  • Picks For Tuesday

    I will try to give a quick write-up with these Conference Tourney games. When too many games are going at once, it will be tough to do any write-ups at all though.

    CBB

    5* Connecticut -15 (12:00 PM)

    After starting the season (5-6), the Blue Demons are (2-17) since. They are not a good team and they have become even worse since losing F Cleveland Martin. He was their leading scorer, fg % guy and lead block man too. Since his injury vs St John's, they have lost 4 straight by an average of 21+ ppg. The Huskies have struggled down the stretch but this may be the perfect opponent for them to "right the ship" close to home in NY.

    5* Rutgers +4 (2:30 PM)

    These teams split the 2 games this season by each winning on the other teams home floor. Rutgers won by 6 at Seton Hall and lost by 5 at home to the Pirates. Both teams are from Jersey and with this game being played in NY, expect a true neutral site atmosphere with both teams bringing a ton of fans in for this one. Rutgers is only (2-8) in their last 10 but they have played really well losing by 3 to Pittsburgh, by 2 at St John's, by 4 at Syracuse in OT, by 7 at Notre Dame and by 1 at Providence. The dog is (6-1) Ats in the last 7 meetings and i expect a very tight game right to the end.

    GOOD LUCK!

                5* St Bonaventure -4 (-120) (5:00 PM)

                This series has not been close in several years. In 9 of the last 10 meetings, the winner of the game won by double digits. Only one was decided by less than 10 points and that was a 5 point Bonnies win in 09'. St Bonaventure has Home court and they also have All Conference 1st Team player F Andrew Nicholson on their side as well. If this game is decided by DD again, it should be the Bonnies on the winning side!

                GOOD LUCK!

                        5* Pennsylvania +3 (7:00 PM)

                        It is going to be tough for Princeton to get this emotionally high for a 2nd straight road game. They could have clinched their NCAA berth with a win over Harvard last weekend and made this one meaningless. They didn't and they got beat pretty good by Harvard in that game. Now they have to get charged up to win a game just to get to a playoff and it has to be done on the road and against their biggest rival? Not a good spot here IMO and i think the Quakers can't wait to see them. Penn is (7-2) Ats in the last 9 meetings and they are a very good team at home too. Even if it isn't an upset, it could still end within the 3. Penn played the best team in the Conference (Harvard) to a double overtime 1 point loss at home, so it is possible. A win for Penn also makes them eligible for postseason play in the NIT or another tourney. They too have a lot to play for here!

                        5* North Texas -3 (-120) (7:05 PM)

                        The Mean Green are looking for their 2nd straight trip to the Big Dance and i think they get it done tonight. They have the experience to do it and they have handled Little Rock twice already this season. North Texas is a solid team and with wins over teams like Texas Tech and LSU, they have shown they are not afraid of the spotlight!

                        5* Wisconsin Milwaukee +3 (9:05 PM)

                        It would be so easy to look at this game and just check off Butler and move on. When you really look at it though, I think you have to take the points with the Home team here. I know it is tough to beat a team 3 times and with Butler's experience, it makes it even tougher. Milwaukee is a really good team though. They have won 10 of their last 11 and at Home they are (10-4) this season while Butler is only (6-6) in true road games. Milwaukee has also covered 6 straight vs Butler and they are (5-1) Ats at Home in their last 6 vs the Bulldogs. It has been a weird year for Butler and i just smell an upset in this one!

                        5* ML Parlay = Villanova - Oakland ---> 6.47 Units to Win 5 (7 & 9 PM)

                        Villanova is a lot like UConn here. They need a Win and playing close to Home, they should get it vs a poor S. Fla team. I don't like laying the points simply based on Nova blowing leads late in games lately. As far as Oakland goes, this team is GOOD. They have 5 guys who can score 20 on any given night and i just can't picture them not being in your brackets next week. Can you say Tourney Sleeper?

                        GOOD LUCK!
