  • Why Texas Tech?

    1. Texas Tech has 5 losses this season: NC State, Missouri, Ok. St., Oklahoma and Texas. All 5 of these teams would beat Navy by 20 plus.

    2. Navy is SLOW, SLOW, SLOW and it will be obvious very early!

    3. Navy beat absolutely NOBODY! They lost to TCU, Rutgers, Notre Dame and Delaware. Texas Tech would have been undefeated and crying about not playing for the national championship if they had this schedule.

    4. Navy is NOT that much improved this year, but their schedule is! They were 2 and whatever last year because they played decent competition!

Texas Tech will cover this game in the first half, if not the first quarter!

    Careful

I agree with you on all accounts but Navy can run, run, run.........using the most difficult rushing attack to stop. They have talent in the secondary and if they can control the clock look out. Navy hasn't seen an offense like Tech before but Tech hasn't seen an offense like Navy before. GL!

yes Navy can run, but so could I at 30 plus years old against the local JV high school team. It's all about speed and level of competition. How good would Navy be if they played the TT schedule? Could Navy beat Texas A&M or even Baylor?

Tony Vegas has a great pt ....

Even Great defvs have a hard time adjusting to trying to
stop the wishbone .... I learned that the expensive way
one way when Ohio State was playing AF in a Bowl Game

I would be cautious investing Money on Tech ...

Yeah you probably could run against a JV squad but that is my point exactly........Tech's defense is no better than a JV squad. I am very skeptical laying that many points with a team that couldn't stop a local high school. If Navy can run like I think they can on Tech they will control the clock and could very well keep it close. Plus Symons is known to make mistakes and Navy's secondary is not that bad. I can see Tech blowing out Navy but I highly doubt that is going to happen! GL!

Certainly the OVER is the safer of the two bets. Over the last 3 games Navy has averaged 40+ points and we all know what Tech can do to the scoreboard. The difference in this game will in fact be the ability for Navy to establish a ground game. That can EASILY be done against Tech and the 9 year-olds that play as their defensive front 4. Surprisingly, I can see Tech putting 6-8 guys in the box trying to stop one of the best rushing games in the NCAA and getting beat with a taste of their own medicine. I still think Navy gets 300+ yards on the ground and even a couple TD's through the air. As long as the run game goes well for Navy, BJ Symons will be on the sidelines watching.

            good luck either way...

              Under

I would tend to lean towards the under only b/c I don't think Navy is going to score quickly. I see them having long drives if they do score lasting like 6-8 minutes. I tend to always take the over when it is at 70 but this is a place where I will play the under. I am going Navy and under but only small. GL!

Navy is the play because they will run all day against a porous Texas Tech defense. They will slow down the game and control the clock. And Texas Tech will get impatient and make mistakes, just like they always do. Symons will force throws and Navy is okay against the pass. Tech gave up 352 yards rushing to Oklahoma St and 469 vs. Missouri. I expect more of the same today. Navy is pumped up to be here and are much more disciplined being a service academy. I will take Navy +12 and expect to see a very close game. I also am looking for the under to hit as I agree Navy will run huge chunks of clock while scoring. I would look for a total of 58-65 points to be scored here.

I think im going to play the under (73.5) big.. I went to the Texans game on Sunday and the field was not in very good shape.. The Texans and Colts were slipping the entire game and there were hardly any big pass plays.. I think Navy will run alot of the clock - their only chance for winning is to keep Techs offense on the sideline.. I still cannot see this being a 10 TD game unless both teams were big passers.. I think this game will be closer than expected..

If this game was being played on artificial - Im pretty sure that I would go with Tech -12.. But the grass should slow the game a little more..

being a Navy vet, don't put too much credence into the whole service academy thing.....those guys are hardcore partiers....discipline can be deceiving when it's in uniform!!
