          ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Flyers at Bruins: What bettors need to know
          ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Philadelphia Flyers at Boston Bruins (-175, 5.5)

After thwarting a potential three-game winless streak with a victory in their last outing, the Boston Bruins will look to prevent the visiting Philadelphia Flyers from doing the same at their own expense on Saturday afternoon. Tyler Seguin collected two goals and an assist as Boston posted a 4-2 triumph over Original Six rival Toronto on Thursday. Seguin torched the Flyers last season with three goals and as many assists as the Bruins won three of four meetings.

Philadelphia saw its three-goal lead evaporate on Thursday en route to a 5-4 loss to Keystone State rival Pittsburgh. The Flyers struggled to reach the NHL's version of .500 by winning five of seven, only to lose their last two contests to a pair of Atlantic Division foes. The road hasn't been kind for coach Peter Laviolette's club, which is just 4-9-0 away from the City of Brotherly Love.

          TV:
1 p.m. ET, NHL Network, NHL Network-Canada, CSN (Philadelphia), NESN (Boston)

          ABOUT THE FLYERS (11-13-1):
Ilya Bryzgalov has been a workhorse this season for Philadelphia, but the Russian netminder made an early exit against the Penguins. Bryzgalov, who has started 23 of 25 games this season, has fared well in Beantown - posting a 3-0-2 record with a 1.96 goals-against average in regular-season tilts. Jakub Voracek has fueled the Flyers with nine goals and as many assists in his last nine contests. Voracek, who has just three points in seven career games versus Boston, leads Philadelphia with 12 goals and shares top honors in assists (17) with captain Claude Giroux.

          ABOUT THE BRUINS (15-3-3):
Boston's schedule picks up on Saturday as coach Claude Julien's club begins a stretch of six games in nine days. A key contest against Northeast Division rival Ottawa is slated for Monday, while the first of two games versus Eastern Conference power Pittsburgh also is in the stretch. Anton Khudobin turned aside 25 shots against Toronto, but Tuukka Rask is slated to draw the start on Saturday. The Finn hasn't faced the Flyers since the Bruins completed an epic postseason collapse with a Game 7 loss in the second round of the 2010 Stanley Cup playoffs.

          TRENDS:

          * Flyers are 5-1 in their last six Saturday games.
          * Over is 4-1 in Flyers’ last five road games.
          * Flyers are 1-9 in the last 10 meetings.
          * Under is 4-1 in Bruins’ last five Saturday games.

          OVERTIME:

          1. Philadelphia RW Wayne Simmonds has yet to score a goal in nine career regular-season games versus Boston.

          2. The Bruins recalled RW Jordan Caron from Providence of the American Hockey League on Friday. Caron practiced on the third line with C Rich Peverley and
          LW Chris Kelly.

          3. Three of the teams' four meetings in 2011-12 were decided by just one goal. The other was a 6-0 rout by Boston on Dec. 17, 2011.

Around the rink: Saturday's NHL betting notes
                        ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Philadelphia Flyers at Boston Bruins (-175, 5.5)

Probable starting goaltenders: Ilya Bryzgalov (PHI), Tuukka Rask (BOS)

Philadelphia is 1-9 in the last 10 meetings.

Washington Capitals at New York Islanders (-105, 5.5)

Probable starting goaltenders: Philipp Grubauer (WSH), Evgeni Nabokov (NYI)

The Washington Capitals have climbed back into the Southeast Division race with three straight wins. The Capitals have won five of their last six games and captain Alex Ovechkin has 10 points in that span. New York is wrapping up a seven-game homestand on a more positive note than it began. New York is wrapping up a seven-game homestand on a more positive note than it began. The Islanders lost the first two games in regulation but have earned points in the last four. The over is 7-0-1 in the Islanders’ last eight vs. Southeast foes.

Detroit Red Wings at Columbus Blue Jackets (+133, 5.5)

Probable starting goaltenders: Jonas Gustavsson (DET), Sergei Bobrovsky (CBJ)

After collecting 11 of a possible 14 points over their last seven games (5-1-1), the Detroit Red Wings look to continue their surge when they visit the Columbus. Detroit, which will host its Central Division rival on Sunday, has won just one of three meetings with Columbus this season. Detroit has embraced defensive hockey - and the results have been favorable. The Red Wings have yielded just eight goals over their last seven contests. The Blue Jackets have won a season-best three in a row while recording points in five consecutive contests (3-0-2). Columbus has played nine consecutive games which have been decided by one goal. The under is 5-0 in the Red Wings’ last five overall.

St. Louis Blues at San Jose Sharks (-127, 5)

Probable starting goaltenders: Jake Allen (STL), Antti Niemi (SJ)

The San Jose Sharks look to rebound from their first regulation loss in five games when they host the St. Louis. San Jose saw its four-game point streak (3-0-1) come to an end Wednesday, when it dropped a 4-1 decision to the Flames in Calgary on Wednesday. The Sharks have scored fewer than three goals in each of their last 12 games and 16 of 17. Including the playoffs, the Blues have won eight of the last 10 meetings with the Sharks and four straight in San Jose.

Pittsburgh Penguins at Toronto Maple Leafs (+125, 6)

Probable starting goaltenders: Marc-Andre Fleury (PIT), James Reimer (TOR)

The Pittsburgh Penguins visit the Maple Leafs riding a three-game winning streak, but the Maple Leafs are coming off a hard-fought loss in Boston and haven’t dropped consecutive games since the beginning of February. Toronto defeated Pittsburgh 5-2 in the third game of the season for both teams, with James van Riemsdyk scoring twice to lead the Maple Leafs. The over is 6-0-1 in the Maple Leafs’ last seven overall.

New Jersey Devils at Carolina Hurricanes (-117, 5.5)

Probable starting goaltenders: Johan Hedberg (NJ), Dan Ellis (CAR)

Two days after staging a late rally against Buffalo that helped end their five-game winless streak (0-5-1), the Devils try to make it two wins in a row when they visit the Southeast Division-leading Carolina Hurricanes. Carolina is coming off a 4-2 home loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday that ended its four-game winning streak. The Hurricanes posted a 4-2 triumph in New Jersey on Feb. 12 and the over is 5-1 in Carolina’s last six home games.

Montreal Canadiens at Tampa Bay Lightning (-104, 5.5)

Probable starting goaltenders: Carey Price (MTL), Cedrick Desjardins (TB)

The Canadiens blew a three-goal lead in the final six minutes of regulation but regrouped to defeat the Lightning in a shootout on Feb. 12. That victory halted a three-game winless streak and ignited a stretch during which Montreal has gone 9-1-3 as it prepares for a rematch with Tampa Bay on Saturday night in the fourth stop on a five-game road swing. Tampa Bay has lost six of its last seven games and three straight at home. The once-potent Lightning offense, which entered the weekend second in the league with 82 goals, has been limited to one tally three times in the last six games. The Habs are 7-0 in their last seven vs. Southeast opposition.

Minnesota Wild at Nashville Predators (-128, 5)

Probable starting goaltenders: Niklas Backstrom (MIN), Pekka Rinne (NSH)

Minnesota has won just three times in 11 road contests this season (3-7-1), but it will receive a boost on Friday. Right wing Cal Clutterbuck, who had missed six games with a thigh contusion, expects to be in the lineup against the Predators. Nashville entered Friday's tilt averaging a meager 1.96 goals per contest before erupting for six tallies versus Edmonton. The Wild are 0-5 in the last five meetings in Nashville.

Dallas Stars at Phoenix Coyotes (-121, 5.5)

Probable starting goaltenders: Kari Lehtonen (DAL), Mike Smith (PHX)

The Dallas Stars and Phoenix Coyotes wrap up their four-game season series Saturday. The Stars posted a 4-3 home triumph in the season opener for both teams and posted a 4-3 shootout victory in Dallas on Feb. 1. Phoenix completed the home-and-home series with a 2-0 win the following night as Mike Smith registered the first of his three shutouts this season. Dallas will attempt to extend its winning streak to three games after posting victories over the St. Louis Blues on Sunday and the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday. The Stars improved to 6-1-1 in their last eight road games with the win over the Kings. The home team is 5-0 in the last five meetings.

Calgary Flames at Los Angeles Kings (-181, 5)

Probable starting goaltenders: Miikka Kiprusoff (CGY), Jonathan Quick (LAK)

Los Angeles suffered a 5-2 loss to the Dallas Stars on Thursday, ending its six-game home winning streak. The Kings had earned at least one point in eight consecutive contests at the Staples Center (7-0-1) following a loss to the Chicago Blackhawks in their home opener. The Flames were blanked by the Ducks on Friday after scoring four goals in each of their previous three contests. The road team has won each of the last five games in the all-time series, with the host scoring a total of three goals.

                          ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Brooklyn Nets at Atlanta Hawks (-3, 188)

Deron Williams seeks an encore performance when his Nets visit the Hawks on Saturday. Williams put on the best shooting display in the NBA this season on Friday with 11 3-pointers in 16 attempts in the Nets' 95-78 victory over Washington. Nine of the 3s came in the first half, a new NBA record, and the 10th set a team record. The Hawks have lost four of their last five after winning four in a row. Atlanta is 5-0 ATS in its last five games following an ATS loss.

Utah Jazz at New York Knicks (-10.5, 196.5)

The Jazz suffered a gut-wrenching 89-88 loss at Chicago on Friday and have lost three straight and six of seven as they cling to the No. 8 spot in the Western Conference. The Knicks have split their past four games since a three-game winning streak and remain in third place in the Eastern Conference standings. New York could be without star forward Carmelo Anthony for a third straight game because of a right knee injury. The Jazz are 0-7 ATS in their last seven trips to New York.

Charlotte Bobcats at Washington Wizards (-11, 188.5)

The Charlotte Bobcats look to avoid their second double-digit losing streak of the season when they visit Washington. The Bobcats have lost nine straight, the last eight by an astounding average of 24 points. Losers of four of their last five, the Wizards fell victim to a hot-shooting Deron Williams in a 95-78 loss at Brooklyn on Friday. The offensively challenged club has been held under 100 points in six straight games. The Wizards are 6-0 in their last six Saturday games while the Bobcats are 0-5 ATS in their last five Saturday tilts.

New Orleans Hornets at Memphis Grizzlies (-10.5, 179.5)

The surging Grizzlies are 11-1 in their last 12 games - the one loss coming at Miami - and have won three straight despite the absence of leading scorer and rebounder Zach Randolph to an ankle injury. The status of Randolph remains murky for Memphis. New Orleans suffered a particularly galling setback in Wednesday's 108-102 home defeat to the Los Angeles Lakers. The Hornets led by as many as 25 points and were ahead by 14 in the fourth quarter before the Lakers closed the game on a stunning 20-0 run. The Hornets won in Memphis 91-83 on Jan. 27 and have played over the total in eight of their last nine games overall.

Minnesota Timberwolves at Denver Nuggets (-15, 209.5)

The Denver Nuggets are riding a seven-game winning streak and have been nearly invincible at the Pepsi Center, where they have ripped off 12 consecutive victories and own a stellar 27-3 record. The Timberwolves have won two of the three matchups this season against the Nuggets, also squeezing out a three-point win at home on Dec. 12. Denver has failed to score 100 points only once in the last 22 games and the over is 5-1 in the last six meetings.

Houston Rockets at Phoenix Suns (+6.5, 209.5)

Phoenix, which fell into a last-place tie in the West with its 121-112 loss at Sacramento on Friday, has lost two straight following a surprising three-game winning streak. The Suns are playing with a depleted frontcourt while center Jermaine O’Neal attends to his ailing 13-year-old daughter. O’Neal is expected to return next week, but center Marcin Gortat is out for the rest of the season after suffering a foot injury against Toronto on Wednesday. Houston has lost nine of its last 12 meetings with the Suns and is 1-5 ATS in its last six games versus a team with a losing record.

Milwaukee Bucks at Golden State Warriors (-2.5, 211)

Golden State leads Houston by one game for the sixth spot in the Western Conference playoff race, while Milwaukee appears to be locked into the eighth position in the East. The Warriors received a scare Friday when All-Star forward David Lee exited the game in the first half with a bruised knee, but he was able to return and finished with 16 points. The Bucks have won six of the last seven games against Golden State, including two straight.
