  • Question, Any Answers??

WHAT IS THE AMOUNT OF WAGERS THAT VEGAS WILL TAKE??? SOMEONE TOLD ME THAT OTHER THAN THE N.F.L, YOU WOULD BE LUCKY TO GET 1K DOWN ON A GAME THERE!! ANYONE THAT HAS BEEN THERE RECENTLY, CAN YOU VERIFY THIS?? PERSONALLY, I DON'T THINK IT'S TRUE, AND I KNOW THAT IT VARIES FROM BOOK TO BOOK!!! I'M TALKING ABOUT "IN GENERAL"!

SOME REPLIES WOULD BE NICE FROM PEOPLE THAT KNOW!

I think it depends on the book.

I think Hilton takes biggies, some of the larger casinos will too I imagine..say Bilagio or Stardust or the big players.

      answer

You can bet way over $1000 at most of the name books........in fact, last time i was at bellagio, i was asking the same types of questions and they put my in touch with the manager of the race and sports book and although i was not betting anywhere near the limit, i think you could go well into 5 figures there..........same with mirage, cp, venetian, etc...........

there are owever, books that will cap your bet..........also, if you bet too much, the various books will call each other checking to see if you or someone have made the same wagers there

i hope that hepled a little

I JUST DIDN'T SEE HOW THAT INFO. COULD OR WOULD BE CORRECT!! I JUST DON'T SEE HOW VEGAS WOULD SAY NO TO A 10K WAGER ON A GAME!! I ALWAYS THOUGHT YOU COULD WAGER ABOUT A MAX. OF 20-50K ON A GAME, BUT REALLY NEVER BEEN THERE, SO I DIDN'T KNOW!!

There was an article in the December 8 Sports Illustrated regarding the extent to which Vegas books are trying to shut down wise guys. The author tried to place a $10,000 bet on a CBB team after making a couple other large bets earlier in the day. Caesar's Palace shut him down. The gist of the article is that the Vegas books are driving professional gamblers to the offshores, preferring to earn their juice off lower amounts of dumb money than to take on the exposure of a wise guy's hefty wager.

              BUGS

I know for fact that many sportsbooks in Vegas HATE basketball. there are some that have dime limits. They consider basketball a "Wise Guy" sport.
