  • If There was Any Justice, June Jones

would be executed by being shot with pineapples...What a dumb freakin screw-up. Helped me on the over, but I just hate to see stupidity. Actually, I think Houston should've gone for the duece after the TD in the first OT...Three straight runs for 25 yds and 6...Hawaii had no chance of stopping the run. Both these coaches tried to out foul-up each other. But, what an exciting game, huh?

I'm asuming the screwup was not running the ball on third down? If that's the case, then all I can say is, if they complete that third down pass for the TD, then the game is over. Also, if they kick that 29 yard FG, the game is over also. So the Warriors had two chances to close Houston down and failed on both. There was no way a run on third down would have run out the clock. The Houston coach was quoted as saying he should have gone for the two point conversion after they scored on that 81 yard pass because they were the underdog and had the momentum. But thank you very much because the over and Houston came in instead of a split.

It helped my wallet as well, but I still disagree with you.
          a) The incomplete pass was thrown with 1:06 left on the clock...Houston w/ no TOs left. Run the ball with 1:06 and burn up ten seconds before the ball is marked ready for play. :56 left in the game....Use all the 35 second clock...Snap it on 4th down with 21 seconds to go....Run around in the backfield for 5 seconds before giving yourself up. Houston takes over with no timeouts on its own 14 with 16 seconds and no TOs left. Give 'em one...maybe two plays to stick it in the endzone. Game over...

          b) Hawaii's kicker has already missed one FG, barely made one PAT, and had another one tipped at the line.

Say what you want, and even though it made us some $$$, it was clearly a coaching blunder of major proportions.

You must understand that Jones' coaching philosophy is not of the old school variety. He says Hawaii throws the ball and that's what they do best. I was in the stands in that end zone when that third down pass was attempted. And I have to admit I was perplexed as you and the rest of the football public as to why not run the ball in that situation? That pass Chang threw was in such an area where there was no chance of a pick and if it was to be caught, the receiver was the only one that would have a chance at it. Bottom line, they complete that pass or kick that field goal and Houston is toast with 1: 02 left. A coaching blunder? To the old school way of thinking. He has taken major chances during the season, such as calling a fake punt from his own 21 yard line because the play was open. You complete it, you're a genius, you miss it and second guessing comes into play. If you watch Hawaii play over the course of a seson I'm sure you would challenge many other decisions (like I have). But he's the coach, and he does what he believes in and that's throwing the ball.

Do you think Coach Jones makes the same call if Hawaii was up by 6?

And why did he not pass on every down on the last drive?

              STUPID STUPID

but he's our coach and I want to tell him thanks for been STUPID every now and then.

              He got lucky
