Honestly, Cal is a team built for 2012. It is a roster littered with talented freshman, but they are freshman.
Kahwi Leonard is not a freshman, and by the end of this season, he will be a first round NBA pick. In college hoops, I like to let it ride on the best player on the court, particularly when the other side has no apparent answer for him.
SDSU has already played three teams that are significantly better than Cal, and they won all three. They have a stronger front court, and with DJ Gay, a much stronger presence in the back court than the Bears, and if it weren't for the fact that nobody can remember a time when SDSU beat Cal in any major sport, this line would be more like -11 or -12 like it should be.
Sometimes small conference schools gain a ranking early in the season simply by playing winnable games. That is not the case here, as SDSU will be a top 20 team all season long. The motivation amongst this much more seasoned squad to get a big, long-awaited win against a Pac10 school is huge, and I think this will be a blowout.
