Oswalt faces Astros for first time on Sunday

    HOUSTON ASTROS (0-2)

    at PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES (2-0)

First pitch: Sunday, 1:35 p.m. EDT
    Line: Philadelphia -225, Houston +205

Philadelphia looks to complete a three-game sweep of Houston when Roy Oswalt faces his former teammates on Sunday afternoon at Citizens Bank Park.

Oswalt, who won 143 games with the Astros, will take the mound against Houston for the first time. He was 13-13 between Philly and Houston in 2010 with a 2.76 ERA. The right-hander threw 211.2 innings with 193 strikeouts and a 1.03 WHIP. He was 7-0 in August and September for the Phillies and sported a 1.33 ERA in the final two months of the season. And Oswalt was unbeatable at Citizens Bank Park, finishing the season 5-0 in six starts with a 1.76 ERA. In 41 innings at home, he had 42 strikeouts and allowed only eight earned runs.

After rallying in the ninth inning to win the opener of the series on Friday, Philly got off to a fast start on Saturday. Placido Polanco had three hits and Raul Ibanez added two RBIs and scored three runs, giving Cliff Lee plenty of run support in a 9-4 victory. But the news wasn't all good, as Shane Victorino left in the fifth inning with a sore left calf. He is questionable for Sunday's game.

J.A. Happ was supposed to start on Sunday, but he was pushed back to Tuesday because of a strained oblique. Bud Norris (9-10, 4.92 ERA) will take the mound opposite Oswalt. Norris struggled early in the 2010 season (2-7 with a 6.08 ERA in his first 14 starts), but he finished strong with a 7-3 record and a 3.84 ERA in his final 13 starts. The right-hander ended his spring with a 7.71 ERA and gave up four homers in 21 innings. Polanco and Ibanez are a combined 6-for-12 versus him. Norris was 4-5 with a 5.47 ERA in 13 road starts in 2010, but is 1-1 with a 3.68 ERA in three starts versus the Phillies. The last time Norris pitched in Philly was last Aug. 24, when he got a no-decision after going six innings and allowing only one earned run in a 4-2 Houston victory in 16 innings.

The Phillies and Astros met seven times last season, with each team sweeping the other on their home field. Houston won four straight in Philadelphia in August, and the Phillies took all three contests in a series at Minute Maid Park in April. Houston, which ranked 28th in the majors in runs (611) has scored eight in two games against Philadelphia's aces. It won't get any easier against Oswalt on Sunday. This FoxSheets trend likes Philadelphia to complete the sweep on Sunday.

Charlie Manuel is 62-37 (62.6%, +20.2 Units) against the money line after 2 straight games with no home runs as the manager of PHILADELPHIA. The average score was PHILADELPHIA 4.8, OPPONENT 3.9 - (Rating = 1*).

Zito tries to give Giants series split with Dodgers

    SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS (1-2)

    at LOS ANGELES DODGERS (2-1)

First pitch: Sunday, 8:00 p.m. EDT
Line: Los Angeles -140, San Francisco +130, Total: 7.5
San Francisco looks to salvage a split of its four-game series against rival Los Angeles on Sunday night at Dodger Stadium.

The Giants will send Barry Zito to the mound, and the left-hander hopes to put a miserable season behind him. Zito's 2011 season got off to a rough start after he suffered a sore neck and back after being involved in a two-car accident in Los Angeles on Wednesday. Last season, he was 9-14 with a 4.15 ERA, which included a 1-10 stretch with a 5.19 ERA in 15 games. He was also ineffective on the road, finishing with a 5.09 ERA and 2-8 record in 16 starts. But despite an 0-3 record against the Dodgers last season, the left-hander did pitch well against L.A. He compiled a 2.41 ERA in six starts with a .192 BAA, while getting five total runs of support in those six games.

San Francisco broke out on offense with a 10-0 win over the Dodgers on Saturday, getting 13 hits to match its total from the first two games. Freddy Sanchez had three hits, including a double and homer, and drove in three runs. He is 5-for-11 in the series, and owns a .318 average in 27 career games at Dodger Stadium. But he's just 2-for-12 lifetime against Los Angeles starter Hiroki Kuroda.

Kuroda was 11-13 with a 3.39 ERA last year, and had 159 K in 196.1 innings with a WHIP of 1.16. He went 6-6 at home, where he had a very respectable 3.10 ERA in 17 starts. The right-hander is 2-2 with a 3.56 ERA, striking out 29 and walking just seven in seven career starts against San Francisco. However, he's 0-2 with a 7.47 ERA in three home games versus the Giants. Kuroda started one game against them in 2010 and allowed only three runs in eight innings with eight strikeouts in a 3-0 setback on Sept. 5. After winning the first two games in the series by one run, the Dodgers were shut out by Matt Cain in a 10-0 loss on Saturday. Infielder Juan Uribe missed his second straight game with a bruised left elbow, but is expected to play on Sunday.

Based on the clear-cut pitching advantage, the pick here is Los Angeles. The FoxSheets provide two trends supporting the Dodgers to win on Sunday.

Play Against - Any team (SAN FRANCISCO) - good team from last season who won 54% to 62% of their games, after a win. (106-78 over the last 5 seasons.) (57.6%, +47.9 units. Rating = 2*).

LA DODGERS are 48-19 (71.6%, +20.4 Units) against the money line in home games after a loss over the last 3 seasons. The average score was LA DODGERS 4.5, OPPONENT 3.3 - (Rating = 1*).

MLB odds: Giants, Dodgers conclude series

The San Francisco Giants enjoyed a wonderful, magical year last season. Unfortunately for them, it’s 2011 and things aren’t starting very well.
The Giants will play the finale of this four-game series Sunday night game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Game time from Dodger Stadium is 5 p.m. (PT) with ESPN2 televising.

Not the greatest of hitting clubs, the Giants’ defense has been shoddy. They’ve committed five errors en route to losing the first two games of the series.

San Francisco manager Bruce Bochy is hoping Barry Zito can make the start versus the Dodgers’ Hiroki Kuroda.

Zito was involved in a two-car accident this past Wednesday night. He was taken to a hospital for a precautionary examination and released. He showed up to the stadium on Thursday wearing a neck brace.

Zito, who turns 33 next month, threw between 35 and 40 pitches on Friday in an effort to show he’s OK. He said his neck felt good after the pitching session.

“I was encouraged by it,” Giants pitching coach Dave Righetti was quoted as saying following Zito’s workout. “I was expecting a stiffer guy.”

Until Philadelphia added Cliff Lee to go with Roy Halladay, Cole Hamels, Roy Oswalt and Joe Blanton, the Giants had the top starting pitching staff in the majors.

Zito, though, is considered the weak link. He was dropped from last year’s postseason pitching staff after posting a 9-14 record with a 4.15 ERA during the regular season. His 1.79 strikeout-per-walk ratio rated 80th of 92 qualified starters

The Giants have lost eight of Zito’s past nine outings and are 0-6 during his past six division starts.

Zito started last year by going 6-1 with a 2.15 ERA in his first eight starts, but finished 1-8 with a 6.80 ERA in his last 10 games. That included nine starts.

Striving to justify his $126 million contract, Zito was San Francisco’s only starter to work six innings twice in Cactus League exhibitions.

The lefty faced the Dodgers six times last season and San Francisco lost on five occasions. However, only once in the six games did Zito allow more than two runs.

Lifetime versus the Dodgers, Zito is 6-8 with a 3.83. The ‘under’ is 12-1-3 in Zito’s last 16 starts against Los Angeles.

Giants pitchers will have to deal with outfielder Matt Kemp, who entered the weekend hitting .322 with three homers, 22 runs scored and 13 RBIs in his last 33 home games against San Francisco.

Kuroda is 2-2 career-wise versus San Francisco with a 3.56 ERA. He started one game against the Giants last season and lost, 3-0, as a 135 home favorite opposing Jonathan Sanchez. The combined three runs went ‘under’ the seven-run total.

Kuroda gave up three earned runs to the Giants in eight innings, allowing six hits with eight strikeouts and three walks.

Los Angeles has won seven of the last nine times Kuroda has gone against a foe with a losing record. The 36-year right-hander was 11-13 with a 3.39 ERA in 2010. He was 6-6 at Dodger Stadium with a 3.10 ERA.

Kuroda, from Osaka, Japan, is 28-30 in his career with a 3.60 ERA and 1.18 WHIP.

Adrian Johnson is slated to be the home plate umpire, with the ‘under’ going 7-3 the last 10 times he has been behind the dish. The ‘under’ was 18-16 in Johnson’s 34 games behind the plate last year.

Dodgers infielder Juan Uribe, who spent the previous two years with the Giants, is dealing with an elbow injury after getting hit by a pitch by Tim Lincecum during Thursday’s opener

NBA Odds: Knicks soaring 'over' the total

The ’over’ is 10-4 in New York’s last 14 outings.
There are less than two weeks left in the NBA regular season as teams continue to jockey for position prior to the start of the playoffs. There are 10 teams that have already clinched a spot and 10 teams are still battling it out for the other six positions.
Each squad has about six games left to play, but it is not too late to capitalize on the value that the ‘total line’ has offered this year.

Scoring trends this season have slightly favored the ‘under’ through Saturday’s action, with 631 of 1,217 games staying ‘under’ the total (51.9 percent). Games ending in regulation have stayed ‘under’ 54.6 percent of the time, while 68 of the 82 games that have gone to overtime went ‘over’ the total.

The Denver Nuggets, even without Carmelo Anthony, remain the highest scoring team in the league with an average of 107.5 points a game. They are giving up an average of 102.8 points, making them a prime candidate as the perfect team when it comes to playing the ‘over’.

Unfortunately the oddsmakers are privy to this information as well, and have adjusted the total line for Nuggets’ games accordingly. The total has actually stayed ‘under’ in 39 of their 74 games this season (52.7 percent).

The Dallas Mavs are averaging 99.8 points per game and are allowing 96 PPG. The Mavericks have seen the ‘over’ cash in 43 of 76 games (56.6 percent). However, the ‘under’ is 6-2 in the club’s last eight outings.

San Antonio, which still has the best record in the league despite its current six-game losing streak, has seen 55.3 percent of its games go ‘over’ the total. The Spurs are averaging 103.4 points a game and are outscoring their opponents by 5.5 points. Their recent injury woes have only enhanced this value, as seven of their last eight games have gone ‘over’ the total.

The New Orleans Hornets and the Milwaukee Bucks have both enjoyed ‘under’ success. The total has stayed ‘under’ in 49 of the Hornets’ 76 games this season (64.5 percent). The total has stayed ‘under’ in 61.8 percent of the Bucks’ 76 games this season. Recent trends bear these numbers out, with five of their last eight games staying ‘under’ the total as well.

Looking for ‘over’ teams? The New York Knicks are the second highest scoring team in the league, averaging 106.2 PPG, and 28th in points allowed at 105.8. The total has gone ‘over’ in 10 of their last 14 games, including their last five.

A team that has been trending ‘under’ lately is the Boston Celtics. They are averaging 96.6 points a game this season, but have only averaged 88.4 points over their last 13 games. The total line has yet to fully adjust for this downturn in production, as 11 of these games have stayed ‘under’ the total.

NHL odds: Chicago hosts tired Tampa Bay

Tampa Bay registered a 4-3 shootout win against Chicago earlier this season.
The Tampa Bay Lighting will go for a season sweep of the defending champion Chicago Blackhawks when the two clubs meet Sunday at United Center. The NHL Network will televise the contest starting at 4 p.m. (PT).
Tampa Bay will be returning to the postseason for the first time since 2007 after clinching a playoff spot with a 2-1 victory over Pittsburgh this past Thursday as a 117 home favorite.

The Lightning are currently in fifth-place in the Eastern Conference with 95 points and could very well face the Penguins in a first-round matchup. The Lightning were 42-24-11 heading into Saturday’s game against Minnesota.

Center Steven Stamkos leads a Tampa Bay offense that is ranked eighth in the league in scoring with an average of 2.91 goals a game. Stamkos has scored 44 goals, followed by Martin St. Louis, who is second in the NHL in total points with 30 goals and 62 assists. Each player has tallied seven game-winning goals this season.

Dwayne Roloson is expected to get the start in goal. He has started 51 of Tampa’s 77 games this season and has a 2.60 GAA and a .914 save percentage. The Lightning are ranked 23rd in the league in goals allowed, yielding an average of 2.92 per game. The defense has been effective against the power play, with an 83.3 percent kill rate.

Chicago still has some work to do to earn a chance to defend its Stanley Cup title. It is clinging to the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference with 92 points. The Blackhawks have a three-point lead over Calgary and are just four points behind fourth-place Phoenix.

The Hawks are 5-3-2 in their last 10 games and 42-27-8 overall.

Patrick Kane recorded a goal and an assist Friday to lead Chicago to a 4-3 shootout win over Columbus as a 208 road favorite. He is second on the team in total points with 26 goals and 43 assists. Center Jonathan Toews leads the way with 75 points and Patrick Sharp is the leading goal scorer with 34.

Sharp suffered a knee injury on March 20 and is expected to be out until later this month. This will undoubtedly have a negative effect on a Blackhawks’ team that is averaging 3.12 goals per game, which is third-best in the NHL.

Chicago will most likely go with Corey Crawford in goal. He has a 31-16-5 record in 52 starts with a 2.29 GGA and a .912 save percentage. The Blackhawks are allowing 2.69 goals per game and have struggled against the power play this season with one of the worst kill rates (79.3 percent) in the league.

The total has gone ‘over’ in four of Tampa Bay’s last five games and in 42 of 77 games overall. The ‘under’ is 6-1 in Chicago’s last seven games and in 41 of 77 games overall.

The Blackhawks have won three of the last four games in this series, but the Lightning came away with a 4-3 shootout win as a 114 home favorite on March 9 in the lone game this season. The total has gone ‘over’ in three of the last four games.

Fatigue could be a factor for Tampa, which will be playing its fourth game in six days

NBA odds: Hot Lakers host Nuggets on ABC-TV

Two Western Conference playoff teams collide on the pro basketball hardwood Sunday when the Denver Nuggets visit Los Angeles to play the Lakers during the second game of an ABC-TV doubleheader. Tip-off from Staples Center is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. (PT).
The Nuggets appear to have a lock on the fifth seed, which would translate into a first-round series with Oklahoma City.

The Lakers have been the hottest team in the NBA since the All-Star Break, and they are quickly moving to overtake San Antonio atop the Western Conference standings. The two-time defending champion Lakers are now just 1 ½ games behind the Spurs with seven games remaining.

These two teams are hoping to avoid any key injuries heading into the postseason. Denver has posted a 14-4 SU ledger since the Carmelo Anthony trade, while Los Angeles is 17-1 SU since hosting the All-Star Game.

Denver is riding a five-game SU winning streak (3-1-1 ATS) after Friday’s 99-90 victory over Sacramento as a five-point road favorite. The combined 199 points never seriously threatened the 217 ½-point closing total, helping the ‘under’ improve to 7-1 in Denver’s previous eight outings.

The Nuggets took control of the contest by outscoring the Kings in the third quarter, 31-16. Denver finished the game with advantages in rebounding, 45-41, assists, 23-19, and points in the paint, 58-48. The Nuggets shot a solid 49 percent (39-of-80) from the field, and 29 percent (4-of-14) from behind the arc.

Point guard Raymond Felton scored 14 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter, while power forward Kenyon Martin added 14. Center Nene contributed 12 and 12 rebounds in the victory, while shooting guard Arron Afflalo had 11 and five. Denver has now gone 19-7-1 ATS its last 27 games overall.

Los Angeles continued its winning ways by beating Utah Friday as an eight-point road ‘chalk,’ 96-85. The Lakers have now covered their last three games, while the combined 181 points went ‘under’ the 193 ½-point closing total.

Los Angeles found itself trailing the Jazz by 17 points in the first half, but stormed back for the road victory. The Lakers won despite trailing Utah in rebounding, 44-39, and points in the paint, 50-38. Los Angeles shot 48 percent (34-of-71) from the field, and 39 percent (7-of-18) from 3-point land.

Power forward Lamar Odom scored 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds off the bench, while shooting guard Kobe Bryant paced the offense with 21. Power forward Pau Gasol provided 16 and nine in the victory, while point guard Derek Fisher netted 15. The Lakers are 7-2 ATS their previous nine games versus Northwest Division opponents.

Los Angeles and Denver have split two earlier games this season, with each club covering the spread once. The Nuggets prevailed Nov. 11 as a three-point home underdog, 118-112, while the Lakers won Jan. 21 as a one-point road ‘chalk,’ 107-97. The ‘under’ is 14-5 the past 19 meetings in this series.

The Don Best Sports injury report lists Denver center Melvin Ely (personal), forward Al Harrington (Achilles) and guard Arron Afflalo (hamstring) as “questionable,” while forward Chris Andersen (ankle) is “doubtful.” Los Angeles forward Lamar Odom (flu) and forward Matt Barnes (suspension served) are “probable” against the Nuggets.

The Nuggets return home after this game to play Oklahoma City before traveling to face Dallas and the Thunder. The Lakers host Utah following this contest before embarking on a two-game road trip against Golden State and Portland

              Inside the Paint - Sunday

              April 3, 2011

The Association takes the day off tomorrow for Monday’s college basketball finale, which leaves us with an 11-game slate today. The action starts with a televised double-header on ABC at 1:00 p.m. EST, highlighted with two Western Conference matchups. Let’s take a closer look and also hit on some angles for the nine late contests.

              Seven Straight Losses?

Despite owning the best record in the NBA all season, San Antonio (57-19 SU, 40-34 ATS) still wasn’t given respect by the oddsmakers and we’re starting to see why. Greg Popovich’s team is searching for answers as they’ve dropped six straight (2-4 ATS) games. To San Antonio’s defense, it’s not getting blown out by any means. Four of the losses were by seven or less and another four were without All-Star Tim Duncan too. What is a tad troubling and definitely surprising for the Spurs is their defense. A team once proud of their stifling attitude is now a thing of the past, especially lately. During this skid, they’ve surrendered 108.3 PPG.

Fortunately for the Spurs, they’ll be facing a Phoenix (37-38 SU, 33-38 ATS) team that has slowed down its tempo from past seasons. The Suns have had an up-and-down run and will more than likely miss the playoffs. Even though point guard Steve Nash (flu) missed Friday’s games against the L.A. Clippers, the club still pulled out a 111-98 victory at home. The win snapped a four-game losing skid both SU and ATS. Nash’s status remains day-to-day, which is why there was no opener posted on this game. After this game, the Suns will remain on the road for four more games. Nash has been ruled 'out' for this game, but no opening line has been posted yet.

San Antonio definitely faces a must-win spot here today, especially if it wants to earn the top overall seed. The Spurs have defeated the Suns twice this season, both victories coming in 2010 and both by single digits. The ‘over’ easily cashed (112-110, 118-110) in the two affairs.

              Hot and Hotter!

Do you lay seven points with the L.A. Lakers (55-20 SU, 37-37 ATS) at home? Seems like a no brainer these days, no matter the opponent. Los Angeles has gone 17-1 since the All-Star break and has ripped off nine straight wins. Phil Jackson’s team has closed the lead on San Antonio to 1 ½-games for the top spot in the Western Conference and they have a great shot to pull it off. After Sunday’s affair, the Lakers have six games remaining with three on the road and three at home. The key matchup could come on Apr. 12 when the aforementioned Spurs visit the Staples Center.

Today’s game against Denver (46-29 SU, 40-32 ATS) is no walk in the park and the point-spread certainly says so. The Nuggets have been just as hot and a wager on them as underdogs certainly seems like a great look. Since sending Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups to the Knicks in exchange for a handful of players, Denver has produced a 14-4 SU record. Even more impressive, the Nuggets have gone 15-2-1 against the spread during this run and the wins haven’t just come against inferior clubs. Some victories that stand out were against Boston (89-75), New Orleans (114-103) and San Antonio (115-112).

George Karl’s team brings a five-game win streak into Sunday’s matchup against the Lakers, which will be the first of four tough battles. After Los Angeles, Denver hosts the Thunder on Tuesday before visiting Dallas the following night. Then, they head to Oklahoma City on Friday.

This will be the third and final meeting between the Nuggets and Lakers and the only encounter from Los Angeles. The Nuggets captured a 118-112 decision in early November and the Lakers avenged that loss with a 107-97 win in mid-January from Pepsi Center. ‘Melo scored 32 in Denver’s win but just 23 in the loss. The ‘over/under’ went 1-1.

Total players should note that Denver has watched the ‘under’ go 13-5 since ‘Melo left the team. Also, the Lakers have seen the ‘under’ go 11-7 in the second-half. Today’s ‘over/under’ is hovering between 202 and 203 points.

              CD’s Bonus Hits

Utah has been the biggest disappointment of the season, especially after starting 15-5. It traded point guard Deron Williams and watched legendary head coach Jerry Sloan resign amidst alleged arguments with Williams. Key injuries have also played a major part in Utah’s fall and definitely contributed to its current seven-game losing skid (2-4-1 ATS). The Jazz have an intriguing battle at Sacramento on tap for tonight and they're catching six points.

Cleveland is 3-0 both SU and ATS against New York this season, winning all three games as a live underdog. The Cavs are catching points (12) again today. Total players should note that the ‘over’ has cashed in all three as well. Today’s number is

Toronto will look to snap a five-game losing skid (1-4 ATS) when Orlando visits. Key injuries to forward Andrea Bargnani (ankle) and Jose Calderon (hamstring) have hurt the club.

Miami and the Nets have watched their last seven meetings go ‘under’ the number. Despite that run, still a high total (199) out there.

Boston lost eight times at home this season. Seven of those setbacks came to Western Conference opponents. The Celtics are laying 11 to the Pistons at TD Garden this evening.

Washington has 19 wins this season and it just beat Cleveland (115-107) on Friday. Flip Saunders’ team heads to Charlotte and gamblers should know that the Wizards have only won consecutive games once this season. No early line due to injuries but if it’s short, the home squad could have value.

Atlanta has quietly ripped off four straight wins both SU and ATS. Will the streak continue at Houston tonight? Oddsmakers are ignoring that run, with the Rockets listed as five-point favorites.

                Giants at Dodgers

                April 2, 2011

The first weekend of the baseball season concludes at Chavez Ravine in Southern California as the Giants and Dodgers finish off a four-game set. The defending World Series champions fell short in each of the first two games by one run each, including a come-from-ahead loss in Friday's 4-3 setback. San Francisco rebounded on Saturday with a 10-0 blasting of Los Angeles, led by a solid outing from Matt Cain. The Giants will try to claim the series finale with a former Cy Young Award winner on the mound.

Barry Zito makes his first start of the season even though the southpaw was involved in a car accident on Wednesday in Los Angeles. Zito should be set to take the mound after an MRI came back normal following the accident. The left-hander went 2-0 in four spring training starts, while compiling an ERA of 2.30. However, Zito looks to turn around his luck against San Francisco's biggest rival.

Last season, the Giants lost five of six meetings to the Dodgers when Zito started, as all six games finished 'under' the total. The run support for Zito was awful with the Giants plating seven runs in the six games, while getting shut out twice. For the exception of one poor start in early September, Zito did his job against the Dodgers by delivering four quality starts.

The Dodgers go for the series win by sending Hiroki Kuroda to the rubber in the finale. Kuroda went 11-13 last season, while putting together a career-best ERA of 3.39. The right-hander pitched well down the stretch as the Dodgers won five of his final seven starts, but one of those losses came at home to the Giants. San Francisco blanked Los Angeles, 3-0 on September 5, as Kuroda went eight innings, allowing six hits and three earned runs.

Los Angeles looks for its series victory over San Francisco since last May, as the Giants have taken the four previous series. In fact, the Dodgers won five of the first six matchups in 2010 before the Giants grabbed nine of the final 12 meetings from their division rival.

                Review and Preview:

-- The White Sox and Blue Jays have provided plenty of pop through the first two days of the season as each team cruised to easy victories. Chicago jumped on Cleveland early and often to capture the first two games at Progressive Field, while building 14-0 and 5-0 leads over the Tribe. Toronto used a big first-inning in Friday's blowout of Minnesota, as the Jays didn't miss Vernon Wells, who was sent to the Angels in the offseason.

-- Aces had their ups and downs through the first few days of the season as Chris Carpenter, Roy Halladay, CC Sabathia, and Yovani Gallardo all received no-decisions in their initial start. Halladay and Sabathia were bailed out with late rallies, while Gallardo and Carpenter were denied wins after each of their bullpens blew ninth-inning leads. Tim Lincecum pitched fantastic, but he was dealt a loss in his first start against the Dodgers, despite tossing seven innings and allowing one unearned run.

-- With the first series of games now over, six new series begin on Monday as each league has three games on the card. The Braves continue their road swing in Milwaukee against the Brewers in a battle of two teams that be playing October baseball, while the Cardinals take on their first division opponent when the Pirates invade Busch Stadium. In the American League, the Twins and Yankees hook up for the first time since the Bombers eliminated Minnesota in last October's ALDS. Elsewhere, Erik Bedard is expected to make his first start since July 2009 when the Mariners travel to Texas.
