Wednesday’s betting tips: Chemistry killing Mississippi State

    Who’s hot

NBA: Orlando has covered in 10 of its last 14 road games and is 6-2 ATS in its last eight vs. Washington.

NBA: New York is 8-2 against the spread in its last 10 home games.

NHL: Pittsburgh has won six of its last seven games against Dallas.

NHL: St. Louis is 9-3 in its last 12 overall.

NCAAB: Temple has covered in nine of its last 12 and in six of its last seven home games.

NCAAB: Louisville has covered in seven straight games against South Florida.

    Who’s not

NBA: Dallas is 3-7 against the spread in its last 10 meetings with Memphis.

NBA: The over is 2-7-1 in the last 10 matchups between the Lakers and Timberwolves.

NHL: Toronto has lost four straight and six consecutive games against Chicago.

NHL: Buffalo is 3-14 in its last 17 road games.

NCAAB: San Diego State is 2-6 against the spread in its last eight.

NCAAB: UNLV is 0-7 against the spread in its last seven road games.

    Key stat

56.7 – The Marquette Golden Eagles shot 56.7 percent from the floor in their 95-78 blowout of Cincinnati on Feb. 11. It was the club’s best shooting performance in its last 47 games in league play. The two teams meet again Wednesday.

    Injury that shouldn’t be overlooked

Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles Lakers – Bryant suffered a broken nose during last weekend’s All-Star game when Dwyane Wade hit him with a hard foul, and had an appointment with an ear, nose, and throat specialist Tuesday. There were some reports later Tuesday evening that he had suffered a concussion and was listed as day-to-day. The Lakers are set as 7.5-point favorites when they host Minnesota Wednesday.

    Game of the day

Chicago Bulls at San Antonio Spurs (-2, 190.5)

    Notable quotable

"Things have definitely been down the wrong path lately and we let it get too deep. It shouldn't have (gone) this far. A five-game losing streak is unheard of at any level in basketball, especially when you have all this talent… "I see how they come up here and say how bad they want to win and how bad they want to go to the Final Four, but everybody doesn't work as hard as they say, with as bad as they want to win" – Mississippi State Bulldogs junior forward Arnett Moultrie called out his teammates ahead of Wednesday’s game against South Carolina. The team has been rumored to be struggling with in-fighting and chemistry issues both on and off the court during its recent skid and is in danger of an NIT appearance after ranking as high as No. 15 last month.

    Notes and tips

It’s still uncertain whether Auburn guards Varez Ward and/or Chris Denson will play Wednesday against Alabama. Both were suspended before Saturday’s game against Arkansas for violating team rules. Ward puts up 9.0 points and 3.8 assists and 3.1 rebounds per game, while Denson averages 8.5 points per game. The Tigers are set as 13.5-point underdogs.

Dallas Mavericks forward Lamar Odom is expected to miss two more games as he tends to a family matter, coach Rick Carlisle told ESPN Dallas on Tuesday. Odom will miss Tuesday's contest versus the New Jersey Nets and Wednesday's tilt at the Memphis Grizzlies. "Lamar is going to not be with us these two games and then we'll update everybody Thursday as to where we're at," Carlisle said. "But he's got a tough situation he's going through. We're very supportive as a franchise and we'll let you know Thursday where we are." The NBA's reigning Sixth Man of the Year, Odom is struggling in his first season with the Mavericks. He is averaging 7.7 points and 4.5 rebounds in 32 games.

Between a concussion, some poor stats and a struggling team, Buffalo Sabres netminder Ryan Miller hasn’t been very happy this season. Things only got worse when the club sent Miller’s good friend, Paul Gaustad, to the Nashville Predators before Monday’s trade deadline. "Personally, he’s a close friend, and also I think he’s a big part of the team,” Miller told Buffalonews.com. “No matter the way you view hockey, you have to understand how important players like Paul can be and how long it takes to develop a guy that plays that way at such a high level... Like I’ve said, we don’t make those decisions. That’s more proof because if I had any more influence Paul would still be here." The Sabres visit Anaheim as +135 underdogs Wednesday.

      Armadillo: Wednesday's six-pack

-- For the record, first two teams eliminated in March Madness were Gardner-Webb and Radford, losers in the Big South Tourney Monday.

-- Home court held in the four Horizon League tournament games, with Butler getting the first of four wins it needs to get back into NCAA's.

-- NFL moved 2012 season opener up to a Wednesday night to avoid conflict with President Obama's speech at Democratic Convention.

-- Think Brook Lopez makes a difference for the Nets? Big guy had 21 at the half, wound up with 38 as the Nets won 93-92 at Dallas.

-- Montana thrashed Weber State 66-51, clinching the regular season title in the Big Sky Conference.

-- Today is February 29; if you know someone who has a birthday, give him/her a hug- they only get a birthday once every four years.

      *****************

Armadillo: Wednesday's List of 13: Doing some thinking out loud..........

      13) My time as a student manager of the UAlbany basketball team ranks right up there with the most fun I've ever had; every day was fun, and I wasn't a player, just a student assistant. Why do I bring this up?

The more I think about Pat Knight’s rant last week against his seniors, it just makes me sad; by all accounts, Pat Knight isn’t a mean bastard like his father, but there is no way anyone connected with Lamar basketball is having fun this year, and dammit, its supposed to be at least a little fun.

I know it’s a business, and people get fired for losing, but Lamar has a winning record this year, and Knight still obviously despises several of his players. I mean, I can think of better ways of spending my college years (or adult years, for that matter) than being miserable every day.

      12) One of the odd quirks of college basketball is that teams need teams they’ve played to do well, to enhance their strength of schedule. For instance, Washington needs South Dakota State to win Summit League, since the Jackrabbits beat U-Dub by 19 in December. Harvard needs Florida State/LMU to keep winning, in case the Crimson gags away the Ivy league title, which now could happen.

A win against Pitt in November doesn’t look that good now, but back in the fall it was a big deal. And so on and so on........

      11) OK, who knew that spreading Tide detergent on asphalt made it easier to drive on? The 2-hour delay during the NASCAR race Monday was alternately bizarre/entertaining.

      10) Dave Blaney led the race during the 2-hour delay; he needed an 11pm rainstorm to end the race and give him his first win in 398 NASCAR tries, yes 398; too bad he didn’t get it. Blaney’s brother, by the way, was a basketball standout at West Virginia.

      9) Under is 49-43 in games involving NBA teams that had 2+ days off prior to the game; under is 29-24 with a rested road team, 20-19 if the home team was rested.

      8) Breaking down pointspread records of rested teams is a little more helpful: home favorites: 19-7, home underdogs: 3-8. Road favorites: 11-7, road underdogs, 15-16. That’s favorites 30-14, underdogs 18-24.

      7) At the All-Star break, NBA teams were shooting a combined 34.6% behind the arc, the league’s worst mark since they were shooting 33.8% in 1999, the last time they had a shortended season. Makes sense.

      6) The Mets desperately need a catcher with some experience in case Josh Thole isn’t the answer, or to back him up either way. Future Hall of Famer Pudge Rodriguez needs a job. This is a logical connection, right? Why hasn’t this been done?

      5) The name Scott Sizemore doesn’t mean much to you, but he tore his ACL Monday, and now the A’s don’t have a big league third baseman. I mean, Sizemore isn’t Longoria or Zimmerman, but he is competent, and now he’s out for the year. His likely replacement? Either Josh Donaldson, who was a minor league catcher until last August, or Wes Timmons, the guy we talked about earlier this week who spent the winter as a substitute teacher. Good God this could be a long summer.

      4) Ratings for the NBA All-Star Game were down 22% from last year, not sure why anyone would watch it. if players don’t take a game seriously, why should I watch?

      3) Meanwhile, the Daytona 500 did a 7.7 rating Monday night; it did an 8.2 on Sunday afternoon LY, and a 7.0 in 2010. I’d expect to see more primetime NASCAR next season.

      2) Tuesday was National Pancake Day. We need more days like that. Nothing like a stack of flapjacks smothered in maple syrup. Now I’m hungry.

      1) Free NBA Full Court package this week, as NBA/DirecTV try to sucker us in on buying the second half of the condensed (and shortened) season for $85. Ain’t happening, but we’ll enjoy watching games this week, before March Madness kicks it into full gear next week.

MLB Top 5: Last season's biggest money winners

Spring training contests start this weekend in Arizona and Florida, which means the real MLB games aren’t far away. Let’s prepare for Opening Day with a look back at last year’s true gems in Major League Baseball betting:

        Arizona Diamondbacks (95-68, $2,820)

The numbers truly were startling for this scrappy bunch, that took advantage of the overall inconsistency and malaise that plagued the National League West: Fifty-one home wins, 43 victories against the West, 731 runs, and a league-high 58 saves.

But now, comes Act Two. After losing in five games to Milwaukee in the NL Divisional Series, it’s on the Diamondbacks to prove they’re no fluke. A healthy Stephen Drew will help. The marquee shortstop, who is recovering from a dislocated ankle, is back taking infield practice and though there’s no timetable for his return, his presence might be enough of a jolt to keep this team from having an early-season hangover based on their breakout year.

        Milwaukee Brewers (96-66, $2,104)

Lost in the Ryan Braun Saga and Prince Fielder’s move to Detroit, is the fact that the Brewers had one heck of a season last year and came within two wins of making the World Series.

The fact that this team, based primarily on prospects and building from the ground up, has to watch stars walk away just shows we’re still in an era of baseball where small-market teams are at a huge disadvantage.

That said, there is still talent there and the National League Central has to be deemed winnable, what with Albert Pujols no longer in St. Louis and the Pirates, Astros and Cubs still in an “up-and-coming” mode.

Keep an eye on outfielder Jay Gibbons as one of those potential “Moneyball” offensive replacements for Fielder. He might not be what Scott Hatteberg or David Justice was to the 2002 A’s, but he does have 127 career homers, drove in 100 runs back in 2004, and he was dirt cheap.

        Detroit Tigers (95-67, $1,888)

From the team that lost Fielder to the one that gained him, the Tigers, who also came within two wins of the World Series, are in prime position to make a big run in the American League.

Fielder reported to camp a week early, ready to go, and if Austin Jackson can limit his strikeouts (170 in 2010, 181 in 2011) and set the table for the big man, there are going to be a lot of runs crossing the plate at Comerica Field.

Manager Jim Leyland has some arms, too - none more important than star starter Justin Verlander. The right hander, who just turned 29, waltzed into camp last week and told everyone that the Tigers expect a World Series ring this year. Well, they just may be good enough for that.

Keep in mind, they didn't lose much, they added Fielder, and they’re coming off a season in which they won the American League Central and defeated the Yankees in the ALDS. It's all coming together in Detroit.

        Texas Rangers (96-66, $1,275)

It’s no surprise that these five teams landed in the postseason, and that is becoming a standard for this crew deep in the heart of Texas. Making it to the World Series in two consecutive seasons, the Rangers now command respect on the field and at the window.

Bettors who made the most of their value last year should be commended for sticking it out and remaining loyal. It won’t be any easier this year in the AL West, as the Angels are much improved, and the Rangers are missing some experience in the back end of the rotation.

Keep an eye on starter Roy Oswalt, 34, who is still looking for a team. His best years came in Texas, as a member of the Astros, and the longer he’s out there, the greater the chances the Rangers make a move for him. So far, they’ve only talked with Oswalt. But stay tuned.

        Philadelphia Phillies (102-60, $1,273)

The team that let Oswalt go will be back in the thick of things in the NL East, will again be heavy favorites every night, and will win likely around 100 games - again. But their value, given their star-laden starting pitching, still won’t be great with lingering problems at the plate.

The Phillies only hit .253 as a team last season, and their 153 home runs placed them 18th in the majors in dingers. Their lack of offensive production cost them the NLDS to St. Louis, and that was with playing three of those five games in a hitter-friendly ballpark in Philadelphia.

Hunter Pence for a full season will help. But Raul Ibanez is now a Yankee, Ryan Howard will start the season on the disabled list as he recovers from an Achilles injury, and can Jim Thome truly be counted on as a reliable alternative? Be careful early on with the Phillies.

Wildcats have never been to NCAA tournament; this win would put them in.

NC State (+2.5) was 6-10 from arc, Miami 2-20 in Wolfpack's Jan 22 78-73 win at Miami, but Hurricane center Johnson is out due to NCAA-related issues, and Canes are 2-3 in last five games, 3-0-1 as road dog in ACC games, losing away games by 1-17-5-5 points (3-4 SU). WCC tournament

Portland is 1-6 in this round of CAA tournament since 2003, with last five losses in this round by 5 or less points; unfortunately, their second win over Broncos was last game they've won, dropping last six games. SE Missouri State is 1-3 in this event the last six years; they're much improved this year, going 9-7 in OVC after being 9-45 last three seasons, but they lost last four games, all by 9+ points. EKU lost six of its last seven road games- they're 4-1 vs spread in last five games as an underdog.

Jacksonville State (+9) lost 60-57 at Austin Peay Jan 14, in only game with the Governors this season; Gamecocks made OVC tourney for just second time in last six years; they lost 87-54 in last appearance, couple years ago. This is worst team Austin Peay had in 10+ years, but they've bounced back late, winning last three games, by 3-18-9 points. They're 7-2 in this round of OVC tourney last nine years. OVC home teams are 9-11-2 vs spread when number is 3 or less points.

Exposing the Top 25: Where the NCAAB polls went wrong
                ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Most overrated Top-25 team: UNLV Runnin' Rebels

Since January 14, the Runnin' Rebels are just 4-4 SU when you remove a 4-0 SU mark against Boise State and Air Force. The Rebels barely won on the road against those two teams, escaping in overtime against both.

UNLV is no road warrior. It’s 5-6 SU in true road action this season and three of the five wins came in OT against Air Force, Boise State, and UC-Santa Barbara. It’s just a handful of plays away from a 2-9 road record and a 21-9 overall record, which wouldn’t be enough to rank the Runnin’ Rebels in the Top 25.

David Rice's troops have played four tough games on the road and lost them all. Indeed, UNLV looked pretty bad in three of the losses, getting rocked by New Mexico, Wisconsin, and Wichita State by an average final score of 72-55. And remember, we are talking about a team that averages over 78 points overall.

The biggest problem with the Rebels may be coach Rice's inexperience. Rice said he wanted to return to a style that would remind people of the Runnin' Rebels of old. Unfortunately, this team plays with little patience on the offensive end, especially when they aren't in front of the home folks.

A more seasoned coach would probably be able to pull the reigns a bit when the team begins to lose its bearings. Rice was/is a quality hire but, right now, the fact he's feeling his way hurts this team away from the Thomas & Mack.

They have a chance to iron out some road issues with a game at Colorado State Wednesday, before wrapping up the regular season against Wyoming at home. UNLV has the athletes and talent to go deep into March Madness, but it lacks discipline and could get bounced from the dance early.

Most underrated Top 25 team: Louisville Cardinals

Back in December, Louisville landed in my “Most Overrated” slot on a couple of occasions. Of course, they were ranked third in the nation at the time and didn't exactly sport a deep bench. But I also stated that the Cardinals may be a "player" as the regular season nears its end.

Well, the Cards are there. They are on an 8-2 SU run since January 21 with their two losses coming by one point at home to second-ranked Syracuse and by four points on the road against a tough Cincinnati team. They're a grand total of just two made 3-pointers away from a 10-0 run.

Louisville is still going without much of a bench, but the team is well adjusted to its shortcomings and I wouldn’t be surprised if Rick Pitino finds a way to get this team deep into the Big Dance. After a home game on Wednesday, the Cardinals wrap up the regular season with a rematch at Syracuse Saturday.

Mid-Major Report: Capping the small-conference tournaments
                  ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Two mid-major teams reached the Final Four last March and, this season, the caliber of play is the best it’s been in years for small-conference basketball. Despite all this, at-large spots will be limited, placing the majority of small schools in must-win situations if they have any hope of reaching the Big Dance.

Here's a quick look at some key conference tournaments:

                  Colonial Athletic Association

                  March 2-5

                  No. 1 Seed: Drexel (25-5)

Three schools from the Colonial made the NCAA Tournament last year, with at-large VCU doing the impossible and reaching the Final Four. That won't be the case in 2012, with none of the 20-win teams (Drexel, VCU, George Mason, Georgia State) doing enough in non-conference play to justify an at-large spot. Drexel will head into the tournament on a 17-game winning streak.

                  Outside shot: Georgia State (20-10)

The Panthers went through a brutal stretch in January but they rebounded in February going 6-2, with those two losses coming in overtime. Georgia State has earned wins over Drexel and VCU.

                  Horizon League

                  Feb 28 – March 6

                  No. 1 Seed: Valparaiso (21-10)

Valparaiso and Cleveland State have had solid seasons, but it is NIT or bust if neither wins the Horizon League tournament. The Vikings did have an early-season win against Vanderbilt but their five-game losing streak in February hurt any chances they had of earning an at-large spot.

                  Outside shot: Green Bay (15-14)

Most people will be looking towards Butler and Detroit for an upset win, but Green Bay heads into tournament play with a five-game winning streak. The Phoenix have proven they can beat anyone with wins over Cleveland State, Valparaiso, and Butler.

                  Missouri Valley Conference

                  March 1 – March 4

No. 1 Seed: Wichita State (26-4)

The only way we see three teams from the MVC make the NCAA Tournament is if anyone outside of Wichita State or Creighton wins the conference crown. Both the Shockers and Bluejays are within the Top 25, making them near certainties to make the NCAA Tournament even if they come up short in the conference tournament.

                  Outside shot: Evansville (15-14)

The Purple Aces are the No. 3 seed and if they can get by Missouri State, this will set up a semifinal encounter with Creighton. Evansville seems to match up well with the Bluejays, having beaten them 65-57 at home and nearly coming up with the road upset in a 93-92 OT loss in the rematch.

                  West Coast Conference

                  Feb 29 to March 5

                  No. 1 Seed: St. Mary's

Last year, the only WCC representative was Gonzaga, despite a solid season from St. Mary's. This year, Gonzaga, St. Mary's and BYU are all worthy of earning at-large spots. It is really tough to see anyone outside of these three winning the WCC Tournament.

                  Outside shot: San Francisco (18-12)

San Francisco could be the most battle-tested team heading into the WCC tourney, having closed the regular season playing the conference’s big three. The Dons lost to BYU by one point, earned a victory against Gonzaga, and held the lead at the half with St Mary's in an eventual 67-60 loss.

                  Best of the Rest

                  Big West

Montana is the No. 3 seed but is arguably the favorite in this tournament, riding an 11-game win streak. All eyes, though, will be on No. 1 seed Weber State, which features NBA prospect Damian Lillard.

                  Metro Atlantic Athletic

Iona should be able to coast through this tournament and also have a legitimate shot at a first or second-round upset during the Big Dance. The Gaels are 24-6 and have the top-ranked offense in the country, averaging 83.4 points per game.

                  Ohio Valley Conference

Murray State's win over St. Mary's during the BracketBusters should be enough to earn the Racers an at-large spot and they avenged their only loss with a blowout win over Tennessee State to end the season. It will be interesting to see how high Murray State’s spreads climb during this tournament. Expect the Racers to be overvalued during every game.

                  Summit League

Of all the conference tournaments in the NCAA (not just mid-majors), this could be the most exciting with all teams playing an up-tempo style. Oral Roberts and South Dakota State are the favorites, but look for Oakland and even Indiana-Purdue to pull off an upset. Oakland features the NCAA's leading scorer Reggie Hamilton, who is averaging 25.5 points per game, while Indiana-Purdue has Alex Young, who is arguably the top mid-major NBA prospect.

Auburn Tigers at Alabama Crimson Tide (-13.5, 117)

The hot Crimson Tide can take another step toward securing an NCAA bid if they can knock off rival Auburn for the second time this season, and earn their 20th win in the process.

Alabama has weathered the storm that came with the suspension of the team’s two best players and has won three straight games.

JaMychal Green was back in the lineup for Saturday's 67-50 rout over Mississippi State after being suspended for four games. Green, who averages team highs of 13.9 points and 7.0 rebounds, came off the bench and scored nine points in 25 minutes.

Freshman Levi Randolph tripled his scoring average with a career-high 18 points and seven boards versus the Bulldogs. Trevor Lacey’s status remains up in the air; he started the Mississippi State game but played only 11 minutes because a badly sprained ankle.

Either way, Tide should roll here – especially if Auburn suspended guards Varez Ward and Chris Denson are held out again.

                    Pick: Crimson Tide

Iowa State Cyclones at Missouri Tigers (-10, 146)

No. 8 Missouri, coming off a pair of tough losses, hosts surging Iowa State in what has become a battle for second place in the Big 12. The Tigers squandered a 19-point second half lead at No. 4 Kansas last weekend and lost 87-86 in overtime.

Iowa State, tied with Baylor for third place, has won three in a row and six of eight. The Cyclones are coming off an impressive win at Kansas State and have pulled within a game of the Missouri in the standings.

Royce White continues to be a dominant force, being the only player in Division I to lead his team in scoring (12.8), rebounding (9.2), assists (5.1), steals (1.2) and blocked shots (1.0). Scott Christopherson has also had the hot hand over the last three games, averaging 23.7 points and shooting 74 percent (14-19) from 3-point range.

Meanwhile, the Tigers lost their first home game last week to Kansas State and have dropped two in a row for the first time.

                    Pick: Cyclones

Pick 'n' roll: Wednesday's best NBA bets
                          ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oddsmakers have yet to release a line for Wednesday's Portland-Denver matchup. Pick should be considered an early lean.

Cleveland Cavaliers at New York Knicks (-9.5, 192.5)

New York Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni has been looking forward to this week for a long time.

The Knicks weren’t allowed to practice on Monday as per league rules following the All-Star break, but they were able to put a healthy group in for a full workout Tuesday and have a few more practices scheduled later this week.

In this strike-shortened season, practices might as well be pots of gold for coaches.

“We’ve got to get some things sorted out,” D’Antoni told reporters. “We get the All-Star break [and] we’ve got four or five practices and that will help. We’ve got to figure out the identity we have to have and that will be right after the All-Star break.”

There are still a lot of questions to be answered about what the Knicks are all about. Is Jeremy Lin for real? Can Melo share the rock? Can they all stay healthy?

We’ll give them the benefit of the doubt in this one. New York has covered in eight of its last 10 home games.

                          Pick: Knicks

Portland Trail Blazers at Denver Nuggets (N/A)

Wednesday’s game against the Nuggets is a fresh start for the Trail Blazers.

They got out of the gate quickly by winning seven of their first nine games, but they have struggled to find that same consistency since then.

Portland won just four of its last 10 ahead of the break, leaving many players on the squad looking for answers last weekend.

"I truly believe that what happened at the beginning of the season was not an accident," Jamal Crawford told reporters. "It wasn't lightning in a bottle and that's it. I really believe that's who we are. We just have to find that team, find that energy again. When I first came here, I thought we were as good as any team I've been on. And I've averaged 50 wins the last two years. We just need to find that magic again."

Denver’s in a similar spot. The Nuggets covered the number in eight of their first nine, winning outright six times over that stretch before winning only one of their last six before the break.

                          Pick: Portland

                            ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pittsburgh Penguins at Dallas Stars (+115, 5.5)

Even though Steve Ott is easily one of the most hated players in the NHL, teams were lining up to put in offers for him at the trade deadline.

Dallas eventually decided to keep the pesky center and that was probably for the best. Ott provides some great depth to a Stars club that is leaning heavily on a top line of Mike Ribeiro, Michael Ryder, and Loui Eriksson. That trio has produced 40 combined points since the All-Star break.

Eriksson scored in overtime to lift the Stars to a 3-2 win over the surging Canucks on Sunday after Ott made a strong rush into the Vancouver zone. The victory was Dallas’ fourth in a row, but the club will have to get more consistent goaltending from Kari Lehtonen down the stretch.

While Lehtonen was named the league’s third star of last week, he gave up a couple of softies against Vancouver and Dallas doesn't score enough to erase bad goals like those two very often.

Nothing but a top-notch effort between the pipes will keep the Penguins from giving the red light a workout with Evgeni Malkin tearing it up.

He has nine points in his last five games and leads the league with 78 points on the year.

                            Pick: Over

St. Louis Blues at Edmonton Oilers (+125, 5.5)

It’s no surprise the St. Louis Blues stood pat at the trade deadline. They’re just starting to get healthy and went into Tuesday’s action alone in second place in the Western Conference.

"We were trying to see what type of depth we could add to our group and there wasn't a proper fit there," Blues GM Doug Armstrong told reporters. "I went in not expecting a lot of transactions, and at the end of the day, it didn't seem like we were involved in much."

The Blues have been just average on the road for most of this season, but have won the first three games of their current road trip, getting the better of Nashville, Winnipeg, and Calgary so far.

St. Louis has won five of its last six against the Oilers and should be able to get it done again on Wednesday.

                            Pick: Blues
