    Friday's six-pack

College football trends, with Week 7 sneaking up on us..........

-- Iowa covered seven of last eight games against Wisconsin.
-- Virginia Tech covered 14 of last 20 as an ACC favorite.

-- Underdog is 6-2 vs spread with four outright upsets in Pitt-Rutgers series.

-- West Virginia covered seven of last nine against Syracuse.

-- Vanderbilt is 7-15 in last 22 games as a home underdog.

-- Houston Nutt covered last seven games as true road underdog.

Friday's List of 13: Things I'm looking for this weekend.....

    13) By the end of the weekend we’ll know the matchup for this year’s World Series; Giants haven’t won one since 1954, Rangers have never even been in one, so if they met, it would be pretty interesting, as opposed to a Bronx-Philly matchup, which happened last year.

    12) Winner of the South Carolina-Vanderbilt game Saturday will lead the SEC East, a sure signal that the SEC East is way down this year.

    11) This time last year, the Denver Broncos were 6-0 and flying high; since then, they’re 4-12; they need to beat the Raiders at home this week, but Oakland won its last two visits to Invesco Field.

    10) Houston Nutt goes back to Arkansas this week; Razorbacks had a good run under his watch, but things didn’t end well there. Not sure if Mallett will play QB for Hogs or not.

    9) Will Bears’ OL be any better at picking up blitzes than they were against Seahawks last week? They better be.

    8) Oklahoma takes its #1 ranking to Missouri; Sooners only won by two points at Cincinnati-- how are they ranked #1? Boise State and TCU are both better than they are.

    7) Seahawks-Cardinals are playing for first place in NFC West; Cardinal rookie Hall makes his first NFL road start.

    6) Nebraska has to be really disappointed by home loss to Texas, now they visit unbeaten Oklahoma State and their explosive passing game. This might be the most interesting college game this weekend.

    5) Home team is 6-0 in Charger games, 0-5 in Miami games; will those two streaks continue this weekend?

    4) Kentucky Wildcats split a pair of wild home games the last two Saturdays, now resurgent Georgia comes to town; big game for bowl positioning on both sides.

    3) Its fourth weekend in October, and Dallas still hasn’t won a home game. Cowboys are 1-4, and hosting a Giant squad thats beaten them in four of last five meetings. They really, really need this game.

    2) Les Miles takes his unbeaten LSU Tigers to play unbeaten Auburn, where dual-threat QB Newton has been running amok. Auburn gave up 77 points the last two weeks, but won both games. Big game for first place in SEC West. Does Miles have another upset in his hat?

    1) Favre Bowl III is Sunday night; Packers seem to be getting some of their banged-up guys back. NFC North is wide open, but loser here will be in rough shape as the seasons heads towards the halfway mark.
