NCAA Odds: Big East Conference betting update

Big East basketball has been dominating the rankings since the season's outset, with nine of the conference's 16 teams part of the most recent AP poll and seven occupying slots on the coaches list. Those numbers will diminish now that the schools begin to beat up on each other.

What college hoops bettors want to know is how conference play might affect NCAA Tournament seeding which will play a huge roll in the success and failure of their futures wagers.

The latest numbers from Bodog.com show Duke still at the top of the NCAA board at 2/1. The Blue Devils are followed by Ohio State and Kansas with 9/2 and 7/1 odds respectively. Syracuse is 10/1, the top Big East school on the list.

The season opened with Pittsburgh and Villanova co-favorites to win the Big East at 5/2. Pitt's win over Syracuse earlier this week make the Panthers at the top of the conference standings with a 6-0 record. The Orange follow at 5-1 and face another crucial contest this Saturday when they host 4-1 'Nova.

Syracuse heads into the weekend with a 17-1 overall mark, but just 7-10 against the spread. Syracuse's 10/1 NCAA futures odds are trailed by Pitt (12/1) and Villanova (18/1) among Big East teams. Connecticut is 25/1, offering a slightly better return than Bodog's 22/1 on the field.

Villanova's futures haven't changed since late-October when the Wildcats were 18/1 to win it all. Pittsburgh was 20/1 at that time with Syracuse 30/1.

Jim Boeheim's lads won't get a chance to avenge their defeat to Pittsburgh unless the two rivals meet in the Big East Tournament, slated for March 8-12 at Madison Square Garden. Before 'Cuse can even think about that, there are two matchups with 'Nova, two with Georgetown plus one each with UConn and Louisville. And those are just the conference contests against teams currently ranked.

To think that any team will run the table in the conference is pretty far-fetched, but the Panthers remain the only team with a shot. Pitt (18-1 SU, 7-7 ATS) has a home-&-home with Villanova still to come, plus a home date with Notre Dame and road trip to Louisville. The other two possible stumbling spots are away games at West Virginia and St. John's.

Villanova (16-2 SU, 10-5 ATS), though third behind Pitt and 'Cuse currently, remains in control of its own destiny. The Wildcats have two games against both the Panthers and Orange, the first of that quartet at Syracuse this weekend. If you haven't done so already, circle March 5 on your calendar. Villanova closes the regular season at Pittsburgh that day, a game that could easily decide the top seed for the conference tourney and the leading candidate for a No. 1 seed in March Madness.

While the Pitt-'Cuse-'Nova trio leads the way right now, another threesome will definitely play a role in the outcome.

Louisville (15-3 SU, 9-5-1 ATS) has sort of sneaked its way into the mix after opening the season unranked. The Cardinals were listed behind teams such as Murray State and New Mexico in the preseason tabulation for the ESPN/USA Today poll, and well behind their conference rivals from West Virginia who were 28th on that initial list. Oddsmakers weren't fooled, however, listing Louisville at 20/1 then to win the NCAA Championship with the Mountaineers 60/1.

Cardinals futures odds have since risen to 50/1 despite moving well up in the rankings. Louisville still has matchups on the calendar with UConn (twice), Georgetown, Notre Dame, Syracuse and Pittsburgh.

Notre Dame (15-4 SU, 8-7 ATS) already has three conference losses, all on the road, and faces six more away battles among its final 11 regular season games. One of those road tilts is next week at Pitt with another at UConn on the final Saturday of the season. There are also home games with Louisville and Villanova.

The Irish, presently 60/1 to win the NCAA crown, will be hard-pressed to go 8-3 from here on out; anything less and they are looking at entering the Big East Tournament with an 8-9 seed.

Connecticut (15-2 SU, 8-3 ATS) ventures outside the conference for this Saturday's clash in Hartford with the Tennessee Volunteers. The Huskies final 12 Big East games are split 6-6 home and away. The good news there is only one of those road games is against a ranked team, Feb. 18 at Louisville. The rest of the tough matchups are at home with games against Louisville, Syracuse, Georgetown and Notre Dame.

If UConn can defend its own floor perfectly the rest of the way, this could easily be a three-loss team entering the conference tournament. With a star like Kemba Walker on their side, that could make the Huskies a very, very dangerous team at Madison Square Garden and points elsewhere in March.

NBA Odds: Indiana Pacers at Portland Trail Blazers

The Indiana Pacers will attempt to snap their three-game losing skid Saturday when they continue a four-game West Coast excursion with a stop in Portland to play a Blazers squad that is on a four-game winning streak.

Tip-off from Portland's Rose Garden is 7 p.m. (PT). No television coverage is listed for the contest.

Indiana began the trip Monday by dropping a 114-107 decision to the Clippers as three-point road underdogs. The combined 221 points soared ‘over’ the 199 ½-point closing total.

The expedition continued Wednesday, with the Pacers suffering a heartbreaking 110-108 setback at Golden State as five-point road underdogs. Though the combined 218 points once again went ‘over’ the 214-point closing total, the ‘under’ is still 26-13 in Indiana’s first 39 outings.

The Pacers lost the game when Golden State’s Monta Ellis sank a basket with just 0.6 seconds remaining in regulation.

Danny Granger led the Pacers with 32 points, 13 rebounds and six assists. Tyler Hansbrough finished with 16 points and five rebounds, but saw minimal minutes in the second half as the Pacers stuck with a small lineup.

Roy Hibbert, who leads the team in rebounding at eight boards per game, missed the contest with an upper respiratory infection. Josh McRoberts started in place of Hibbert at center and played 18 minutes. The Don Best Sports injury report lists Hibbert as “questionable” for Saturday’s contest.

The two losses lowered Indiana’s road ledger to 6-13 SU and 8-10-1 ATS. The Pacers are getting outscored away from home by a little more than five points per game (100.7 to 95.1).

The Pacers rank 19th offensively overall, averaging 97.3 PPG average. They are a dismal 28th in field goal percentage, hitting just 43.3 of their shots. Indiana is allowing 98.3 PPG, which ranks 14th. The squad is holding the opposition to 43.9 percent from the field, which is the fourth best mark in the league.

Portland extended its winning streak to four with Thursday’s 108-93 victory against the Clippers as three-point home favorites. The win raised the Blazers’ home ledger to 15-5 SU and 12-8 ATS. They are outscoring the opposition at home by a little more than six points per game (99.1 to 93.0).

Though the combined 201 points topped the 194 ½-point closing total, the ‘under’ is still 22-21-1 in Portland’s first 44 efforts and 10-9-1 in its first 20 home dates.

Portland looked tired at the beginning of the game against the Clippers because it had played an overtime contest the night before against Sacramento. As a result, the Blazers missed seven of their first eight shots and fell behind 16-2 before catching fire late.

LaMarcus Aldridge and Wesley Matthews each scored 28 points to lead Portland’s offense. Aldridge was particularly efficient, hitting 13 of his 20 shots. Point guard Andre Miller added 15 points, seven assists and eight rebounds.

Despite registering triple-digits in six of their last 10 games, the Blazers still rank near the bottom of most offensive categories. They are 24th in average points scored (96.1), 25th in field goal percentage (44.2) and 28th in three-point percentage (33.1).

Marcus Camby has elected to undergo surgery on a partial tear of the meniscus in his left knee and will be sidelined for approximately five weeks. The center was leading the Blazers with 11.9 rebounds per contest through his first 39 games.

The Pacers and Blazers have not met this season, but Indiana is a nifty 10-3 ATS in the last 13 series matchups. However, Portland is 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS in the last four meetings.

Portland will continue its five-game homestand Monday by hosting Sacramento. The Pacers will conclude their four-game road trip Sunday by traveling to Denver for a date with the Nuggets

NHL Odds: Coyotes and Kings meet again

Los Angeles and Phoenix conclude a home-and-home series with Saturday’s contest. The Coyotes (24-15-6-3) snapped a two-game losing skid while extending the Kings’ (24-22-1-0) current slide to three after Thursday’s triumph as a 125 road underdog, 2-0. The two goals failed to topple the five-goal closing total, ending a string of back-to-back ‘over’ outings in this series.

Phoenix scored both goals in the second period, while netminder Ilya Bryzgalov recorded his 19th career shutout by stonewalling 36 shots. The Russia native now has three shutout victories this season after surrendering eight goals in consecutive setbacks to San Jose and Nashville. Bryzgalov now maintains a solid 12-2-1 record against Los Angeles.

Phoenix center Martin Hanzal opened the scoring with a disputed goal, lighting the lamp with a high stick that wasn’t called. Hanzal buried a rebound from a Ray Whitney shot, and the goal was allowed after a lengthy review. Lee Stempniak also found the back of the net for the Coyotes less than a minute later.

Los Angeles was unable to score on five power-play chances or 36 shot attempts, while limiting Phoenix to just 15 shots on goal. The Kings also held the Coyotes to just six shots on goal in the first period.

Los Angeles is currently mired in a 2-10-0 slide, leaving the team in 12th place in the Western Conference standings. The Kings are just five points behind Chicago and Colorado for the eighth and final playoff slot with 35 games remaining. Los Angeles is now a dismal 0-for-19 on the power play over the previous six games, matching its longest drought of last year.

Phoenix is now in fifth place in the Western Conference standings, just one point behind Nashville and one point ahead of Anaheim. The Coyotes are now 6-2 their last eight outings against conference opponents, while the ‘over’ is 20-8-3 their past 31 home games.

Phoenix has won the previous four meetings with in this series, including all three encounters this season. The home team is now 36-17-6 the last 59 meetings, while Los Angeles is just 7-22-2 the past 31 outings in Phoenix.

The Coyotes were involved in six straight ‘over’ outings until Thursday’s matchup. The Kings have now seen the ‘under’ go 5-1 their previous six games.

Los Angeles left wing Marco Sturm is ‘out’ indefinitely due to a knee injury, while right wing Scott Parse is ‘out’ due to an injured hip. The Kings follow this contest with a two-game homestand against Boston and San Jose.

Phoenix defenseman Ed Jovanovski (lower body), left wing Brett MacLean (undisclosed) and defenseman David Schlemko (concussion) are ‘questionable’ versus the Kings, while center Vernon Fiddler (upper body) is ‘out’ indefinitely. The Coyotes host Edmonton Tuesday before embarking on a two-game road trip versus Colorado and San Jose.

FOX Sports West will provide coverage of Saturday’s matchup beginning at 5:00 p.m. PT from Phoenix’s Jobing.com Arena.

Atlanta looks for rare win at Charlotte

            ATLANTA HAWKS (28-16)

            at CHARLOTTE BOBCATS (17-24)

            Tip-off: Saturday, 7:00 p.m. EDT
            Line: Charlotte -3, Total: 185

Atlanta looks to erase the memory of Friday night’s 100-59 home loss to New Orleans and regroup in time for a visit to Charlotte. The 59 points marked the fewest points in the team’s 42-year history since moving to Atlanta.

The Hawks were riding high after a big overtime victory in Miami on Tuesday, 93-89 as they held the Heat to 36.4% FG and forced 16 turnovers to win their sixth straight game decided by five points or fewer. Friday night was quite a different story as Atlanta shot 29.1% from the field and was outrebounded 60-39. Shooting woes are nothing new for the Hawks who now have six straight games below 50% from the field. Despite the ugly loss, the Hawks should be confident away from home where they have won five straight road games, going 4-1 ATS in those games. They would probably be more assured of themselves if Al Horford (16.2 PPG, 9.7 RPG) was on the court, but the starting center will likely miss his second straight game with an ankle injury. Atlanta is also without Marvin Williams (11.0 PPG, 4.8 RPG) who will miss his 11th consecutive game with a back injury. Williams has started practicing, but the team has not set a timetable for his return to the court. Although he doesn’t start, Jamal Crawford has been Atlanta’s best road player this season, with 18.3 PPG on 48.4% FG (41.3% on threes). Crawford dropped 50 points on the Bobcats two seasons ago when he was with Golden State.

Charlotte is 19-21 ATS this year, including 10-11 ATS at home, but it is a stellar 5-2 ATS in division games. The Bobcats are also 7-2 ATS (6-3 SU) in their past nine games. The big reason for their improved record has been a better defensive effort. Charlotte has held its past eight opponents to under 100 points and has only allowed one team (Boston) to shoot over 50% against them since December 20, a span of 14 games. Speaking of poor shooting, Bobcats leading scorer Stephen Jackson (18.1 PPG), has been ice-cold lately, shooting 31% FG in his past five games including 4-for-28 from three-point land. Gerald Wallace (15.9 PPG) has also struggled shooting the ball with just 11.3 PPG on 39% FG in his past four games. D.J. Augustin was the hero in Thursday’s 100-97 win over Philadelphia with a career-high 31 points and eight assists. He has increased his numbers greatly this month with 17.8 PPG and 7.5 APG, up from 13.9 PPG and 4.3 APG in December. The Bobcats will be without Tyrus Thomas (11.1 PPG and 5.8 RPG) for the next two months after he suffered a knee injury in Tuesday’s win at Chicago.

The Hawks are 2-10 all-time (SU and ATS) when visiting Charlotte, and have lost their past three trips to North Carolina by an average of 12.0 PPG. The Bobcats are also 18-7 ATS (72%) versus Atlanta overall. The FoxSheets provide another reason why Charlotte is the pick.

Play Against - Road underdogs (ATLANTA) - after failing to cover 4 of their last 5 against the spread, good team, winning 60-75% or more of their games on the season. (58-25 over the last 5 seasons.) (69.9%, +30.5 units. Rating = 3*).

Magic favored by 3 over Rockets

              ORLANDO MAGIC (28-15)

              at HOUSTON ROCKETS (20-24)

              Tip-off: Saturday, 8:30 p.m. EDT
              Line: Orlando -3, Total: 207.5

Orlando visits Houston on Saturday as both teams return to action after playing on Friday night. This is the second meeting this month between these teams as the Magic defeated the Rockets 110-95 on January 7 at Orlando.

The Rockets had their three-game winning streak snapped on Friday with a 115-110 loss at Memphis. Prior to winning those three games, the Rockets suffered through a 1-7 stretch. Houston is 10-10-1 ATS (12-9 SU) at home this season. The Rockets have covered the spread just twice at home since December 17, going 2-6-1 ATS at Toyota Center. Houston’s struggles are closely related to its ability to outrebound its opponent, as the Rockets are 8-2 (SU and ATS) when they control the glass, but 2-8 SU (0-8-2 ATS) when they get outrebounded since December 15. Kevin Martin is averaging 29.7 PPG over his past three games and is coming off a 32-point effort in Friday’s loss to the Grizzlies. Martin scored 27 in the Rockets’ loss earlier this season at Orlando.

The Magic are 19-23 ATS on the season including 7-13 ATS on the road, but they are coming off an impressive 40-point rout of the Raptors on Friday, holding Toronto to just 72 points on 35.4 percent shooting. Dwight Howard had 31 points and 19 rebounds on Friday and is averaging 27.7 PPG and 14.3 RPG over his past six games. Historically, Howard has struggled against the Rockets, as his 14.2 PPG in 13 career games is his lowest against any team. Nine of those first 10 games came against Yao Ming where Howard averaged just 12.8 PPG, 10.4 RPG and shot just 45.8 percent. In his last three games against Houston without Yao, Howard is averaging 18.7 PPG, 15.7 RPG and shooting 73.3% from the field. Things should be even better for Howard on Saturday, as the Rockets allowed a season-worst 72 points in the paint to the Grizzlies on Friday. Ryan Anderson has also come alive of late. Starting with the game against the Rockets on January 7, Anderson is averaging 16.0 PPG in his past eight games while shooting 50.5% from the field and 47.4% from behind the arc.

The Rockets just don’t have anyone to silence Howard, who has proven he can inflict damage without Yao. Howard should have a field day in the paint against the Rockets. I’m taking Orlando minus the points.

              FoxSheets says:

              Play On - Road favorites (ORLANDO) - average defensive team (43.5-45.5%) against a poor defensive team (45.5-47.5%), good ball handling team (<=14.5 TO's) against a poor pressure defense (<=14.5 TO's) after 42+ games. (140-87 since 1996.) (61.7%, +44.3 units. Rating = 2*).

Spurs and Hornets both look to extend long win streaks Saturday

                SAN ANTONIO SPURS (37-6)

                at NEW ORLEANS HORNETS (28-16)

                Tip-off: Saturday, 8:00 p.m. EDT
Line: San Antonio -2.5, Total: 186.5

Two teams riding the longest winning streaks in the NBA meet on Saturday in New Orleans. San Antonio has eight straight wins (4-3-1 ATS) while New Orleans has been victorious in its past seven games (5-2 ATS). Both teams are coming off Friday night victories and both have fared well with zero days rest, as the Spurs are 5-2 ATS and the Hornets are 5-3-1 ATS.

After having to come back from at least 12 points in three of four games, the Hornets had an easy win in Atlanta on Friday, crushing the Hawks 100-59. They held Atlanta to 29.1% FG and dominated the glass with a 60-39 rebounding advantage. New Orleans now leads the NBA in scoring defense (91.4 PPG), and has limited its opponents to just 86.3 PPG on 40.7% FG during its seven-game winning streak, which marks its longest run since an 8-0 start to the season. The Hornets should be well-rested considering no player logged more than 30 minutes in Friday’s blowout win. Chris Paul had a game-high 16 points and eight assists. David West (19.0 PPG, 7.3 RPG) scored 15 points with eight rebounds against Atlanta and is averaging 22.4 PPG and 9.2 RPG over his past five contests. Emeka Okafor only had four points in 24 minutes on Friday, but he grabbed 12 rebounds for his ninth straight 10-rebound game (12.7 RPG in this span).

The Spurs knocked off New York 101-92 on Friday night to cap a perfect 4-0 homestand. San Antonio scored 100+ points in all four games (104.0 PPG) and held its opponents to 93.3 PPG on 41.8% FG, including 37.8% FG for the high-scoring Knicks. Tim Duncan had 21 points, 16 rebounds and five blocks against New York while DeJuan Blair posted his third double-double in four games with 18 points and 13 rebounds.

These teams have met three times this season already, with New Orleans winning the first meeting in San Antonio, 99-90 on Oct. 30. The Spurs haven taken the last two games rather easily, winning 109-95 at New Orleans on Nov. 28 and pounding the Hornets 109-84 on Dec. 5 at AT&T Center. In that last meeting, San Antonio led 68-41 at the half and connected on 59% FG and 11-of-22 three-pointers. The 59% FG shooting was the highest percentage allowed by the Hornets this season.

These are two of the better ATS teams in the NBA as the Spurs have been a winning bet 61% of their games (25-16) and the Hornets have paid off 57% of the time (24-18). However, New Orleans is just 12-10 ATS at home and the Spurs are 11-5 ATS on the road. But in terms of favorites/underdogs, San Antonio is just 5-4-1 ATS as a road favorite this season and the Hornets are 14-4-2 ATS (78%) as an underdog, including 3-1 ATS as a home dog. This FoxSheets trend also shows why New Orleans should cover at home.

Play On - Home underdogs (NEW ORLEANS) - in a game involving two average defensive teams (43.5-45.5%), good ball handling team (<=14.5 TO's) against a poor pressure defensive team (<=14.5 TO's). (115-67 since 1996.) (63.2%, +41.3 units. Rating = 2*).

The Spurs have limited their opponents to less than 44% shooting in all eight games of their current win streak, and thus have played in eight straight games finishing Under the total. This FoxSheets trend on the Hornets also expects this game to finish Under the total.

NEW ORLEANS is 15-1 UNDER (+13.9 Units) after failing to cover 2 of their last 3 against the spread this season. The average score was NEW ORLEANS 89.1, OPPONENT 86.8 - (Rating = 5*).

Jazz look to beat 76ers for seventh straight time

                  UTAH JAZZ (27-16)

                  at PHILADELPHIA 76ERS (17-25)

                  Tip-off: Saturday, 7:30 p.m. EDT
                  Line: Philadelphia -2, Total: 198.5

The Jazz hope to continue their dominance over the 76ers when the two teams meet on Saturday night. Utah has won six straight meetings and is 21-5 (17-8 ATS), including 10-3 (9-4 ATS) in Philadelphia since 1996. Both teams are trying to put a stop to current losing streaks as Utah is 0-3 on its current five-game road trip while Philly is returning home after an 0-2 road trip.

The 76ers have the best ATS record in the NBA at 26-15 (63%), and are also winning 63% (12-7) of their home games both SU and ATS. The percentage jumps even higher when Philly is an underdog (67%, 20-10 ATS), and increases even more as a home underdog (78%, 7-2 ATS). The reason for this success is a downright stingy defense, allowing a mere 88.7 PPG in these nine games as a home dog.

On the other hand, Utah is 2-9 ATS (5-6 SU) in its past 11 games because it hasn’t been able to stop anybody from scoring, allowing 104.8 PPG in these 11 contests. The Jazz have played to five straight Overs because they allowed each of the five opponents to shoot at least 49% from the floor.

The key for Utah will be whether or not Deron Williams can recover from a season-low five points in Friday’s 110-86 loss to Boston. Considering Williams has lit up the 76ers with 27.0 PPG on 66% FG (8-for-10 on threes) in the past two meetings, he should be just fine. Al Jefferson had been scoring 23.0 PPG in two games before scoring a mere seven points on 1-11 FG against the Celtics. Jefferson has averaged 11.3 PPG and 7.5 RPG in seven career games in Philadelphia. The 76ers have been led by Elton Brand who posted his team-high 16th double-double (12 pts, 10 reb) in Thursday’s 100-97 loss to Charlotte. Thaddeus Young could be the X-factor in this one after coming off the bench to score 21 against the Bobcats. Young has averaged 18.0 PPG on 61.5% FG in his past three meetings with the Jazz.

The 76ers are dangerous to bet against and this highly-rated FoxSheets trend also shows why Philadelphia should break its losing streak to Utah and win at home.

Play Against - Road underdogs (UTAH) - after failing to cover 4 of their last 5 against the spread, good team, winning 60-75% or more of their games on the season. (58-25 over the last 5 seasons.) (69.9%, +30.5 units. Rating = 3*).

Knicks try to halt 5-game losing skid

                    NEW YORK KNICKS (22-20)

                    at OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER (27-15)

                    Tip-off: Saturday, 8:00 p.m. EDT
Line: Oklahoma City -6.5, Total: 221.5

The New York Knicks finish their three-game road swing in Oklahoma City on Saturday, looking to end a five-game losing streak in a game that features the top two scorers in the NBA. The Thunder will be looking for revenge, having lost to the Knicks 112-98 earlier this season in New York.

The Knicks seem to have fallen back to their familiar ways of seasons past recently. New York enters Oklahoma City losers of five straight and six of their last seven. The Knicks have fared well ATS this season with a record of 25-15-2, but pushed on Friday after having lost three straight ATS. After starting the season 3-2 ATS on the road, the Knicks then won 13 of 16. They failed to cover against the Rockets on Wednesday, and lost by nine Friday at San Antonio when the spread was nine points. For most of the season, the Knicks could rely on their scoring to be a consistent factor in the outcome of their games. However, their offense has been very inconsistent lately. In their 10-point loss to the Kings on January 14, the Knicks shot a season-worst 31.5 percent from the field and their 83 points was their second lowest total of the season. In their two losses on this road trip, they have averaged 90.5 PPG while shooting 39.8 percent from the field. This was also the first time this season the Knicks recorded consecutive games scoring 92 points or less. Coach Mike D’Antoni decided to start Ronny Turiaf over Wilson Chandler on Friday in order to inject some life into the Knicks sputtering offense. This marked the first time since November 27 that Chandler came off the bench. The results were not positive, as Chandler suffered through his third poor performance over his past four games, scoring a season-low six points on 3-of-10 shooting from the field. Outside of scoring 23 points in the Knicks loss to the Suns on Monday, Chandler has averaged 8.3 PPG on 29.7% FG in their losses to the Kings, Rockets and Spurs. Amar’e Stoudemire had his streak of 20-point games snapped at 26 on Friday night, when he was held to 18 points on 8-of-25 shooting from the field. Stoudemire scored a team-high 23 points and Chandler scored 21 points in the Knicks 14-point victory over the Thunder on December 22 at Madison Square Garden.

After starting the season 19-8, the Thunder have slowed down a bit, going 8-7 since. They enter Saturday having lost two straight, both coming on the road, against the Lakers and Nuggets. Oklahoma City has done well ATS this season posting a 22-19 record, which includes going 12-8 at home. If you want to know how the Thunder did ATS this season, chances are all you need to do is look how they fared SU. The last time the Thunder’s SU and ATS result was different was December 5. Their last 21 games have seen them post the same result SU as they have ATS. Looking at their season overall, only five times has their ATS result differed from their SU result. After averaging 35.5 PPG on 58.8% FG in his previous four games, Kevin Durant has averaged just 23.0 PPG on 33.3% FG, including going 1-for-9 from three-point range in his past two games. Durant has averaged 34.7 PPG on 58.5 percent shooting over his past six home games. Russell Westbrook has been outstanding over his past three games, averaging 30.7 PPG and 11.7 APG in posting three straight double-doubles and one triple-double on January 13 at Orlando.

This is the second meeting between Durant, who leads the NBA at 28.2 PPG, and Stoudemire who is second in the NBA at 26.2 PPG. The Knicks’ win earlier this season snapped a three-game losing streak against the Thunder, who had won six of their previous seven meetings, dating back to their time in Seattle. New York is winless in two trips to Oklahoma City. The Knicks need to start to get serious again if they want to improve their playoff position in the East where they currently sit in sixth place, 5½ games out of a potential home court first-round advantage. The Thunder have revenge on their mind and should get it Saturday against the reeling Knicks who will have to wait before they get their season back on track. I’m taking Oklahoma City minus the points.

                    FoxSheets says:

OKLAHOMA CITY is 35-14 ATS (71.4%, +19.6 Units) after 1 or more consecutive losses over the last 2 seasons. The average score was OKLAHOMA CITY 103.1, OPPONENT 97.6 - (Rating = 3*).

This four-star FoxSheets trend expects the game to finish Under the total:

Play Under - All teams where the total is greater than or equal to 210 (NEW YORK) - after being beaten by the spread by 30 or more points total in their last five games, with a winning percentage of between 45-55% on the season. (47-14 since 1996.) (77%, +31.6 units. Rating = 4*).
