Bengals try to end 4-game slide hosting Pittsburgh

      PITTSBURGH STEELERS (5-2)
      at CINCINNATI BENGALS (2-5)

Kickoff: Monday, 8:30 p.m. EDT, Line: Pittsburgh -6, Total: 41

The Bengals try to break a four-game losing streak (SU and ATS) when they host division rival Pittsburgh on Monday night. Cincinnati has lost all four games by eight points or less. The Steelers will play their third straight road game, with the controversial win two weeks ago at Miami followed by last week’s loss to New Orleans. The Bengals might not be the same team they were last year, but they had tallied eight straight wins against AFC North rivals before Cleveland beat them in Week 4. Cincy has dropped three of four SU and ATS at home this season.

Cincinnati has some significant injury news on the defensive side of the ball. CB Johnathan Joseph (ankle) and strong safeties Roy Williams (knee) and Chinedum Ndukwe (knee) are all expected to play Monday night. They will all be needed since the Bengals are heavily depleted on their defensive line. DE Antwan Odom (suspension), DT Tank Johnson (knee) and DE Jonathan Fanene (hamstring) will all be inactive for Monday’s game, which will allow Ben Roethlisberger to sit back in the pocket and pick his spots. Roethlisberger is 8-4 against the Bengals in his career with 16 TD and 13 INT. Cincinnati is also susceptible to the run, allowing 121 rushing YPG this year, so RB Rashard Mendenhall could also have a strong performance.

On the other side of the ball, QB Carson Palmer and his receivers will need a big game to keep Cincy in this one. Palmer has 14 TD and just 7 INT in 10 career games against Pittsburgh. The Bengals won’t likely have much success in their ground game considering the Steelers boast the best rushing defense in the NFL. They are allowing a meager 59 rush YPG this year.

Although the Bengals swept the season series last year, Pittsburgh is a whopping 14-5 ATS at Cincinnati since 1992. This four-star FoxSheets trend shows why Pittsburgh is the pick.

Play On - Road teams (PITTSBURGH) - off a road loss, in November games. (40-11 over the last 5 seasons.) (78.4%, +27.9 units. Rating = 4*).

And this FoxSheets trend leans towards the Over:

Play Over - Road teams against the total (PITTSBURGH) - after allowing 3 points or less in the first half last game against opponent after scoring 14 points or less last game. (104-51 over the last 10 seasons.) (67.1%, +47.9 units. Rating = 3*).

Rondo leads 6-1 Celtics into Dallas

        BOSTON CELTICS (6-1)

        at DALLAS MAVERICKS (3-2)

        Tip-off: Monday, 8:30 p.m. EDT
        Line: Dallas -3.5, Total: 190.5

Boston heads to the Lone Star State to take on the Mavericks after rolling over the Thunder 92-83 Sunday night in its first of four consecutive road games. Rajon Rondo had his fourth double-double for the season shooting 5-of-8 from the floor for 10 points and dishing 10 assists. Monday night’s point-guard matchup will be one for the ages as 24-year-old Rondo, who leads the league with 14.7 assists per game, takes on NBA veteran Jason Kidd, who is second all-time in total assists. The Celtics’ depth will make them difficult to defend if their shooting off the bench is reminiscent of Sunday night when they went 13-for-23 for 33 points.

The Mavericks play back-to-back at home following a 103-92 loss to Denver, after beating the Nuggets on the road three days prior. Despite shooting 44.7% from the field and outrebounding Denver by eight in its loss, Dallas had nearly twice as many turnovers (21) and allowed Denver to shoot 13-of-21 (61.9%) from behind the arc. Only four Mavericks scored double digits, and Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Terry accounted for a combined 49 points shooting 17-of-32 from the floor. Dallas will need points from other players if it has any chance to beat Boston, especially if the Cetlics’ bench shoots as well as it did against Oklahoma City.

In the last three seasons, Boston is 3-1 (straight up and ATS) against Dallas overall and 2-0 (SU and ATS) at Dallas. The Mavericks are off to another weak start at home going 1-2 (SU and ATS) after finishing last year with a pathetic 12-30-2 (28.6%) ATS. Although Dallas is favored to win, the Celtics look probable to cover the spread and give the Mavericks their second consecutive loss at home.

This FoxSheets stat favor Boston to cover the spread:

DALLAS is 12-32 ATS (27.3%, -22.2 Units) as a home favorite over the last 2 seasons. The average score was DALLAS 101.4, OPPONENT 98.9 - (Rating = 2*).
