In my opinion, the six best quarterbacks in the NFL.......

6) Eli Manning, Giants-- Others are higher on him than I am.

5) Ben Roethlisberger, Steelers-- Needs to get shoulder cleaned up.

4) Aaron Rodgers, Packers-- No scholarship offers out of high school?

3) Drew Brees, Saints-- Most people wouldn't have him this high.

2) Peyton Manning, Broncos-- He's also the offensive coordinator.

1) Tom Brady, Patriots-- Has made people around him very wealthy.

Armadillo: Sunday's List of 13: Wrapping up a sports Saturday......

13) I never thought I'd turn off an NFL playoff game because Christian Ponder wasn't playing; Joe Webb got thrown into a bad situation, and the predictable 24-10 Packer win resulted. Ugly game; NFL would've been better off with the Packers winning last week and Chicago making the playoffs.

12) Read some complaints during the day that, given the poor quality of play Saturday, the last thing the NFL needs is more teams in the playoffs. Not sure I agree with that, but they were an interesting comments.

11) Cincinnati Bengals are now 0-6 in road playoff games, after a 19-13 loss in Houston; you allow one TD, you should win. You score one TD and kick four FGs and still win, then you were fortunate.

10) Marvin Lewis hasn't won a playoff game in ten years as the Bengals' coach, but before you bury him, consider that in the 11 years before Lewis became Cincinnati's coach, the Bengals were 52-124. He has done a terrific job working for a cheapskate owner.

9) Biggest college basketball upset Saturday: St John's (+13.5) 53-52 win at Cincinnati. Good win for Steve Lavin's struggling team.

8) Delaware won 84-72 at struggling Old Dominion; Blue Hens made 41-50 foul shots. Not sure I've ever seen the visiting team take 50 foul shots in a 40-minute game. ODU was 20-34 at the charity stripe.

7) There were 1,017 field goals tried in NFL's 256 regular season games, most in league history.

6) Clippers raced out to a 35-12 first quarter lead, pounded Golden State by 26, avenging a loss earlier in the week.

5) Big Ten Network needs better announcers; too much hype. Don't want lot of yelling and guys telling me how great everything is. I already have the game on; stop selling it to me, and let me watch.

4) Carolina Panthers kept Ron Rivera, which isn't surprising; once they let John Fox go, you know they like to work on the cheap, so they're not going to pay Rivera to go away. Plus, Panthers won their last four games, to finish 7-9; do they have momentum going into 2013?

3) Illinois State is 0-3 in MVC after losing at home to Northern Iowa; Pitt is 0-2 in Big East after losing at Rutgers. Couple of teams who had promising Decembers but are now very hungry for a conference win.

2) Illinois whacked Ohio State 74-55; wire-to-wire thrashing. Surprising result. Doesn't appear to be any dominant teams this year.

1) Ole Miss' win in Compass Bowl clinches a winning bowl season for the SEC; they're 5-3 with Monday's Alabama game left to play.

NHL, NHLPA reach tentative agreement

A tentative agreement has been reached between the NHL and its Players’ Association.

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and NHLPA Executive Director Donald Fehr announced early Sunday morning there is a framework in place for a new collective bargaining agreement.

A verbal agreement has been reached but the deal still has to be ratified by both sides and fine- tuned for legality. ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun is reporting a 50-game season would start Jan. 15, while a 48-game season would start Jan. 19.
