                Sunday's six-pack

                NFL trends for Week 11.........
-- Ravens covered seven of last ten as a double digit favorite.

-- Jacksonville covered two of their last 14 games as a favorite.

-- Cowboys covered one of last six as a home favorite.

-- Colts are 18-8-1 vs spread in their last 27 road games.

-- Rams covered six of last seven games as the underdog.

-- Buffalo covered 11 of its last 15 road games.

                ************************************************** *******

Sunday's List of 13: Wrapping up a college football Saturday

                13) Nebraska is bolting the Big 12 for the Big 11 next year, officials in the Big 12 gave the Cornhuskers a going-away present Saturday night, giving Nebraska 16 penalties for 145 yards, Texas A&M 2 for 10 in the Aggies' 9-6 win. Long night for Nebraska coach Bo Pelini.

                12) Strange scenario for Longhorns-Aggies rivalry game next weekend; Longhorns will need to win to get to 6-6 and be bowl-eligible. Aggies might be playing for the Big 12 South championship. Who would have thought it after their 30-9 home loss to Missouri last month? Everyone had Mike Sherman getting fired. Good for him.

                11) CBS should televise every LSU game; Tigers' 43-36 win was latest in long time of LSU thrillers carried by the network. Jordan Jefferson had strong game at QB; he's taken his share of abuse for poor play this year and last, so good to see him enjoying his success.

                10) Indiana got $3 million to move its home game with Penn State to the Washington DC suburbs; its the #1 sign your program sucks when you do that. Hoosiers were 24-all with Penn State, before giving up a TD on a blocked punt which swuing game in favor of the Nittany Lions.

Just a crazy thought: maybe the punt team would've blocked better if they had friends/family in the stands rooting for them. Indiana damn near beat Iowa at home a couple weeks ago, they're not horrible, but they got sold out by their athletic department. Well done, bureaucrats.

                9) Oregon State lost to woeful Washington State last week, so of course they crushed USC 36-7 last night. Trojan QB Barkley sprained an ankle as USC lost in Corvallis for the straight third time.

                8) Good for Cody Hawkins; Colorado's QB was 15-26/225 passing in a 44-36 win over Kansas State on his Senior Day. Kid didn't have the best college career; he went to play for his dad, wound up getting benched, then dad wound up getting fired this year. Now young Hawkins is back as starter and if the Buffs upset Nebraska next week (not likely), they go bowling. Good job by interim coach Brian Cabral, by the way.

                7) Speaking of which, there are 35 bowl games this year. Seeing as there are only 120 I-A football teams, that means 58.3% of all college football teams will go to a bowl this year. Chances are pretty good there won't be 70 teams that finish either .500 or above .500. Whats the psychology of a 5-7 bowl team going to be? It'll be uncharted territory.

                6) How bad is Michigan's defense? Wolverines gave up 357 yards on the ground to Wisconsin; the Badgers were also 14-15/201 passing. Not a lot of resistence came from the Maize/Blue defense.

                5) Very gutty win for Utah late Saturday night, rallying from early 27-10 deficit to slip past San Diego State 38-34. Looks like the Aztecs could be playing their bowl game at home (Poinsettia Bowl).

                4) Three weeks ago, Tennessee was 2-6 in Derek Dooley's first season as coach; now they're 5-6, will get to minor bowl if they beat Kentucky in their regular season finale. The main attraction for teams going to these lower-level bowl games are the extra practices that come beforehand. Helps in developing players for the future.

                3) If Boise State doesn't play for the national title, I'm demanding that they play the Big East champ in a bowl game, just so they can beat the tar out of them by four TDs and show how sub-par the Big East is.

                2) Helping Boise's chances with the BCS is Virginia Tech winning nine games in a row since starting the season 0-2; Hokies went south and got an important 31-17 win at Miami for their ninth straight win.

                1) Illinois-Northwestern game was just weird; Illini had a ridiculous 519 rushing yards in their 48-27 win at Wrigley Field. Wildcats scored a TD into the forbidden end zone on an INT. Both schools probably made lot of money, everybody seemed to have fun, but how stupid that they did not put the field the way it was when the Bears played there in the 60's?
