                  Sunday's six-pack

Some trends for Week 14 of the NFL season

-- Buffalo covered three of its last ten as a home favorite.

-- Steelers covered six of last eight against the Bengals.

-- Redskins are 5-13-2 vs spread in last 20 home games.

-- Vikings covered seven of last ten home games.

-- Packers are 6-2 as a road favorite in divisional games.

-- Chiefs are 8-3 as an underdog in divisional games.

                  **************************

Sunday's List of 13: Wrapping up a sports Saturday..........

                  13) Cam Newton was left off 106 of the 886 ballots that were submitted for the Heisman Trophy balloting. 93% of people who named him had him as the #1 guy. Not voting for the kid makes you look stupid, mean or something worse than stupid and mean.

                  12) So much for reading Internet speculation on coaching changes; the Florida Gators named Texas defensive coordinator Will Muschamp as their new head coach. Saw over a dozen names speculated on to replace Urban Meyer, but never saw Muschamp's name once.

                  11) Muschamp is the fourth Texas assistant coach to leave the program this week. Mack Brown now has to replace both coordinators.

                  10) They put 113,411 fans into the Big House in Ann Arbor Saturday for college hockey game between the Wolverines and Michigan State.

                  9) Chiefs' QB Matt Cassel played first base in the 1994 Little League World Series; he has a brother Jack who pitched in the major leagues.

                  8) Kentucky QB Hartline was busted for public drunkenness and is out for the Wildcats' bowl game against Pitt.

                  7) Fordham upset St John's 84-81, after trailing by 20 points in the first half. Horrendous loss for the Red Storm; it'll haunt them on Selection Sunday, if they win enough to become a bubble team. Losing to Fordham and St Bonaventure in same week is no way for a Big East team to act.

                  6) Speaking of bubble teams, North Carolina beat Long Beach State by 5, after leading by 14 at the half. Tar Heels could be bubblicious in March; they've shown nothing that indicates a return to elite status.

                  5) Gonzaga and Butler are now both looking at having to win conference tournaments to get into the Field of 68. Gonzaga is way overscheduled. Will be interesting to see how they handle the WCC schedule.

                  4) Inclement weather in Minnesota prevented the Giants' plane from going there, so the team wound up in Kansas City, where they're going to stay Saturday night. Game is now scheduled Monday night, because the Metrodome roof is leaking and its not safe for workers to remove the snow off the stadium roof because of high winds.

                  3) I guess its at least a little ironic that if Minnesota had a stadium with no roof, then the game would've been played Sunday, in dismal weather, but the threat of the roof collapsing under the weight of the snow made the decision to cancel a no-brainer.

                  2) Bad news is that ESPN will still show Ravens-Texans Monday, while Giant-Viking game will be shown on FOX Sports, but only in NY and Twin Cities metro areas. That means my 84-year old dad, who loves the Giants, can't watch the game. Thanks again, NFL.

                  1) I'm disappointed Cam Newton's father wasn't at the Heisman awards show; the guy isn't a criminal, he should have been there. That said, I'm hoping Cecil doesn't try to sell the Heisman in the subway tonight.
