a team with a winning record
Under is 35-17-3 in Weaver's last 55 starts vs. a team with a winning record

Rangers are 11-4 in Darvish's last 15 home starts
Over is 5-2 in Darvish's last seven home starts

                  Hitters to Watch

                  Mike Trout 6-for-17 vs. Darvish
                  Albert Pujols 4-for-17 vs. Darvish

                  Elvis Andrus 23-for-60 vs. Weaver
                  Adrian Beltre 13-for-65 vs. Weaver

Lakers at Clippers: What bettors need to know
                          ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Los Angeles Lakers at Los Angeles Clippers (-5, 203)

The Los Angeles Clippers attempt to finish off a four-game season sweep of the Los Angeles Lakers as well as clinch the Pacific Division title when the teams square off at the Staples Center on Sunday afternoon. The Clippers will sew up their first division crown with either their next victory or Golden State’s next loss. The Lakers are a half-game ahead of the Utah Jazz for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

The Lakers have won three consecutive games after edging the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday. Utah holds the tiebreaker edge so Los Angeles has to win one more game than the Jazz to claim the postseason berth. The Clippers had lost four of five games before posting a 126-101 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday. They are battling Denver and Memphis for the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference and also trying to regain their earlier form that saw him rattle off 17 consecutive wins. “We’re going to have to up our level of play here at the end of the season and there’s a responsibility that goes with that for everybody,” Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro said.

                          TV:
                          3:30 p.m. ET, ABC

                          ABOUT THE LAKERS (40-36):
The fear of missing the playoffs has fueled a solid late-season run that has seen Los Angeles go 23-11 since being eight games under .500 in late January. Guard Kobe Bryant has challenged his teammates with both his play and his words and the supporting class received the messages. “These are must-win games and I don’t want to go home,” forward Earl Clark said after the Memphis victory. “I want to make the playoffs. I don’t want to be on the Laker team that didn’t make it to the playoffs. I don’t want to be remembered that way.” Clark is averaging 15 points and 8.5 rebounds over the last two games.

                          ABOUT THE CLIPPERS (50-26):
Forward Blake Griffin has been battling a calf injury that has hindered his production. Griffin is averaging just 13.4 points and 6.3 rebounds over the past eight games and collected just 13 total rebounds in the last three outings. Griffin has just one double-digit outing on the boards in 12 games. “Blake’s had a softball in his calf for seven games or eight games or whatever it is,” Del Negro said. “He’s been battling through that.” The Clippers last played Wednesday and Griffin was given plenty of rest in the three-day span with no games.

                          TRENDS:

                          * Lakers are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games.
                          * Over is 6-1 in Clippers’ last seven overall.
                          * Over is 8-0 in the last eight meetings.
                          * Favorite is 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings.

                          BUZZER BEATERS

                          1. The Clippers routed the Lakers 125-101 on Feb. 14 after winning the first two meetings by a combined 15 points.

                          2. Clippers PG Chris Paul is averaging 24 points and 13.7 assists in the three wins over the Lakers.

                          3. Bryant has missed all 15 of his 3-point attempts over the past four games.
