UCLA Bruins at Oregon Ducks [ESPN | 8:00 PM ET]

BRUINS: UCLA has been either really good or really bad, with little in between. The Bruins are coming off arguably their worst game of the season, a 7-35 loss to California. The Bruins are coming off a much needed bye week, so one can expect to see a far better performance from them tonight in front of a national audience. Tonight's game against Oregon will be the 4th time the Bruins have faced a ranked team. Thus far, UCLA is 2-1 SU and ATS against those ranked schools, with both of their SU wins coming as the listed underdog. The Bruins have struggled with the Ducks of late, losing 7 of the past 9 meetings SU. With injury concerns at several positions, including QB, UCLA is likely to lean on RB Johnathan Franklin tonight. Franklin is 2nd in the Pac-10 with 113 rushing YPG this season. The Bruins have given up more than 30 PTS in 2 of their 3 road games this season, and now they are facing the best offense in all of college football. The Bruins are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games as an underdog of more than 10 points. UCLA is 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games after scoring less than 20 points in their previous game. The Bruins are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games as a road underdog. UCLA is 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games played in October. The Bruins are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a bye week.

Bruins are 23-10 ATS in their last 33 games following a S.U. loss.
Under is 7-1 in Bruins last 8 games following a bye week.

Key Injuries - QB Kevin Prince (knee) is probable.

            Projected Score: 17

DUCKS: (-24, O/U 61.5) It's a historic day for Oregon, as they will play their first game since being named the #1 team in the polls. The Ducks have been dominant all year long, thanks to the most prolific offense in the nation. Oregon is averaging 54.3 PPG and 567 YPG this season, both ranked #1 in the country. RB LaMichael James is becoming quite the Heisman Trophy candidate, as he leads the nation with nearly 170 rushing YPG and 9 TD's this season. QB Darron Thomas has been tremendous in leading an offense that has scored at least 40 PTS in every game this season. Thomas has combined for nearly 1,500 total through the air and on the ground in 5 games this season, including 16 TD's. Defensively, Oregon has struggled a bit of late, yet are only allowing 16.3 PPG for the season. The Ducks are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games in October. Oregon is 8-2 ATS in their last 10 home games overall. The Ducks are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games as a home favorite. The Ducks are 19-7 ATS in their last 26 games as a home favorite of more than 10 points. Oregon is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 conference games overall. The Ducks are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 Thursday games.

Ducks are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games following a bye week.
Over is 8-1 in Ducks last 9 conference games.

Key Injuries - DB Kenjon Barner (concussion) is questionable.

Projected Score: 38 (UNDER-Total of the Day)

            Thursday, October 21

            UCLA at Oregon (-24.5, 61.5)

Oregon puts its new No. 1 ranking on the line Thursday against UCLA in a place it rarely loses – Autzen Stadium.

The Ducks (6-0, 3-0) have won 10 straight in Eugene and seven of nine overall against the Bruins (3-3, 1-2 Pac-10), who arrive with a major injury concern with their starting quarterback.

It seemed doubtful Bruin sophomore Kevin Prince (knee) would be able to play on Wednesday, meaning sophomore Richard Brehaut would make his second career start in one of the toughest environments in college football. In his only other start, Brehaut completed 12 of 23 passes for 128 yards in the Bruins’ 42-28 win over Washington State on Oct. 2

Oregon saw its starting quarterback Darron Thomas leave in its last game against Washington State with a shoulder injury. But Thomas reportedly showed no signs of the shoulder giving him problems at practice this week and is expected to start.

Unlike the Bruins, the Ducks do have a seasoned backup in senior Nate Costa. He played well after taking over for Thomas against Washington State, completing 13 of 15 passes for 151 yards and a touchdown.

Also unlike the Bruins, Oregon’s quarterback will be surrounded by a bevy of offensive weapons, most notably running back LaMichael James. The Ducks lead the nation in total offense and are third in rushing offense, with James averaging 167 yards per game. UCLA’s rush defense is ranked 92nd in the nation and is surrendering an average of 182 yards on the ground.

Clearly, Oregon is the much more explosive of the two teams; hence, the 24.5 point spread.

UCLA has shown the ability to raise its game to a high level, though. The Bruins convincing win at Texas is proof. But the Bruins also are inconsistent, as their 35-7 loss at Cal two weeks ago proves.

Both teams are coming off a bye. Oregon is at USC next week.

            THE LINE

The line has seen a lot of movement since it opened at Oregon -21.5 on Sunday.

Early money dropped the number to -20.5, but the Prince injury situation appears to have made the Ducks a more popular bet. The Ducks were laying as much as 24.5 as of Wednesday.

The Bruins are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games as an underdog of 10.5 points or greater and are 23-10 ATS after a straight-up loss.

The Ducks are 20-8 in their last 28 games as a favorite of 10.5 points or greater.

            THE TOTAL

The total opened at 60.5 and was up to 61.5 at most outlets on Wednesday.

A 60 percent chance of rain is forecast for Thursday night in Eugene.

Oregon is averaging 54.33 points per game and allowing 16.33 points per game. UCLA is averaging 22.67 points per game and allowing 25.67.

The Ducks beat the Bruins 24-10 last season in Los Angeles. In their last four meetings, the teams have combined to score an average of 38.75 points.

The under is 7-1 in Bruins last eight games following a bye week. The under is 21-5-1 in UCLA’s last 27 conference games.

The over is 8-1 Oregon’s last nine conference games.

            INJURY REPORT

            Neither team is healthy.

Three starters from the Oregon defense—corner Anthony Gildon, end Terrell Turner and Zac Clark--are listed as doubtful. Running back and kick returner Kenjon Barner, who was carted off the field during the Oct. 9 Washington State game, isn’t expected to play either.

UCLA is waiting news of a reported second MRI on Prince’s knee. Chances seem to diminishing that Prince will be able to play. Chris Foster of The Los Angeles Times tweeted Wednesday that “if the decision is put into the hands of the UCLA medical staff, [Prince] will not play.”

The Bruins also suspended top return man Josh Smith and tight end Morrell Presley for violating team rules.

            BATTLE IN THE TRENCHES

UCLA has recorded 18 sacks this season, second most behind Oregon in the Pac-10. But Oregon, with its quick-hitting offensive scheme, has allowed only two sacks all season.

South Florida Bulls at Cincinnati Bearcats (-7.5, 48)

Nippert Stadium takes center stage when the Cincinnati Bearcats play hosts to the South Florida Bulls Friday night.

The Bearcats are coming off a decent three-game stretch that included two wins and a near upset of Oklahoma. The Bulls are going in the opposite direction, on a two game losing streak which saw them score just a total of 15 points combined.

                Why South Florida will cover

All the talk heading into Friday night is about how bad the South Florida offense is. Much was expected from the arrival of Skip Holtz and of sophomore quarterback B.J. Daniels, but things haven’t worked out as planned. The Bulls failed to score a single touchdown in their first two Big East contests and Daniels already has 10 interceptions.

However, keep in mind that those last two games were against an underrated Syracuse team and No. 19 West Virginia. Their defenses rank 18th and fifth respectively in yards allowed. This week, the Bulls play a much weaker defense and offensive coordinator Todd Fitch has been working with Daniels all week to correct his mistakes,

“If you're talking about him, it's a couple different areas,” Fitch told reporters. “It's seeing the field, seeing whatever the read may be. And a lot of his turnovers have occurred when he's on the scramble.”

“If we blow protection, which is going to happen over a course of a game, step up, use your feet and if it's not there then throw it away, get positive yards,” he said.

Just before the half in the WVU game, the Bulls were only down by seven points and in Mountaineer territory until Daniels threw an interception in the red zone.

There should be improvement this week from Daniels and it doesn’t hurt that they will be up against a pass defense that ranks 104th in the nation. Combine that with a USF defense that held Noel Devine to just 29 yards rushing and you have a good chance to cover the 7.5 points.

                Why Cincinnati will cover

This is a confident team. After missing out on a chance to upset Oklahoma, the Bearcats could have easily overlooked their next two opponents, Miami (Ohio) and Louisville. Instead, they carried the momentum from the Sooner game and not only won straight up, but covered the spread in both contests as well.

Quarterback Zach Collaros was been solid all season with 1,455 yards and 17 touchdown passes, but the key on offense has been the return of running back Isaiah Pead. In the last three games, Pead has rushed for an average of 170.3 yards which has kept opposing defenses honest.

History is also on the side of the Bearcats. Cincinnati has won the last four contests in this series and they remain undefeated at home against USF. From a betting standpoint, it gets even better with Cincinnati on a six-game ATS streak against the Bulls.

                Line and trends

The line opened up at -8.5 in favor of the home team and has since moved down to -7.5. With consensus opinion on the Bearcats, this suggests that some sharp early money came in on South Florida.

The total opened up at 47 and has seen slight movement up to 48. With offensive problems and a solid defense, the under has hit in the last four USF games. However Cincinnati has hit the over four times in its last five Friday night games.

Partly-cloudy skies are expected with lows in the 40s. South winds will be coming in at 5 to 10 mph.

South Florida Bulls at Cincinnati Bearcats [ESPN | 7:00 PM ET]

BULLS: South Florida stands at 3-3 SU and 2-4 ATS overall this season. The Bulls have lost their past 2 games, and are in deep danger of losing a 3rd consecutive game. This South Florida team is really struggling offensively, as they've scored single digits in each of their past 2 games. As a result of their offensive struggles, South Florida has played to the under rather easily in each of the past 4 games. Coach Holtz must be scratching his head, because the talent is most certainly there. QB B.J. Daniels has all the physical tools to be great, but he appears to be struggling with the new system implemented with the coaching change. Daniels has only thrown for 803 YDS this season, and has 10 INT's to only 4 TD's this year. Overall, South Florida is averaging 23.8 PPG, 79th best in the nation. The good news for the Bulls is their defense, as they continue to be a hard hitting, intimidating bunch. The Bulls are only allowing 16.7 PPG, 18th best in the country. Against Cincinnati, this South Florida defense is going to have to play their best game of the season for them to have any chance of pulling the upset on the road. The Bulls are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games played in October. South Florida is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 conference games.

Bulls are 1-4 ATS last 5 games as a road underdog.
Under is 4-0 last 4 games overall.

Key Injuries - WR Sterling Griffin (ankle) is questionable.

                  Projected Score: 24

BEARCATS: (-7.5, O/U 48) Very quietly, Cincinnati is starting to hit their stride. The Bearcats have won their past 2 games, and prior to that were very close to beating BCS top ranked Oklahoma. Cincinnati has produced 80 PTS over their past 2 contests combined, playing like the team they have grown accustomed to being. QB Zach Collaros might be the best QB you've never heard of, as he is putting up video game type numbers this year. Collaros has thrown for 1,455 YDS this season, along with 19 TD's overall. Collaros has had at least 3 TD's in every game this season save for the season opener. Cincinnati still needs to improve defensively, as they are allowing 21 PPG, 40th in the nation. The Bearcats have yet to lose a home game this season from an ATS standpoint against FBS competition. The Bearcats are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games played in October. Cincinnati is 20-7-2 ATS in their last 29 games following an ATS win. The Bearcats are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games as the listed favorite.

Bearcats are 9-4 ATS last 13 conference games.
Over is 4-1 last 5 games following a SU win.

Key Injuries - WR D.J. Woods (knee) is probable.

Projected Score: 31 (OVER-Total of the Day)

LSU Tigers at Auburn Tigers [CBS | 3:30 PM ET]

                      L. TIGERS: With a hard earned win today, LSU could be the only team left in the SEC undefeated. Prior to the season beginning, one can only imagine the odds you would have been looking at. LSU continues their improbable run this season, as they face arguably their toughest test of the season. LSU is 7-0 SU and 3-4 ATS overall this season, placing them 6th in the national polls. The Tigers will be the listed underdog for only the 2nd time this season, the last time ending in an outright win on the road at Florida. Coach Miles have been criticized constantly this year, but nobody can take away their results to date. Despite a one dimensional offense that is only producing 26.7 PPG, they are still undefeated. QB Jordan Jefferson has had problems this year, which has forced LSU to stick to the running game for success. RB Stevan Ridely has rushed for a team high 686 YDS this season, including 6 TD's. Without question, defense rules the day for LSU. Behind one of the fastest and most aggressive defenses in the nation, LSU is only allowing 14.4 PPG this year. Only 2 opponents have scored more than 14 PTS against the Tigers this season. The Tigers are 13-5-1 ATS in their last 19 games as an underdog between 3.5 and 10 points. The Tigers are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games following a SU win of more than 20 points.

LSU is 4-1 ATS last 5 games as a road underdog.
Under is 9-2 last 11 games following a ATS loss.

                      A. TIGERS: (-6, O/U 52) Auburn is certainly hoping revenge will be sweet, as they look to beat LSU for the first time in 4 attempts. Auburn is undefeated and ranked 4th in the nation, thanks to a 7-0 SU record. The Tigers are 4-3 ATS this season, as they've been the listed favorite in each game they've played. The Tigers are led by QB Cam Newton, on the short list as a Heisman candidate. Newton is a duel threat QB, who has combined for more than 2,000 total yards this year, along with 25 TD's. Newton leads the SEC in rushing at 123 rushing YPG this season. Behind Newton, Auburn is averaging 283.7 rushing YPG, 6th best in the nation. The Tigers scored a season high 65 PTS in their last game, and are averaging more than 40 PPG for the year. Auburn has allowed 24 PTS or more in 5 of their 7 contests this year, a stat that much change if they are to challenge for a BCS championship berth. The Tigers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 conference games. Auburn is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games against a team with a winning road record. The Tigers are 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game. Auburn is 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games following an ATS win.

Oklahoma Sooners at Missouri Tigers [ABC | 8:00 PM ET]

SOONERS: (-3, O/U 52.5) Oklahoma is the #1 team in the first BCS standings released for this season. Whether it's suprising or not is up to you, but Oklahoma has several key tests to pass before they are playing in the BCS championship game. The Sooners will be playing only their 2nd road game of the season today. Oklahoma barely beat Cincinnati in their only other road game, winning 31-29 SU as 14 point underdogs. Today represents the shortest line the Sooners have faced this season, and only the 3rd time they are just a single digit favorite. The Sooners have an elite offense that is averaging 36 PPG, 17th best in the nation. QB Landry Jones is a dynamic talent, and he's thrown for nearly 1,800 YDS and 14 TD's this season. RB DeMarco Murray is a bruising runner who has rushed for 663 YDS this season and has 12 TD's overall this year. This Sooners defense isn't as good as past years, which has led to some close games for Oklahoma this year. Prior to their bye week leading up to Iowa St, the Sooners had played 4 very tight games. Oklahoma has dominated Missouri for quite some time now, winning 19 of the past 20 meetings SU. The Sooners are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 conference games. Oklahoma is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games as a road favorite up to a field goal. The Sooners are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following an ATS win.

Sooners are 0-5-1 ATS last 6 games following a SU win of more than 20 points.
Under is 6-0 last 6 games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game.

Key Injuries - DL Casey Walker (knee) is questionable.

Projected Score: 24 (UNDER-Total of the Day)

TIGERS: Missouri has a chance for history tonight, as they can start 7-0 SU for the first time since 1960. Beating Oklahoma will be a tall order, but let's not forget that Missouri is undefeated in their own right at 7-0 SU. The Tigers are winning with defense this year, as they are only allowing 10.9 PPG, 2nd best in the nation. This Tigers defense is flying to the ball, and are putting an abundance of pressure on the opposing QB. Only 1 opponent has scored more than 13 PTS against Missouri this year. Offensively, Missouri is averaging 34.5 PPG, 24th best in the nation. The Tigers are led by the arm of QB Blaine Gabbert, as he's the key to this offensive attack. Behind Gabbert, the Tigers are averaging 282.8 YPG through the air, 19th best in the nation. Gabbert is completing nearly 67% of his passes, for nearly 1,600 YDS and 10 TD's this year. Despite being ranked 11th in the BCS standings, Missouri will be the listed underdog for the 2nd week in a row. The Tigers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a SU win. Missouri is 4-11 ATS in their last 15 home games overall. The Tigers are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games as the listed underdog. Missouri is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games as a home underdog.

Under is 8-0 last 8 home games against a team with a winning road record.

Key Injuries - DE Aldon Smith (leg) is questionable.

                      Projected Score: 20

Oklahoma Sooners at Missouri Tigers (+3, 53.5)

The new No. 1 team in the Coaches Poll, Oklahoma (6-0, 2-0), takes on 12th-rated Missouri (6-0, 2-0) at Faurot Field at Memorial Stadium in Columbia, where a “gold-out” crowd of over 70,000 is anticipated Saturday evening.

                        Streaky

When top-ranked OU faces Missouri in Columbia Saturday evening. the Sooners will be carrying a seven-game winning streak against the Tigers and both teams are riding six-game win streaks this season.

The Sooners amassed 672 yards of total offense in last week’s 52-0 walkover win against Iowa State in a series they've dominated, winning 68 of the 75 games played between the teams.

Oklahoma won its 12th straight in the series, moved to 12-0 under Stoops in the game following Texas and extended the nation's longest home winning streak to 34.

"They are dang good at what they do," ISU coach Paul Rhoads told reporters. "It's as much what they are doing has how they are doing it. They run a very fast tempo, which we knew. They snap the ball in rhythm and had us off balance with a good selection of run and pass."

Meanwhile, Missouri will look to win its 10th straight regular season game tonight for the first time since 1959-60.

                        Record setters

Oklahoma WR Ryan Broyles broke his own school single-game receptions mark with 15 in the rout over Iowa State. Incredibly, he had tied the record by halftime, when he had 13 catches for 165 of his 182 yards.

The receptions total topped Broyles' 13 from last year's Sun Bowl. The yardage output represented a career high and the fifth-best single-game mark in OU history.

"It almost felt like practice," Broyles said.

"Unbelievable," said a slightly more impressed coach Bob Stoops. "Just watching him on the sideline, it's amazing. He amazes me every weekend."

Meanwhile, Oklahoma RB DeMarco Murray scored three times (twice rushing, once receiving) and now owns the school record with 58 career touchdowns, breaking Steven Owens' 41-year-old mark of 57. Murray also rushed 20 times for 112 yards.

"You talk about a special record," gushed Stoops. "When you look at the history of our great players that we've had, All-Americans and special, special running backs - for him to have that record is really special."

Putting the icing on the cake, QB Landry Jones completed 30 of 34 passes (88.24 percent) to set a school record for completion percentage (25 or more passes).

                        Watch this

Oklahoma’s sophomore quarterback Jones and Missouri’s junior quarterback Blaine Gabbert are both O’Brien Watch List candidates. As a result, Saturday’s contest was named the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award’s Marquee Matchup this week.

Gabbert is one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the Big 12 and has thrown for 1,591 yards, 10 touchdowns and just three interceptions. His main asset is an ability to avoid the sack.

“Gabbert is a good player, no question, and he is a big guy,” Oklahoma defensive ends coach Bobby Jack Wright told the media. “They list him as 6-foot-4 inches and I really don’t know if he’s that big at all, but he’s a hard guy to tackle.

“We certainly hope we can pressure him enough to flush him out and then have somebody right there to take care of him,” Wright said.

Missouri’s offense is a no-huddle, screen-based offense, much like the Sooners, and does not allow a lot of pressure on the quarterback because of the quick nature of its plays.

“Schematically, they are going to get rid of the football, so we’ve got to do some other things a little bit better. We’ve got to do some things up front to help the entire [defensive] package,” Wright said.

When told Gabbert was planning to watch video of the Sooners by cell phone on the way home from College Station, OU LB Travis Lewis responded, "Bring it. They need to watch as much film as they can, because we're coming."

                        Tiger D’ gets an A
