I don't know if any of you have followed the Arena Football League debacle but it has been something right out of a comic book. Chances are, most of you have no clue about it because hearing or finding any info about the Arena League is virtually impossible these days. ESPN used to have a tiny place on their site for it and now they don't even have Arena ball or scores listed anywhere anymore. Even the Arena.com site is like a maze trying to find any info about this League or these teams. It's no wonder the League is failing because the marketing absolutely sucks ass!
The season started last friday night and right before kickoff, the players went on strike. Pittsburgh was about to play at Orlando and it was the only game that night. The players union is a mess and a joke. They only make about $400 per game. It is ridiculous considering all the practice time and everything each week to only make that little. Hell, you could make more at McDonalds but anyway. They were trying to get between $800-$1350 a week and the owners said no. The Pittsburgh owner was so pissed at his players when he got word of the strike that he went in to the hotel where they were having a team dinner before the game and he read a statement telling them they were all fired.
They swore the game would go on and the teams said they would play with replacement players and anybody who wanted to cross the union line. They were literally dressing everybody and anybody who wanted to play. The game started a few minutes late with a bunch of guys nobody ever heard of. Of couse neither team had any chemistry and the game was a mess to start. Midway through the game, about 15-20 Pittsburgh players crossed the line and ran out of the locker room to play and of course, they went on to kick Orlando's ass by 14 points. The whole thing was a joke and a mess.
The Pittsburgh owner has said a couple players (Who he thought were leading the charge) would never play for them. One was a very good QB that they just signed this season. He is now looking for work and i'm sure he will find it. The owner even told the guys who didn't cross the line to basically find their own way back to Pittsburgh because they were not going with the team. That literally left guys stranded in Orlando.
Saturday afternoon and before the games Saturday night, they all decided to go back to work while they try to figure things out. The owners offered $500 a week but i'm not sure what will happen from here. All players are back and now playing but the whole League looks totally foolish right now and if any of you have followed this, you already know it is like a soap opera.
With things back to normal, it's time to cap these games again. I'm kinda pissed because this spread was 5 all morning and it is steadily dropping. I still think the wrong team is favored here, hence the ML wager too!
Arena Football
5* Cleveland +3.5 (7:30 PM)
5* Cleveland (ML) +135 (7:30 PM)
NBA
5* Detroit +6.5 (9:10 PM)
GOOD LUCK
