Trojans Visit Cornhuskers In Monday College Hoops Matchup

USC Trojans: A very short college basketball card on Monday finds Southern Cal (3-3 straight-up, 2-3 against the spread) on the road and hoping to stop a two-game skid in the early going. The Trojans fell 66-60 at home to San Diego State eight days ago, and shooting woes can be blamed for the setback as small 2-point home dogs. The game followed a tough trip to Hawaii for the Maui invitational where they lost two of three, and SC could be towing a four-game losing streak if not for a rather ugly 59-53 overtime victory vs. Texas. Southern Cal is shooting just over 40 percent as a team, and the primary culprits are guards JT Terrell and Jio Fontan, who have combined to convert just 35 of their 128 field goal attempts (27.3 percent). Three of the Trojans' four games this season have gone "over" the total despite the poor offensive showing.
Nebraska Cornhuskers: Coach Tim Miles brings the 'Huskers (5-1 SU, 3-2 ATS) home off a solid upset at Wake Forest last week. Nebraska was getting five from the oddsmakers in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge and posted a 79-63 triumph behind 20-point efforts from both Andre Almeida and Ray Gallegos. Almeida also grabbed 11 boards for his first double-double of the campaign. Senior guard Dylan Talley leads the Cornhuskers in scoring (15.8 points per game) and is second in rebounding (6.5 rebounds per game) while sharing the assist lead (3.0 assists per game) with freshman Benny Parker. Southern Cal has a slight 5-4 lead in this series, which dates back to the early 1960s, but Nebraska has won each meeting the last three seasons, including a 64-61 double-overtime victory in LA last year as a 2-point underdog. The last two games for the Cornhuskers have skipped above the same 128-point total, but the last time the Trojans came to Lincoln, the final failed to reach a 121½-point mark.
