Hawks look to bounce back against road-tough Bobcats

The Hawks host the Bobcats on Saturday in a battle between Southeast Division rivals.

Charlotte is 25-27 ATS this season which includes a 14-12 record ATS on the road. The Bobcats have won two straight and nine of their past 11 ATS on the road. They have lost six of their last eight games SU, including Friday night’s 94-89 home loss to New Jersey. Scoring has been the Bobcats’ issue all season long. Only two teams average fewer than Charlotte’s 93.6 PPG. D.J. Augustin has been the poster boy for the Bobcats recent struggles. He scored just four points Friday and is averaging 10.4 PPG on 30.9 percent shooting over his past five games.

Atlanta is 24-28 ATS this season and only the Cavaliers have a worse home record ATS at home than the Hawks’ 9-16 mark (36%). For the second time in less than a month, Atlanta will look to get well against the Bobcats after a brutal loss. The first time, the Hawks were blown out by 41 points and scored just 59 in a loss to New Orleans. They responded with a 103-87 win over Charlotte in their next game. Tuesday they suffered their second-worst loss of the season, a 117-83 blowout against Philadelphia. Joe Johnson was limited to a season-low-tying six points, but he is averaging 26.6 points in his past 10 home meetings with Charlotte. Both of those awful losses had one thing in common and that was Atlanta played without Al Horford. He practiced Friday for the first time since injuring his back prior to making the game-winning free throws with 0.6 seconds remaining in a 101-100 win Feb. 4 over the Los Angeles Clippers, but Horford’s status for Saturday is unclear.

Atlanta has won seven straight against the Bobcats at home, where the Hawks have held Charlotte to 88.7 PPG. Even if Horford can’t go, I still like Atlanta to rally and redeem itself after a poor performance against Philadelphia. The FoxSheets also support the Hawks on Saturday:

Bulls tabbed as road favorite at New Orleans

Chicago travels to New Orleans to complete its five-game road trip. The Bulls have split their first four contests on the trip.

Chicago is coming off a 91-86 win over Utah Wednesday after dropping two straight against Golden State and Portland. The Bulls are 29-21 ATS this season, posting a 13-11 record ATS on the road. The win against Utah snapped a two-game losing streak ATS also, and marked the fifth time in its past seven games that Chicago has won ATS. Derrick Rose scored 29 points at Utah and is averaging 27.8 PPG on this trip. While the Bulls have won all four games against New Orleans with Rose, he has struggled in those matchups. Rose is averaging just 14.3 PPG on 41.9 percent shooting against the Hornets. Only the Magic have held Rose to fewer PPG with 14.1. The Bulls have stifled their opponents recently, allowing just 88 PPG on 41.3 percent shooting over their past 16 games. Chicago is 12-4 over that stretch.

New Orleans defeated Orlando on Friday night for just its second win in its past nine games. The Hornets are 27-26 ATS over and 13-14 ATS at home this season. The win against the Magic snapped a seven-game losing streak ATS. They have lost four straight and six of seven ATS at home. Willie Green scored a season-high 24 points against Orlando and is averaging 21.5 PPG over his past two games. Chris Paul is averaging just 13.7 PPG and shooting 35.1 percent from the field over his past three games. After averaging 30.3 PPG, 11.0 APG and shooting 62.9 percent from the field against Chicago in winning two of his previous three games, Paul averaged just 16.5 PPG and shot 48.1 percent in losing both games last season.

This is the second game in consecutive nights for New Orleans who is just 5-7 SU and 6-5-1 ATS in those games. However, Chicago has lost six of its past seven games ATS when it is are giving points on the road. I like the Bulls to win, but not cover. I’m taking New Orleans who have won two of its past three when it is a home underdog. This highly-rated FoxSheets trend also likes the Hornets:
