My only comment on this argument is this:
Even if I play devil's advocate and say 1) US had no right to invade Iraq and 2) many US troops died needlessly, then to me it seems that in view of #2 and 3) since if Saddam were not removed from office and were not captured, then many untold thousands of Iraqis would die;this leads me to premise that we should complete what we started..
Thus, looking at it under present circumstances and not the ones which led up to capture, I think it is only common sense for all of us to agree that it is a great thing that he has been captured and can no longer slaughter untold thousands of human beings.
I say this as an independent voter who has usually voted for the democratic presidential candidate.
In short, in this case for reasons stated above it is what is that today that counts and not what was.
