YTD 0-0
I broke my streak of four straight profitable baseball seasons here on on BC last year with a tiny -0.61 unit loss on the year. In truth, I was way down prior to the post-season but made up almost all the lost ground by riding the Giants.
I did show a profit on dogs, as I have every year since I started posting baseball here. Last year was the first in which more than half my dogs failed to win straight up, even though the unit total showed a profit.
Games will be rated 1-4 *. Virtually all will be 1*.
My rules:
1) Play almost all dogs.
2) Never EVER play a fave at more than -140.
3) Play streaks. Baseball is a game of streaks. Teams get hot and cold.
4) The best bet in all of sports is playing bad, but hot, baseball teams. The lines never catch up to current form.
5) Avoid teams with bad closers.
6) Be selective.
One play to start the season:
1* Astros +128
The Mets aren't hitting and are a phony favorite here. NYM has scored only nine runs its last five games. Chris Capuano has been awful so far----not surprising since this is his first full season in nearly four years. J.A. Happ is a good pitcher. Astros going for the sweep and I'm with 'em.
Opinion only:
Rays/WSox UNDER
I almsot made this one a full play except I hate baseball unders. Tampa is 15-3 UNDER!!!! White Sox have six runs in last five games!
